BWBI: Reprint

What is the minimum you’d have to change to make this identity immediately playable.

Would:

“Whenever ice is advanced, gain 1c” be enough? Synergy with Matrix Analyzer, The Root, etc.

Or, probably OP: “Whenever a card is advanced, gain 1c”

Maybe

“At the beginning of your turn, you may pay 1c. If you do, put an advancement counter on a piece of ICE that can be advanced.”

“The first time you advance a piece of ice on your turn, gain click.” That way it combos with more things.

I’m not convinced it needs a re-print, I just think it needs some supporting cards that do things when ice is advanced in order to make the action more worth while. Either some sort of asset or perhaps a current operation that gives some sort of incentive toward advancing ice would be great.

That being said, I love hearing people’s ideas toward a reprint as well, just to see folk’s thoughts!

I don’t think it needs a reprint - it’ll turn into a powerful economy ID once wormhole and orion are printed. But I also don’t think my repreint would be OP, so if FFG did reprints, I think what I changed would be good.

Especially alongside NEH and BS… your reprint is definitely not overpowered. even with Kaguya

Hmm…I think the fundamental issue with this ID is that the issue with advancing ICE (or any cards), is not the money it costs to do so (generally), but the opportunity cost tied up in the click you spend to do it. Maybe if it said “Whenever you take the rulebook action to advance a card, you may place an advancement counter on a piece of ICE.” Lets you bluff advancement counters on unadvanceable ICE, lets you advance Tyrant while unrezzed, and gives you a benefit for doing something you do anyways…advance agendas.

If spending the recuring credit did’t cost a click to spend it would be fine in my opinion.

I think there’s a pretty decent build lurking in BWBI as stands. In a few datapacks, Weyland Slow Shell game with Punitives might be a thing … 9 ice or so, constantly advancing, commercialisation etc.

This is what I’m fiddling with and it’s about 50/50 at the moment. It’ll probably be significantly better in Gagarin Deep Space mode though, hence the name.

Deck built on NetrunnerDB.

In BWBI, I think this shell game is unplayable. Your ability doesn’t pay you to advance remotes. Playing a deck with 8 total ICE, with 7 that can be advanced, doesn’t seem workable in BWBI. Gagarin is a completely different story, but this is a thread about BWBI. There is no punishment for a Runner to access any unadvanced remote in that list.

Yeah agreed. It forces you to install, advance at least on every remote. Not ideal. Introduces a decent economy though in commercialisation, hence trying to fiddle around. Gagarin will be all round better. And you have to mulligan for a piece of ice every time.

Seems like a good way to run out of money, honestly, since you only have the credit for advancing ice.

Honestly, I’d consider giving it more influence except that that’s something it needs, strangely, least of Weyland IDs, since its ability wants to run Weyland’s advance-ice primarily.

I don’t know that Orion/Wormhole are going to make BWBI all that much better, but they’ll certainly help, as will the region that treats all ice in the server as having one more advancement on them. With more decent and varied Adv. Ice, that isn’t useless on first-rez, maybe BWBI will be able to carve out a niche for itself.

What about just removing the limitation to using the credit on ICE.

“Use this credit to advance cards.”

Saving a credit for advancing agendas/traps is quite good. I don’t think that would be OP. Not sure it would be enough to make it “immediately playable”, but certainly “more playable”.
