I don’t think you can choose to not break it once you’ve encountered the ice:
Example: The Corporation plays an Oversight AI and rezzes a Woodcutter. The Runner encounters the Woodcutter while it has zero subroutines. The Runner is considered to have broken all the subroutines on the Woodcutter, and the ice is trashed.
(FAQ, p. 2)
Since it doesn’t say that you have a choice, then I guess you don’t. But, it’s not usually a big deal because, you can jack out after the first piece and only go down one hand size. But, then that’s where Whirlpool comes in.
I mean, woodcutter isn’t that bad if you can get it to do something when you rez it, as long as it doesn’t get parasited immediately. I like adding a bunch of tokens on it with tennin, then seeing how many faeries/deus x the runner has. I obviously hate switchblade
Nope. If there were a card that triggers whenever the runner doesn’t break any subroutines, it would also fire. In this case both of these conditions are true:
The runner breaks all (0) subroutines
The runner does not break any of the (0) subroutines
OK, that makes sense. But the point of Valley Grid is to keep the runner out, not to flatline them, since you have to actually rez it early and then they see they can’t get in (unless you’re playing Whirlpool) so you may as well use ice with ETR subroutines so they can do something other than make the valley grid server and in some cases will be cheaper than salvage / woodcutter.
I want to make jank. I want this jank to involve shipment from mirrormorph, dedicated technician team and salvage/woodcutter and lots of cheap etr. How bad could this be?
So I think I’d put vanity project and global food in there with the future perfect, just to make room for more ice, add draw cards like anonymous tip, hope people really like fis, and have a way to quickly construct a 4-5 ice server(cause parasite and femme) didn’t think of biotech, but what a great idea
Don’t forget Marcus Batty and Gyri Labyrinth, makes it much easier to get them down to 1 hand size! I actually took a Biotech deck based around this idea to a BABW event recently as I’d already qualified for the final and wanted to bring the jank. Pulled off a double Marcus firing Labyrinth sub into ID flip for the kill in one round, and was a psi-game away from a flatline a couple more times.
I was thinking about Test Ground and It can be also used for making early Draco more useful later in the game (well, if they don’t run D4v1d, right? Or Femme). Also Elizabeth Mills?
Chill’s combo in the other thread implied it would. But I am not sure that cards in netrunner “forget” who they are just because they’re derezzed. I don’t even think that would work in Magic.
That’s a perfectly good use for test ground, hence why it is not the worst card in the game. I will make a spark agency mega ad blitz turtlebacks deck with test ground and lose games!
