Spark straight up deserves its own thread. I was on octgn one night and Calimsha showed me the power, I never looked back. Props also to Sonatinas musical taste.

Thoughts?

So yeah, Spark denial seems HUGE. I’ve seen it eat Reina for breakfast.
-to Ad Blitz or not Ad Blitz?
-Archer?
-Turnpike as the mini Tollbooth!?!?!
-kill???

Let’s hear your impressions

Seems like a Midseasons deck to me, with Product Placement, Turnpike, Special Offer all working to help you win the economy battle. I’m not sure the Ash is the place to spend influence.

Ash is definitely where i want to spend my influence in a FA spark deck

Good to see this thread, I’ve been playing Spark since it came out on OCTGN and quite like it. My two cents:

Ad Blitz - too much work in a base build, having to rez everything right away is a nonbo with spacing out Spark triggers. To be worth 2 clicks and $X at all I’d want to splash multiple Adonis or Eve and have Breaker Bay to free rez them, or play Rebranding Team to Blitz back Sponsorship or something.

Archer - Yes with 12 agendas and Team Sponsorship. It’s a lot more palatable scoring 1+1+2+2+2 to win if you got 4 Sponsorship triggers and blew out their rig along the way.

Turnpike - Very reasonable for $2, unless they don’t care about tags and then it sucks.

Kill - haven’t tried it but it seems NEH draw and +2 influence is better if you’re importing Scorches and trying to draw them ASAP.

For me this is conceptually like a HB Rush deck except you get to play way better agendas (and worse econ).

Current version I’m testing (Fast Track might need to be another ICE, not sure yet):

Here is my current version. I took out the archer and added in resistors since runner can be starved for credits early. I also took out AD Blitz since it really didn’t add much. The only time it was awesome is when I was apoclypsed and NBN thought it was a good time to bust out ads during all of the suffering. I’ll probably cut the food for the 3rd NAPD. It makes enough money and the fun is knowing when to rez ads to deny the runner the one credit you think they need. It does need more testing against the tier one decks; however, I’ve had decent success at the store.

I should add a little engine somewhere though…

Perfect.

I was going to say, play TS. You did.

This was the very first deck I tested when I got back from GenCon with my D&D.

Some thoughts on cards.

  • Food is good. Even a singleton Food finagles the agenda composition so that it has 1 fewer 2-pointer than the standard 3x Astro 3x Beale 3x NAPD 2x BN (8 vs. 9). Two foods mean you’ve got one fewer agenda overall but still 8 2-pointers. It’s not completely outlandish to score it, either - if you can score a 3-point Beale, you can score a Food. I probably need a Fast Track to accommodate lower agenda density, though.
  • TS isn’t quite as combo-y as in NEH Team Ninja Turtles, as it’ll usually just recur Special Offers or PADs or Launches, which is still A-OK, but you’re still NBN, so you can still do dumb fast advance things if you want to.
  • Resistor is a card I only recently came around to liking, and I wouldn’t mind fitting more, but it’d require more fiddling with the ice suite.
  • Archangel is sometimes a Little Engine. I go back and forth on whether the early rush behind Thomas the Dank Engine is better than Archangel being able to do things like reset Mediums. I don’t think it is but I could go either way.

Love the ice suite but no hedge seems crazy.

Version I’ve been dicking around with. Probably needs Cyberdex. Product Placement MVP though.

It feels totally weird at first, but it doesn’t really need the early burst for much. I also had to get pretty good at getting people to run into Special Offer, aka Hedge Fund On a Stick.

Do you generally drop it over an econ remote? If it’s on a server with more than 1 ice, it quickly loses its value so I imagine it’s best sitting over a Launch Campaign or something.

Recurring it with TS seems awesome, though.

The Snatch and Grab has been huge, yet if your FA is working you don’t really care that much about it. Going to throw the Archer back in and test something closer to Kiv’s.

Since it seems like the denial ability will probably be most impactful in the early game, would biotic labor be a good include?

Exactly - it sits on Launch Campaigns most of the time. Occasionally a very early central ice, although not nearly as good as an Architect. Sometimes on a SanSan I haven’t rezzed, which is satisfying if they run it early because I’m up 4, they get dinged for 1, and maybe they don’t trash the SanSan now. But when TS fires? I’ll put Special Offers anywhere I think the runner is going to go soon, since I get to ignore that install cost.

Plus, Special Offer has a totally “90’s Sprite advertisement” aesthetic, and who doesn’t love that?

So I’m running into a few issues with my test draws in my 11 agenda Spark deck.

C’mon, you’ve got SanSan and Astro right there for ya. You’ve even got an Eli if you want the security blanket of icing your favorite server! Picky, picky, picky.
