Flashpoint Cycle!

I’ve been hoping for Smoke since way back in the Genesis cycle, and at this point, I would still be ecstatic if she was to come out, but at this point, I doubt it. We can always hope she will be our flashpoint shaper!

And Gorman drip and Power Outage offers a good synergy aswell.
There IS something here.

I think it’s called Noise Gorman wtf stop it arrrrr all over again

Well she seems based in New Angeles and Flashpoint is the first cycle to return there in a good while, and ‘huge flashy stuff’ like the 23 seconds event seems in her thematic wheelhouse (see notoriety/daily casts).

Of course all that could just be a…/puts on sunglasses/…smokescreen.

Yeah, just imagine if all flashpoint leads up to a Noise revival.

Took me a while, but I finally got it.

I’m so excited to play Null. I never cared for anarch back in the regass era. excited to yog through tollbooths and mimic through assassin and vikram.

I was thinking today that Null’s rig could be Scrubbed+instant Parasite+D4v1d. You instantly trash the first piece of ICE you hit if it’s 4 STR or under. Everything else you D4v1d. The two issues I see are Architect and Lotus Field. I threw together a L4J style list that seems like a reasonable approach for this strategy. Then again, I don’t consider myself a deck builder.

The Faust is only for Lotus Field. I realize now I didn’t slot a Mimic; Econ is probably light, too.

Trying to build around Null is probably a trap; he will likely best be leveraged in junk lists that use his ability as a safeguard and flexibility.

Null Scrubbed

Ice Carver has obvious synergy but also might take things out of D4v1d range too often. Is that possible??

Well said but I’m just imagining a viable HQ hatin’ Noise : that way we would have a NEH T&B or FA kind of dilemma on top of his strengh

(well the first shop was a Noise shop anyway)

Scrubbed is pretty bad, and doesn’t work well with D4. If you hit a strength 5 or 6 ICE as your first encounter, then you can Parasite or D4 through it. You only have the 1x Faust, so it may be difficult to find it as a rig breaker to face-check ICE safely.

What’s this OP card that somehow lead designer’s choice got veto’d on? I am concerned.

I found that portion of the interview odd as well. He has been much more moderate in his estimation of “overpowered” cards than many in the (vocal) community, so I found his series of statements on the Null + (something) worrisome. If there is one thing I don’t want dominating Netrunner in the future, it is creditless / card-costing ice breaking.

Okay, I’ll turn my concern trolling off now.

Fantasy Flight Games presents, “This card is OP”

Caleb Grace (Lotr): This card is OP, but meh, it’s coop, and we can just errata it if it is a problem.

Nate French (Thrones): This card is OP, but let’s just make it limit 1 per deck so that it doesn’t show up often.

Brad Andres (Conquest): This card is OP, so let’s just give it to a faction that is struggling,

Lukas Litszinger: This card is OP, so I will use some design space next cycle for creating silver bullets for it.

Damon Stone: This card is OP, so let’s just see what happens!

And finally:

Isaac Vega (Ashes by Plaid Hat Games): These Emperor Lions are OP, so let’s completely redesign the card and start over! Who cares about deadlines amiright?

I’m trying to wrap my brain around Chrysalis:

If the Runner accesses this card, then they encounter it. Does that mean the Runner has an opportunity to break it? This seems really strange if adding in encounter/break interaction during access. Does uninstalled ICE have strength? Cost? What about Corp things that interact with those? How about things that interact with breaking/passing ICE? Things that add subs?

If this was not intended to add in breaker interaction, and simply allow the sub to be fired, why not just put it in the access text of the card “Runner takes two damage when accessing this card” - Ignore this in Archives?

I very much like the idea of ICE that can add threat to access, but I feel we are treading into some very weird rule space.

because archangel isn’t already a card.

Totally fair. Something I had forgotten (probably because I have maybe encountered it once).

So I assume that means it just gets broken if you can? Have any of the oddities I mentioned caused problems or do we just roll through the ICE encounter phases as “resolving a trigger effect” before finishing the access phase?

We juste roll through the encounter phase.

I’m silently weeping over my criminal deck right now after reading this, wondering what I did to deserve my meta.

Mostly you just roll through the encounter phase. It did introduce some oddities because the paid ability window in the middle of an access was a new wrinkle in the game (e.g. you could fire a utopia shared, forcing a discard, while you are accessing the card in HQ), but these are generally addressed in the FAQ.

Thanks, I will go dig in the FAQ and stop derailing this thread.
