All good.
I do agree that the condition of when we’ve altered the game state is confusing.

What happens when the agenda Media Blitz copied is forfeited? I’m assume since the wording is ‘gains’ its a one time copy rather than a constant binding, and it survives the agenda being forfeited but I wanted to check :).
Can I play three different operations and gain a click? (action = “play an operation”)
Can I use Melange or purge viruses and gain a click? (i just spent three clicks doing the same thing)
Does it give a credit for itself? Does an event go to the heap before or after it is resolved?
• Yup!
• No frickin’ clue. I think that one’s gonna need a ruling. My heart says “no,” but I could honestly see the answer being yes as well.
• Nope. Events go to the heap once all their effects have resolved, so the card is super “meh” the first time you play it.
No problem. Just be sure to make an enterance on your way into the party
Ronald Five: Whenever the Runner trashes a Corp card (including Ronald Five), he or she loses [click].
Adjusted Chronotype: The first time you lose [click] each turn, gain [click].
They seem to have a straightforward interaction- you trash an asset first click, Chronotype gives you a click ro make up for it. But Ronnie doesn’t specify “if able” like Enigma or False Lead. If you trash an asset fourth click, it still fires, it just doesn’t do anything since you have no more clicks to lose. In this case, would Chronotype give you a fifth click?
No.
Okay, but why not? Also, would Ronnie trip Heinlein Grid (If the Runner loses or spends a click during a run on this server, he or she loses all credits in his or her credit pool.)?
Because the trigger is “the first time the runner loses a click” not “the first time an effect that causes the runner to lose a click resolves”. The runner didn’t lose a click, so Adjusted Chronotype does not trigger. Q-Coherence Chip doesn’t get trashed if you faceplant into Rototurret with no programs installed.
If I want to make a breaker bay grid fueled deck with Haas arcology AI, and test ground, does derezzing the AI create an instance where the once per turn restriction is refreshed every time I rez the AI? I want to be able to fast advance vanity projects or super project ares, with a spare cyberdex install if necessary. It’s one of the crazy ideas I have for CI…
No, it’s still the same Arcology, just derezzed. A card doesn’t become a new “copy” of itself until uninstalled.
So what you’re saying is to find a way to put Isabel McGuire into this business, gotcha. Much appreciated.
In view of the ruling on Agenda Points:
The runner steals a 3-pointer, and forfeits it to the Data Dealer. The corp has The Board rezzed. The corp plays Punitive Counterstrike. How much damage will it deal to the runner? 3, 2, or 0?
Is the answer any different if The Board was rezzed after the agenda got ferfeited?
the exact language on punitive is “the number of agenda points on agendas he or she stole last turn.”
this language, combined with the linked ruling, makes me think the answer is zero meat damage. Even though this language could be referring to agenda points as they were stolen, when combined with this ruling it seems to imply that this card language is referring to agendas currently in the score area that were stolen last turn (since it uses their current point value, not the value they had when stolen).
This would mean that once an agenda is sacrificed, there are no longer and “agenda points on an agenda that was stolen last turn” since there is no longer any such agenda in the game.
Okay, what if we remove Data Dealer from the equation and get this:
The runner steals a 3-pointer. The corp rezzes The Board and plays Punitive Counterstrike (don’t ask me why). How much damage will it deal to the runner? 3 or 2?
The runner stole 3 points, but the agenda is currently worth 2 points.
from the followup (at the bottom of the page you linked) asking the very same question, the answer is 2 (this is a big part of why I think the answer with data dealer is 0, as it clearly implies that the current state of the stolen agendas when you play punitive is what’s important.)
I don’t know for sure, but the runner had stolen an agenda that turn that was worth points regardless of it being forfeited. My guess is that it’s worth the printed value if the Corp punitives, as the Board only affects agendas in the runner’s score area.
So if the runner steals a 3 pointer and then then forfeits it, even with the board the runner takes damage (assuming trace failed) equal to it’s printed number.
Yeah, as I said I don’t know for sure, just going off the implications of that ruling - that punitive looks at the current state of the card, not its state “when stolen.” If that’s true, then by the time punitive checks for the value of that card, the result is just “error, no such card exists” since forfeited cards are no more “in the game” than the cards in your binders.
That said, they’ve definitely ruled in favor of weird floating effects before (see sneakdoor abd program trashing, for example) so it wouldn’t shock me if Lukas ruled the other way.
Punitive can’t see a forfeited agenda.
This is really counterintuitive. I don’t think The Board and Global Food Initiative should affect Punitive either.
