It’s hard to cover all the examples of diversity, but a few others bear mention. For example, Damon noted that Nero is trans (obliquely alluded to in the story text, but most of us missed it), and Lukas confirmed that Sunny’s partner Pat is a woman. Damon was also proud of the fact that all three of the original core set runners are biracial.
I bring it up because I think this is the best part; it’s easy enough (though still laudable) to splash diversity all over the setting, but the creators managed to combine the overt and subtle, and these blink-and-you-miss-it character details really reward careful examination, and, above all, do a great job of normalizing the setting’s inclusivity.
