Super work in progress, but it’s terrible, and that’s the name of the game. The idea is to rush out 3x Origami using SMC as a tool to do so, then drop Ekomind. Duggar’s all day every day to get whatever you need, then hammer servers with Overmind, D4V1D, and E3. No need for plascrete with a hand size of 14 cards, and the brain damage from Stimhack doesn’t even begin to matter.

A little help from my friends

I’ve won with this, but its a slow roll. Somewhere in the last 25% of the game the match tips in this runner’s favor, but chances are you’ve lost by then. Inevitable, but… probably tomorrow.

Also the Hard @ Work is good in the deck. Smooths so many problems in the late game, like the lack of burst econ. Potential recurring credits are 5, +5 passive econ is more than a click on Opus. Compromised Employee & Daily Casts give that extra bump.

But if it doesn’t set up quickly or if you can’t pressure the corp into rezzing things he doesn’t want to rez, its a sad day.

The game is to build a Monolith ASAP then trade it in for a console that does actual work then declare to the Corp player that you’ve won - you were a playing a different game all along. I reckon you can probably get a monolith out by turn 4. Scavenge for great breakers and Opus then run riot. It’s never going to work, but it will be fun trying.

Advance stuff. Shuffle Agendas back into the deck. Advance stuff some more. Wait an hour. Continue advancing. Yawn. Advance. Then try to win once the runner has no more interesting things left in their deck.

A previous version of this deck has actually won games. To this day I don’t quite know how.

What is a gear check deck?

A “gear-check” is when you ask the runner, “do you have the gear to break this piece of ice?” A gear check deck probably means one that focuses on program trashing. Examples:

  • Decks that focus on program trashing are trying to win by having ice that the runner can’t break. Uncorrodable is a good example - it aims to trash the runner’s Corroder
  • Suppose you are playing HB Glacier and your barriers are Eli 1.0 and Heimdall 2.0. You might consider adding 1-2 Wall of Static in order to gear check the runner for a fracter; without the WoS the runner could just not bother to install a fracter

I tried to build around the concept of Biotech where you can either win through 3 brain damage + Brewery or via Nisei train. Predictably, it looks terrible.

Jinteki Biotech: Life Imagined

Agenda (9)
3x Fetal AI
1x NAPD Contract
3x Nisei MK II
2x The Future Perfect

Asset (9)
3x Cerebral Overwriter ••••• •
3x Edge of World
3x Jackson Howard •••

Upgrade (3)
3x Caprice Nisei

Operation (9)
3x Green Level Clearance •••
3x Hedge Fund
3x Mushin No Shin

Barrier (7)

3x Himitsu-Bako
1x Wall of Static

Code Gate (4)
3x Enigma
1x Lotus Field

Sentry (6)
3x Guard
3x Pup

Other (2)
2x Excalibur

I also considered trying to play 2 Trick of Light 3 Ice Wall 3 Shadow in order to make your unadvanced cards even more threatening (i.e. potentially Edge of World or a scorable Nisei).

This deck was originally me checking to see if the janky Tracer ICE deck that we’ve all played at least once out of MN gets good with permanent Surveillance Sweep. Spoiler Alert: it doesn’t.

The Burke Bugs + Surveillance Sweep combo was a seemingly inspired call from a meta-mate of mine. I was so ready to start taunting people with it - “So, how much do you want to pay to keep your programs?” As soon as I drew it in game I realised it only does anything if you can get it and Sweep out early, and the runner installs a non-sentry breaker program before running it. I guess it’s at least a 2 cred Mimic tax and a hilarious way for the runner to waste Parasites?

I have yet to draw Shinobi, so I’m still holding onto the probably misguided idea that it might be amazing here. With Sweep it basically sort of kinda says ‘pay as much money as the corp has or die, sucker’.

Deck is currently undefeated, because Astrotrain. The perks of running jank out of NBN - when your terrible idea doesn’t work, you have the best back up plan in the game!

The math has been done, surveillance sweep with shinobi says “better start playing ninja or something”…or something

It makes so much sense, and Burke bugs is so cheap, is it really bad here? I don’t think so. I mean, I could totally see security subcontract working with it, which doesn’t bode well, to be honest.
