[Blue Sun] Bootcamp Glacier

I’ve been interested in coming back to the faction that has Power Shutdown for free with the growing popularity of anarch. Blue Sun has a reasonably strong matchup vs the Whizzard hotness, and I’ve been playing against a LOT of NRE-MaxX lately- I’ve been having trouble closing the deal against MaxX lately (and anarch in general) due to NRE and David.

Other BS players, how is your deck faring against NRE MaxX? Here’s my list right now:

Post-NRE BS Glacier

Blue Sun: Powering the Future

Agenda (10)
1x Chronos Project
2x NAPD Contract
3x Oaktown Renovation
1x Priority Requisition
3x Project Atlas

Asset (6)
1x Adonis Campaign ••
2x Executive Boot Camp
3x Jackson Howard •••

Upgrade (4)
2x Ash 2X3ZB9CY ••••
1x Crisium Grid
1x Cyberdex Virus Suite

Operation (11)
3x Hedge Fund
2x Interns
3x Oversight AI
1x Patch
2x Power Shutdown

Barrier (9)
1x Changeling
3x Curtain Wall
3x Hive
2x Meru Mati

Code Gate (6)
2x Datapike
2x Lotus Field ••
2x Tollbooth ••••

Sentry (3)
3x Caduceus

15 influence spent (max 15)
20 agenda points (between 20 and 21)
49 cards (min 45)
Cards up to Chrome City

Deck built on http://netrunnerdb.com.

Even if NRE MaxX runs only one D4v1D (as I think @mediohxcore’s latest iteration does)?

Heresy as it might be, that’s my motivation behind Lotus Field/Patch. If I can’t find a Shutdown for NRE I can patch a Lotus Field for a Curtain/Lotus 6 remote to tax out a score window or force both Davids out/eat a Clone Chip. Maybe it’s my piloting but BS glacier seems by nature a very durdley deck and MaxX’s ability really seems to capitalize on that.

That’s the list i’ve been playing lately and it has done good works against RegMaxx and other NRE Anarch :

bootcamp glacier

Blue Sun: Powering the Future (Up and Over)

Upgrade (4)

Operation (11)

Barrier (8)

Code Gate (6)

Sentry (4)

15 influence spent (max 15)
20 agenda points (between 20 and 21)
49 cards (min 45)
Cards up to Chrome City

Deck built on NetrunnerDB.

I think Bootcamp deck shouldn’t compromise too much on their core gameplan just to beat NRE Anarchs. What you need to do is to rush your first Atlas asap so you could threaten a Power Shutdown if they play their NRE. Having a 3 or 5 subs Hive doesn’t matter if the runner can insta-parasite it anyway.

[edit]
If i’ve to consider anything, it would be removing one of the 2 Crisium for either a CVS or a Snatch & Grab. Both are goods but not for the same matchup.

I don’t get a LOT of time in with BCG, but isn’t a taurus often enough to snipe the NRE and doubles a PPVP threat? Or do those decks really summon answers in enough time? Given the 1 dave in NRE Maxx, I’d think it could do work enough…but PPVP kate has the slack in the tutor to not need clot, so its free for SS I guess. Is taurus not enough?

I think the problem with Taurus is by the time the runner has NRE out, they can usually break it - all they need is a datasucker counter and a NREed Mimic will sail on through. Before they have NRE, it’s dead ice.

I suppose so, good point.

Also, Pow Shutdown is never a dead card - against PrePaid Kate, it kills SMCs and Clone chips, which can be a huge tempo swing and might open up a scoring window. Against Crims, it kills Faeries - not amazing, given your ice suite, but still helpful, and crim is nowhere right now anyway. Against Anarchs, it is almost certain to hit NREs, but can also be used to pick off suckers and other obnoxious cheap programs.

The Taurus is there to kill rdi, not NRE

It runs into Atman 5, which also solves Tollbooth. I know why it’s in there, but I’m leaning more and more towards changing it for something else.

@tomdidiot
First off, I think your Blue Sun + Elizabeth Mills pad pub removal deck was pretty great, so thanks for the inspiration. Now, do you think it’s possible to merge Bootcamp Glacier with your 2nd Place Manchester deck (from the tournament report)? Another way to look at it is that it might be cool to try and fit in an Adonis into your deck. Both decks have similar cores, but I’m curious if it would be worth giving up the dedicated score-out plan of Bootcamp to gain the possibility of being able to flatline the runner. It’s possible that this could be diluting both strategies and it would just trip over itself.
Whatever the case, here’s an example…

My Nationals Version was running Adonis. It only showed up in one game (I usually wasn’t hurting for money, and against pre-paid Kate, my preferred strategy is stacking Barriers, esp. Curtain Wall on my scoring server). It should have allowed me to win that (it was 3rd game in the cut), but I got too timid. I should have gone for the unadvanced Atlas score.

Would Bootcamp be equally as effective if it went with the Bad Pub strategy? I’m asking the reverse of what I suggested above. (Above was importing Adonis shenanigans into Manchester. This is importing bad pub into Bootcamp.) That way we can add some ICE with real teeth as well. The example below has 2 Influence to spare.

I think the BP version is ok in a Scorched deck. You don’t want to mess around with BP in a glaciery deck. Corporate Town has shown a bit of promise as well, as a 1-of. After regionals I’d like to toy around with Blue Sun scorch to see if I can find a good build. I really want to run some Snares. That’s another thread though I suppose.

Worth noting perhaps in this thread is that on Saturday @Cerberus and I were top 2 in a BABW event (the UK leg of ANRPC) with the only two Bootcamp Glaciers in the tournament, and both of us playing ITD versions.

You’re both horrible people. And you know the best bit? I’m probably taking IT Department Bootcamp Glacier to my BABW.

Oh Yeah - ITD is boss. I’ve been still rocking the deck with minimal changes - only loss this weekend was a game, and I shit you not, where I 30 agenda points came out of the deck, and it wasn’t a long game. 3 Howards used in no time, 2 before I got to 3 pieces of ICE, despite running 19 ICE. Worst game of Netrunner I’ve ever played, not often do you get a total dud game, but man that was one of them.

I netdecked yours a week before the event, only change I made was -1 NAPD, +1 Oaktown. I don’t know exactly what Dave’s was, but I’m pretty sure he had 2 Pri Reqs.

No one will expect you to be running Vegan =P
