Great call, I’d forgotten about that. I guess I was just thinking of Tollbooth and Data Raven as the on-encounter things you care about. Ichi, Grim and Archer are probably the destroyers you care about most then.
guys, there’s not enough talk of Hyperdriver
Hyperdriver installed:
remove at beginning of turn (7 clicks left), install Endless Hunger (6 left), run 3 centrals (3), play Apocalypse (2), run centrals again and/or or play Notoriety (1), install Hyperdriver (0)
remove at beginning of turn (7), install Endless Hunger (6), run 3 centrals (3), play Notoriety 2-3 times (1-0), laugh maniachally (1-0), install third Hyperdriver if necessary
alternatively, console +1 MU (Akamatsu, etc.) and 2 Hyperdrivers will let you have your way with the corp. just keep some Notorieties, Maker’s Eyes and Legworks around. also you can reinstall Endless Hunger and Heartbeat that turn so they can’t try to flatline you next turn.
3 influence be damned. you only need to install 1 breaker, and you can do some crazy shenanigans after bringing about the Apocalypse
They are all problems but not ones without solutions, Ichi is clickable and therefore avoidable, and once you’ve identified it you can use Prey to trash it, Archer is noticeable in that it only becomes active once Agenda’s are scored, and is countered if you back Endless Hunger with E3 implants. Grim is by far the most potentially dangerous, Personally i dont want fork out either 4 influence for a D4V1D or run datasucker to boost mimic since you’ll need to run mem chips to support it. I guess Infiltration is gonna be a mandatory 3x include!
If you’re planning on exposing ice, just remember, it’s a trap!
FFG really should be offering benefits to the runner to expose, not punishing this underutilized ability.
This is a great point and one that I hope the developers actually move towards soon. There are so many card that disinsentivize expose effects and so few cards that actually that are expose effects (the main one being drive by).
And generally you don’t care about exposing ice or remotes because it is all up to board state.
Prey + Eater would at least let you destroy problem ice. Hunting Grounds let’s you avoid a grail ice’s strength once per turn.
If only cutlery wasn’t so expensive…
How about the first time you expose a card, gain a click and lose whatever number of credits you need to make it balanced?
I could see a way in the future criminals make money off of expose effects. Maybe.
Hunting Grounds solves Komainu as well, FWIW
The cute thing you can do for leprechaun/endless hunger builds is since you’re running 3 EH anyway just install your 1stEH when you get it, then once you have the leprechaun + the 2nd EH just trash the 1st EH to itself to make room.
I guess I’m not worrying about Hyperdriver or other +click effects because you don’t have too much inf to spare for living even better versions of your dream.
I’ll settle for just ending the world. And if that somehow didn’t do it, end it again.
You should totally have Hades Shard for the Apocalypse, tho
Run Archives to install it as one of your 3 central runs is pretty much the bee’s knees
For people reading this who haven’t actually tried making a decklist yet, Apex’s no-non-virtual-resource constraint is a much bigger deal than you might initially think. Especially since you can’t play Kati or Daily Casts, 2 of the better inf-free econ options.
I keep thinking things like “hmm maybe Pawnshop would be good, def seems better than Chop Bot OH GODDAMN IT”.
Aesop may put up with a lot of shit, but he does NOT make deals with sentient digital entities. Not since last time.
That’s good though, Aesop isn’t all that interesting when he’s everywhere
But then you turn it face down before you have a chance to use it. Also, against most decks there won’t be more than one agenda there, anyway. I can see uses for all the Shards, but I think Utopia is more useful for when you’re about to bring the Apocalypse about, because you can maybe trash one of the Jacksons or bits of ice they were holding onto for the occasion.
Wastlelands. Ghostrunner.
Let’s trash this Jackson and earn the trash credits
Yeah, you’re right - can’t proc mid-'poc.
More thoughts I had:
Femme / Retrieval Run? Pretty easy for the A-meister to enable what with the trashing its own cards thing, and Retrieval Run is nice to get back on your feet after the Apocalypse anyways.
Scrubbed? Survives the Apocalypse, enables Prey, makes Femme more workable as answer to Architect?
Apocalypse would turn it over though, so you can’t really bank it for later. might as well just access normally.
the turn right after an apocalypse though, that’s probably the best time to run and install it
