On the note about Ice carver: I’m also playing it in my eddy deck. It is quite a game changer, actually. Magically, everything costs either 1 credit or 1 datasucker token less to break. My cousin played my eddy deck vs my HB deck, and that ice carver destroyed me. Made my Ichis mimic-able, Vipers Yog.0-able, and all my normally 5 str ice got handled by atman at 4, which still gets lotus field (though I don’t have that card in there) and the other aforementioned ice before the carver comes down. My ice was literally in shambles, and he was able to get through even 4 ice deep servers easily.
I would have lost that game if he wasn’t superstitious about running a server with caprice (was on HQ, and he just doesn’t run caprice servers because he ALWAYS loses psi-games) and if he had also just ran my archives and gotten the NAPD in there.
I think if I’m running any card that helps running works. I had Scrubbed in for a bit thinking it’d have it’s uses, but that carver sounds pretty darn useful.
The corp usually needs to install assets and upgrades (and have them stick around) for them to be useful. So Whizzard doesn’t have to get into centrals to use his ability. If the corp doesn’t install their stuff, it’s as good as trashed, and if they do install, he can trash from remotes.
I like the idea of this econ shell in Whizzard or Val more, but since this thread is seriously discussing Anarch econ the most, I wanted to post it here.
The idea is that straight up Anarch Econ is too clunky to rely on completely, so you have to splash. But splashing for econ is tough because you also need to splash for Tutors and a Lotus Field solution. I figured the new card Career Fair could help skyrocket Anarchs to the next level because it works so well with one of their strongest in-faction econ cards, Liberated Accounts. And it’s only 3 influence.
Here t’is. Gonna test it on OCTGN this weekend. Any feedback?
The hard part is always getting combo part 1 before combo part 2 shows up. I guess the other is a quick glance 3 Career means either cutting Atman for Zul or clone/SO and having 1 inf left for something, maybe a shard. You do want more fairs to up the chance of seeing one before a resource, but I guess it’s going to be competing with space with IHW and programs.
The influence was actually going to be 2x Clone Chip, 2x Net Ready Eyes, 2x Special Order, and the 3 Career Fairs. Gonna try it with Personal Touches until Net Ready comes out.
I like it. Personally id want to go to 2x kati 2x liberated in case your opponent packs snatch and grab, and yeah clone chip has a strong synergy with inject so you should really include that.
With 3 earthrise you only really need 2 inject. Deckslots can be spent elsewhere.
Id like to mention as well regarding inject, with clone chip milling your own programs is actually another plus for the card rather than a draw back. Knowing a program is in the heap means, using clone chip, you can sort of tutor for it at any time.
I agree on the Inject/Clone Chip synergy. Only having 2 Chips is kinda rough though.
Played 3 games with this shell last night in a Whizzard deck, and it was functional, but seemed as clunky as most Anarch builds. I actually found myself tossing Liberated and even Sure Gambles in my scramble for Breakers and Medium.
Program (11)
1x D4v1d
3x Datasucker
2x Medium
3x Parasite
2x Self-modifying Code ••••• •
I liked econ/draw package and the breakers also. Deck felt flowing quite well. Atman was only way to break Lotus which was quite painful but I still wouldn’t want to play other decoder than Yog. Knight is one option but Lotus is mainly a problem in Blue Sun. Was mainly missing a second Stimhack and Day Job/Hacktivist could be changed for that.
Biggest problem of the deck was Kim himself and playing felt like running with only one arm. Kim ability was really depended on match up and even then quite underwhelming. I felt especially Whizzard or even Reina would had been almost strictly better choice. Kim was best at trashing operations from R&D but generally with meta today I see much more Ash/Jackson/DBS/etc in R&D where Whizzard would work better. Problem with Kim is that HQ isn’t usually so good target for operations because money operations are played instantly. Also Kim doesn’t have good way to deny corp’s money where money operations would stay in HQ for longer. Trashing Punitives/Biotics/Midseasons felt the most powerful but I see less Biotics in here and Punitive/meat dmg can be usually managed with IHW and good play if Goverment Takeover is not the first agenda stolen.
I think Kim is good. He has an inbuilt Imp and (therefore) makes medium better. Imp and Medium are arguably anarch’s best cards. The link is more valuable than you realise. Most corp operations win games.
Someone earlier compared him to Gabe. Which is apt except he spreads his pressure to both main centrals.
I think the power of a good breakfast after partying hard makes MaxX somewhat less appealing. Wyld Chronotype is nuts. MaxX is clearly still very very good but that draw without having to mitigate the milling is totally stupid.
I agree link being important because I have started to see Caduceus/Viper more again where link really matters. Against newer scorch NEH with Midseasons/Gutenbergs, remote IDs with Ash or BS Punitive I don’t see one more link so big deal. Also taxing MN is not very popular where link can matter. I think Whizzard and Kim are the IDs which you have to think about when building a “vanilla anarch” deck. I find Kim ability great in R&D, ok in HQ but doesn’t work in remotes. Whizzard ability is ok in R&D, HQ and also remotes. Both abilities are about equally strong but Whizzard might help you react to different board situations better because the ability can work in every server. Hacktivist Support helps Kim against assets but I am still not completely sold about it being a strong card.
My two cents - HQ is for specific/situational ops, like Interns, Snatch and Grab, and Tag’n Bag.
If you want to do econ denial with Kim’s ability, you have to hit R&D. It’s not always super obvious, but trashing a few econ ops has serious consequences for how the game plays out. You’re also more likely to hit stuff like ELP there as well.
As for whizzard - sure, there are meta’s where he’s going to be better. I’d look for a scrubber slot though.
I’m torn on the choice between Hacktivist Meeting and Wanton Destruction - both are good, but I’ve been leaning towards Wanton. Nothing like a bolt from the blue.
