Reinventing the trace. Re: Without a Trace > Alternative trace rules suggestion

It will surprise no one that this alternative was not an attempt to make traces less complex. I didn’t find them complex.

The standard trace rules aren’t bad as such, and part of the moivation for this redesign is a preference for the blind, but i also found that the ANR trace rules leaned into one player or other or both getting drained of all credits, and i think my alternative would tend more towards gradients of spend, which i think would make for a better game. At least that’s what i recall. It’s been a while since i’ve played.

In my house rules i’ve also changed most cards that required that the Runner is tagged so that instead removing one or more tags is a cost.

Tags as a cost was a smart idea. Shame they didn’t have that idea all the way back in the core set!
