One suggestion that was given to Dan as a design card at Worlds was to reprint Our Lord and Saviour JHow in green!
They have some really great assets with what are too low trash costs (compounded by being the bad pub faction)
Good point. Itâs a shame that a faction which is famous for its building/constructing/engineering has assets that are so fragile.
I think this aspect could be improved: Yeah, Weyland builds massive structures like a space elevator - and so they have solid assets with higher-than-average trash costs.
I have always thought that what Weyland needed was a good midrange etr Code Gate. I mean how does HB and Jinteki have such good ice in faction?
I just wanna play an in faction Code Gate that isnt just Wormhole.
You mean Wendigo doesnât count?
(Want to stop Lamprey? Wendigo! Edit: That doesnât work though. Imp! Stop it with Wendigo!)
I would just make it a 3 for 1 agenda with a similar ability i.e. forfeit it if the runner is tagged for 1? click to do 5 meat damage. Maybe theme it more like the star wars project.
I think all out Rush is still somewhat viable. The only card you lose to is Clone Chip. I think that card is a large part of what is keeping Weyland out of tier 1. Weyland Rush after oaktown has a really good Anarch and Criminal match up across the board. The shaper match up can be tight sometimes, but the SMC to steal you first agenda and then the Clone Chip SMC to clear your second gear check is rough. Recurring D4vid is also tough to beat as any flavor of Weyland.
I do think Weyland Rush is stronger than other archetypes in the faction right now. The difficulty is almost always the last 2 points. Little Engine is the code gate we have been missing in Weyland Rush.
So power shutdown and taurus are two pretty strong in faction ways of dealing with CCâs. Or do most think they are just not enough?
Power shutdown only helps if you have it. Even then, good players wonât let you hit SMC or CC with shutdown , by controlling their installs and/or runs. But I do play it. Taurus isnât worthwhile in a Rush deck IMO; I played it briefly and quickly removed it.
@Dragar: Wendigo doesnât stop Lamprey.
I have been playing BS Glacier a lot recently. I think itâs pretty close to Foodcoats in terms of power. OAI and invincibility to parasite is pretty enormous. OAI shenanigans are quicker ways to all the money than the sex bots. There arenât enough D4v1d tokens for all my ICE and I can use barriers against Kate. Assassin isnât that much worse than Ichi, especially when rezzed ICE isnât a liability because Iâm Blue Sun. I think top players not dismissing Weyland would help a lot. We need people like @bblum not to bail when things are looking pretty good.
I think Faust is probably a bit too strong and ubiquitous to be able to play trad. Supermodernism. But itâs not terrible either. It goes really fast these days.
I play Weyland for the agendas and Blue Sun. That ID is amazing. I think good ICE, especially code gates would help a lot. If I could have an in faction Ash and Jackson, Iâd take it.
I run 3 power shutdowns in pretty much every Weyland deck, Iâve found they usually pop up when needed, SMCâs at 0 and CCâs at 1 means the runner will need to have some other really cheap hardware/programs to prevent the trash. You canât always bank on a dominant board state, but those are some good oddâs imo.
But you only run 3x PS, while basically every shaper runs 3x CC and 3x SMC. My experiences with Power Shutdown have been that it gives you one turn at most of breathing room, which I donât think is enough. Shapers will draw into one or the other very quickly.
I generally always run an archived memories for this reason. And in rush you really only need one little window. Well, I think âŚ
Fair enough, Archived Memories makes a lot of sense. I havenât played Weyland Rush since Oaktown Renovation came out, so maybe that one lets you keep enough steam to really use the small window you get for full effect. Do you have a decklist you could share?
Iâve been having some luck playing Weyland rush with destroyer-Batty (Grim/Archer). A scoring server of etr-grim or archer-anything is pretty neat, and late game Batty can use that server to wipe the rig.
As a bonus I now have two cards that tax Clone Chips/SMCs, Batty and Shutdown.
Could be interesting to replace Batty with the Twins and free up influence, but my gut feeling is that itâs a bad trade.
Iâve only really been using the @tmoiynmwg Blue Sun deck published on NRDB Lanri 2.0 (and slight variations, mainly in ice) as well as classic supermodernism that Seamus put together out of Argus: Seamusmodernism ¡ NetrunnerDB
I think these are possibly the closest to tier 1 archetypes in Weyland at the moment, and am really curious about a think tank thread around improving those ideas/builds.
Dammit!
Imp! I meant Imp!
Yup, Argus SM is surprisingly strong. Casting Call is hilarious in that deck.
First, thanks to all who liked my previous creations.
Here are 2 more ideas :

While working on them I realised that the main issue with giving Weyland better cards is that, most of the time, you can think of a better combination with cards from other faction.
And if you give the new cards high influence costs, first it wonât stop NEH from playing them, then it kind of go against the very principle of influence.
Maybe thatâs why Lukas said that Weyland needed an other 3/2 agenda. Thatâs the only kind of help that wonât benefit to the other.
No more 3/2 agendas. Please, no more. Iâm actually looking forward to Beale, Atlas and Vitruvius rotating out.
I think we have a bad impression about 3/2 because of NBN and HB having 6 of them.
But has it ever be an issue for Jinteki ?
Personally I would have enjoyed if every faction has 2 kind of 3/2 :
- one, unlimited but blank if not overscored
- one with an ability but limited to 1 per deck
