'A Night at Netrunner', or 'That One Guy'

I don’t think it was inherently wrong, but the article did make a claim against pornographic playmats as well. And Macho Man + Jesus have roughly one and a half articles of clothing on between them? It’s a slippery slope.

Tomorrow; I wanted to float it for a sec to make sure I wasn’t overlooking anything.

Wish I had a playmat of a seminude Whizzard dropping an elbow on Jackson Howard in heaven. But art skillz I haz not them.

It could say “YOU HAVE BEEN EATEN BY THE CREAM OF THE CROP”

Also, @Spags you should use those little creamer cups for tokens.

I’d go for the Death Star trash compactor as the backdrop. Great call on the Land O’ Lakes creamers for tokens though.

I credit @spags mat with my participation in larger events more than anything else in the wake of my introduction to it at last year’s Nationals. I knew this was the community to which I wanted to be part.

Awww. Making me blush.

Legitimately true. Though in the wake of Worlds I’d most credit @hhooo with keeping my interest in the game from our rivalry from event to event, as well as the consistently great group of players that I know and meet that invariably participate in the events.

OK, I’ll bite: does anyone have a picture of Spags apparently infamous playmat? =)

It’s copyrighted by the Louvre, so you can’t really post it on the 'net without getting a takedown notice.

It’s been rumored to have appeared in this video, amongst others:

This looks great. My one concern is that the language leans somewhat protective of offenders. Certainly in regards to smaller infractions, warnings and education may be more productive, but I’d like it to be more obvious that in instances where someone feels their safety is compromised, harsh moderation will be in effect.

To be clear: I’m not saying that this draft doesn’t cover ejections. I just want the language to be crystal clear that we prioritize players’ safety over the education of offenders. I really appreciate the work done on this as well as the community’s enthusiasm in improving the environment of organized play!

Think this is better?

While we recognize that what constitutes offensive speech or microaggressions may be subjective and/or unintentional, any infraction that causes another player to feel their safety is in any way compromised will be met with immediate ejection. In the event of mild, unintentional infractions, a TO may find that a warning and education might be more appropriate. However, unreceptive behaviour after a warning will never be tolerated.

Yes, much! Thanks so much for the quick draw response.

That’s it. I’d recognize that baby anywhere.

One thought that’s important for this sort of discussion is how you frame the good versus the bad. For some purposes (like say Judge/TO actions) it makes sense to default to ‘everyone is awesome until proven otherwise’.

However, that’s a poor bar to set for yourself with regards to ‘Am I being a jerk?’

Consider the average thought process with regards to strategy. You don’t start knowing the correct play or line of thought. And, in most cases, you don’t start off as a good person socially either. It is something you have to work on.

So will I have to wear long sleeves to cover my zombie pope tattoo for an official ANRPC stream? That back room at Mead Hall is hot enough already!

Thanks @mediohxcore for sacrificing your time to put this together.

Now I want a playmat of the epic reversal Jesus pulled after the image on @spags’ mat. Never try a sneak attack against the omniscient, bro.

Should’ve been a double axe handle instead of an elbow drop anyway!

One of my favorite quotes about game-playing nerds is “There is something wrong with all of us”

Only in the sense there’s something ‘wrong’ with everyone in the world. I don’t like being told there’s something ‘wrong’ with me, even if it’s just a way for me to understand other people’s shitty behaviour.
