So the core idea was taking Seamus’s Modern Prometheus build and find a reason to justify Multithreader again. Part of that was looking at a breaker suite that only had half of it using any real money. So I made room for Gordian blade, Multithreader, and then that last spot went to the Armitage because I did notice a money issue.
Two parts that I’ve noticed would hurt me: Kati money is a risky basket to put everything into, and one game had me stupidly running an HQ with an Archangel and burning ABR just to get through a Wraparound. Another is no tutors. I’ve found e3 to be incredibly handy for improving ABR, lets you get through really powerful Ice and ruins most Bioroids as well. But if this is a money rig setup I need to be better spending my time making money and building rigs. I could swap the Gordians for a Shrike, use that inf for a special order, then somehow figure out how to get the money I need to build up.
I like Lovegood because I need a turn to take Kati money and install stuff. If there was a good use it’s turn off NAT to save money on the sansan server run. But that might be worth only 2 instead of 3.
Hunting Grounds is certainly an amazing card in ‘standard’ rigs. It’s almost film critic tier for the way it hoses common ICE like Booth and Data Raven, to a lesser (but still funny) extent of Pop-up, Komainu, and Turnpike. Its a huge boon to stealth and big rigs because of how it deals with their only blocks - Booth and Raven.
Anyone trying Sage? It seems like it does double duty as a breaker and gets progressively stronger as the game goes. I had it up to strength 11 (with the help of some memstrips) So far, I like it way more than splashing Zu or Yog.
I like the thought of sage, and it does help against early gearcheck ice such as wraparound / quandary. However I feel like you’d need to cut almost all of the utility programs which have synergy with it to get through anything beyond that without being extremely lucky on the ABR runs.
Also if they drop a firewall or tollbooth behind something you need to ABR you are gonna be in a world of hurt.
Yea, like I’ve done silly things with e3 against HB decks running bioroids. But anything with any kind of glacier that takes econ to deal with falls hard. It might just be the inherent weakness with NAT and ABR, Relying on Kati for money has lost me games because of archangel, and unless I put in tutors it is all draw reliant. Less painful than normal with SF but still chancy.
For me, it feels like whenever I manage to fix the breaker suite, I fuck up the multiaccess, or when I have enough multiaccess, I lack econ, or when I have enough econ, I fuck up the breakers suite again. Endless circle of “not quite.”
We’re getting some good multiaccess options with Wheel later in Mumbad, which I think is going to be just amazing. That helps free up a few influence for him.
Yeah, The Turning Wheel is an automatic 3x in Adam builds for me. All the benefits of TME in terms of rewarding early aggression, turns pre-Lovegood ABR clicks into something useful, and saves some inf. I’ve got an inkling that Mumbad in general will do a lot to round out Adam and Apex.
i’m honestly having a hard time think of decks where Turning Wheel doesn’t fit (well… decks that hardly run, but i don’t play them)
it’s going to be all over the place. so keen for that card. my only problem is having to wait until the fifth pack to get it lol
So I played with Adam because I thought I would like it and it turns out I don’t. I just did not enjoy him at all. Being forced to run once every turn is terrible, because as soon as they put a frickin Architect on Archives, you can’t even run that anymore to access cards with a trash cost. Ugh. It gets even worse if you encounter something you have to break, but need to use two clicks, essentially wasting three clicks just to force the corp to rez. Ugh. I mean, it did not help that I never seemed to draw into my Brain Chips, but in the Age of Asset Economy, Adam is just too fragile to really enjoy. It feels bad to have a lot of credits, and I just hated that.
Edit: I played a modified Modern Prometheus, because I thought Career Fair+Resources was a sound plan for not having to ditch cards T1.
Adam takes a long time to learn, more than any other runner, I think.
Keep in mind that Adam can run up to six cards (3 Lovegood, 3 Independent Thinking) that turn off ABR if that’s what you want to do. Alternatively, there are many, many Run Events that give those three clicks more value.
Adam cannot play like other runners. But in my experience he still plays very well.
More importantly ABR gets you through any one subroutine for that turn. Works well on avoiding the more troubling things. Course the worst situation is a bunch of two sub ice with dangerous first subs sitting on all servers and you without a way to not run.
I think it’s easy to come up with a deck that’s deeply upsetting to Adam. I think it’s pretty hard to do so efficiently if you’re teching against a normal metagame. I think ABR is really powerful. I think that and safety first are well worth their drawbacks. Adam seems alright to me.
Has anyone been trying out Stim Dealer in Adam? I’ve been testing it a bit and quite happy with it, between using Dr Lovegood, Brain Chip and Public Sympathy to keep the brain damage under control the extra click has been great for using Kati or breaking subs without losing most of your turn and being very aggressive. I’ve had games on 5 or 6 brain damage and not been overly worried about it.
Been running the anarch breakers with it to make runs cheap but no idea how the influence should really be spent yet. This is a first rough draft based around The Modern Prometheus shell to get started.
