I’m all for novelty, hell I got on the front page by putting Grail ice and Blacklist into Blue Sun, I’d just prefer if it was well tested and at least vaguely optimised novelty
Right. As cool as it was, Timmy’s Worlds NEH wasn’t showing up on the front page.
I wish it had; it was my kind of crazy. I think that deck is just hard to play. Super Hard.
historically the lists have been jank up until regional season, then good for like 1-2 months, then jank again
I feel the same way about how Hinkes’ Spark deck beat out his IG deck. Industrial Graveyard is super funky to play and engages the game at this bizarre angle. I think it’s more interesting and stronger than the Spark deck.
Yeah if it’s gonna be front page I want it to be optimized jank. You can play ABR/e3/cutlery Quetzal if you really want to but you should probably do things like “have a draw engine” and “use more parasites.”
I haven’t found time to describe how to play the deck, and having a good description is about 70% of making the front page.
Just randomly USE CAPS and SAY OUTRAGEOUS things like “I KILL RUNNERS with Scorched Earth BECAUSE THEIR MOTHERS don’t love THEM.”

You’re not wrong. Top result in the “Hall of Fame” section is “Can o’ Whupass” Noise by Tyrellian. The first sentence in the long (and hilarious) description -
MAKE THE CORP GO “WHAAAAA?” IN SUPER SLOW MOTION AND THEN SLAP THEM ACROSS THE FACE AS YOU STEAL ALL OF THE AGENDAS, PICK UP THEIR DECK, THROW IT IN TO A BIN AND LIGHT IT ON FIRE.
It’s actually an excellent description because he keeps the flavor he’s setting up in that opener while describing how to play the deck and deal with specific corps. Just write in some kind of flavor, or be over-the-top and ridiculous, and you can make deck of the week.
@Chill84, I know my horrible joke deck will never even make the front page of NRDB, or maybe even the popular page. But it would really make my day if you played it at least once and wrote a sentance or two.
The Challenge Deck: 284 Cards · NetrunnerDB
Needs Battle of Wits
I’m playing Replicating Perfection against a new player using the ABR deck. I feel bad for him
Looks like @gumOnShoe made us proud with a reasonable list this week. I have been playing this list a lot with great results, interested to hear the venerable @Chill84’s take
Maybe the problem has been good decks not being published with good write ups? … Nah, probably just the novelty thing.
@thebigboy further iterated into mn glacier, maybe we can get that up next week?
Take a look at the top of R&D and Pay me! It’s NRDBir Sol edition:
I agree with Soledad regarding Lockwell. I’ve only ever used her as a Fast Track that isn’t guaranteed to actually find an agenda.
10/10 review, would O’Brien again.
Deck archetype name is now Sol-Dad.
Yeah, the Lockwell include didn’t make sense to me. I don’t want to pay two to do what Jackson and Anonymous Tip(!!!) let me do for free. The optimal situation of screwing over an indexing just isn’t worth it. One Cyberdex please.
Everything else about this deck is terrifying. Also I wish I thought of Jolteon first.
I don’t mind the lockwell, the clickless draw allows you to pull through a top-deck RnD lock, and if you have tagging ice you might as well have a modicum of tag punishment, if the runner has even 2 tags, you can summon up the psychographics FA win on demand. Sure ATip is 2 less and doesn’t contribute to a thinner RnD…but the clickless draw FTW is absolutely worth it.
I agree with everything but the psychographics bit since that’s not in deck.
But, it’s still a good way to find your current if it didn’t show up and they’ve been tagging themselves off hound like it doesn’t matter. It’s happened in a negligible number of games, so I can’t in good concience say its the best card ever; but I like it and it always does work. And I do value start of turn draw, I think its a slightly undervalued card.
That said, full disclosure, these are the slots I think you can safely tech with which won’t drastically change the game plan or ruin the deck’s play:
- Assassin (could easily be Archangel, or if you lose the paywall Architect; but only Ice that begin in A plz)
- Lily Lockwell (Could be CVS/Fast Track/Anonymous Tip/Ash if you drop Paywall)
- Paywall #3 (Opens the most options, but if you drop this consider keeping lockwell as it helps you dig extra for a current)
- Breaking News (Switch to 15 Minutes, or potentially drop a beale/NAPD for 2nd food if you lost the paywall)
My 4 current version runs 2 Lockwells to help dig deaper and its arguable Lockwell does more work there. The card is totally a pet card, and switching it out for something that suits your style better is fine.
Also, lockwell had more value when DLR was a more played thing. Helped you find TM earlier to name WNP.
