My god that was a rough field. Even rougher top 8. Jens, Aaron Andrias, spags, Joe Mann, Alec(unsure of his handle), paranoid, me and I can’t remember the last one.
Great job guys. Feel less bad about not top 8’ing then. Last night I was so tired I was happy to get home. But I woke up this morning with this hollow feeling, like I’d made mistakes and stuff like that. Which is totally not me. Think this place is rubbing off on me. Not sure if I like that…
I don’t think I told you, round 1 vs chicago I’m against HB FA. There’s a mother goddess on the table (I’ve already won with RP). The only other things rezzed are barriers and sentries. I have corroder in hand and blackmail. I think to myself, I’ll install the corroder and blackmail the remote. Somehow, I must have skipped the installing corroder step. He’s on match point with NAPD on a SanSan behind the goddess. I play the blackmail strait face and don’t make it past the goddess. That’s what’s eating at me, that and holding a 1 ice hand against noise. Either of those games go differently and we’re talking different results.
Our games, I’m not sure. I think I could have lost the eyes and should have kept the desperado. I’m not beating myself up over that round. Atman at 6 was a solid call, and I think I was playing my best. Maybe could have pushed faster as RP, but that was it.
Also, hate being at the top. Netrunner is hard up there.
Heh. Those little mistakes. Dogs eating Desp. … had to keep those MUs. 4th running against HB, and almost dying against Vik1, let alone the DL fizzling…those are little mistakes, being a bit too aggro at times, those are the little things that are the five line between good/great.
Top tables ARE hard. Was nice to climb from the bottom, but I had the ‘stress’ of having to sweep out my last two rounds.
I didn’t perform all that well on the day (7-5), and I made two large unforced errors that directly cost me games, but I had a great time. Everyone I played against was cool, I had some really interesting conversations after games, and just generally really enjoyed the community.
When my friend @xavi made the cut, I knew I was going to have to stay and watch the elims despite being absolutely ravenous. Shout out to Team TDP for a) wrecking face, including one another when necessary, and b) giving me a lift to the pub so I could sample the fine wares of Great Dane.
HUGE shout out to @aandries for winning the thing and for his tremendous investments in the great community of Oaktown.
