I don’t know if it’s a huge game-changer, but if they trash it, then what? They still have to land a tag to do anything because it doesn’t give the runner a tag, just makes them the state of being tagged (Psychographics doesn’t do anything with it either), and it still taxes a click (and 2 credits too I guess), and it prevents the corp from being able to SEA Source/Scorch/Scorch in one turn without giving the runner a chance to hole back up.
I see it as a means to avoid DRT, Argus (not that I see all that much anyway), or the ever disappointing Checkpoint, but mainly as a good tax against decks trying for a normal tag event / double meat damage event plan. IAA Breaking News and Midseasons are still problematic though.
imo, its biggest problem is that it gets hosed by Closed Accounts and Universal Connectivity Fee, which I think will probably get overlooked quite a bit.
if the ultimate effect of paparazzi existing is a shift from meat damage tag punishment to other strategies, then I’m all for it, and I guess I agree. the problem is to know when to play it I guess.
So BaBW is The Mushin ID, I take it. I dunno… only seems worth it in a very particular deck where you have a beefy remote with The Root, and then are using the Root Credits to IAA all sorts of weird shit, occasionally turning it into real money.
My biggest problem with this in the end is: the only advanceables Weyland has without INF are the Refinery (which is a better version of this card, basically) and Shattered Remains. So, in the end, instead of a new transaction helping BABW free up influence, we get a new way of spending influence to make use of the ID power.
Seems pretty bad. Turn any advancable card into a bad grndl refinery. Meh. Less than two credits per click for a two card combo seems pretty bad. Mushin makes it better but just mushin grndl
Mushin any installable and then eat it as a third click - 3 clicks, 3 cards, goes from 0 to 10 credits. Has the advantage of the runner not being able to stop it, unlike a Mushined Refinery. Works with spare Crisium Grids as fodder.
Also, is hilarious with a Queen’s Gambited upgrade
Pretty interesting with Mushin or Tennin, but it not being “in or protecting a server” makes it feel pretty bad for Weyland. Recouping an Ice Wall/mad Builder profits would have been nice for BaBW, BWBI, and Titan.
Weyland is getting more double advanced things you probably want to run (Contract Killer).
But yeah, my best case scenario is imagining Simone and a trap (Ghost Branch?) in a server. And you just keep advancing it until you draw one of these, then you get all the money and try to score something.
I’m not seeing anything for #77 either… unless I’m being blind, which is entirely possible.
Anyway, I’ve already pre-ordered mine from the US as I had an ebay voucher that was about to expire
