Competitive Kit Discussion

How do you like Knifed?

Getting rid of Eli without installing anything feels great, and you don’t need 2 MU free like with Parasucker, which is nice if you see Cloaks and breakers early.

It’s maybe not high impact enough for the influence, but I did enjoy seeing the look on my opponents’ faces when it came out, especially since “tax Lady” was a pretty common game plan on the day.

Stopping by with my semi regular UK Nats update… Here is stealth kit against RP piloted by no less than the previous UK Champ!

Kit’s secret ability: win all the Psi games.

To be fair, he was bidding zero against an econ-strapped RP.

Definitely a rock / hard-place situation for Big Red here.

Sort of interesting how both he crushed out two wins against RP players overextending to score Nisei. No doubt cheap HQ accesses and a clock on R&D were helpful getting him into that state.

I’ve been having a hard time with assets lately. I never feel like I have enough econ to keep up with early assets.

Scrubber if you can afford the influence.

wait, kit has influence? Yeah it’s scrubber or nothing. I don’t currently run one, but man she is poor often.

My current build uses 9 influence (2 Lucky Finds, 1 Utopia Shard, 1 Clot, 1 Parasite) but I haven’t run into many asset spam decks recently so I don’t have a scrubber.

I’ve been playing a Kit deck, influence is Stimhack, 2 HQI, Scrubber, Yog, Mimic, Corroder. I’ve been debating changing the Corroder to Lady to get another Scrubber in, actually.

Lady seems super good, especially since you don’t have to burn tokens on barriers in front.

It isn’t, really. “Tax Lady” is the default Corp plan against Shaper, and not getting the Kate discount on Lady or Clone Chip hurts a lot, and SMCing for it against Wraparound is just the worst.

My experiments with Kit are mostly on the theme of “how can I avoid playing Lady”.

I think if you’re running a reg style kit deck, that is, it’s not stealth, lady is ok. Modded goes a long way for RDI, Yog, and Lady, even as a singleton.

My only experience is with Stealth, where I find that it sits in hand until the absolute last possible second since I don’t want to pay for it.

I agree, I always want a lady instead of a corroder when I see eli, but to break a wrap around, I’d hate myself if I had to smc for a dog.

That’s why the good lord gave us inti.

Has anyone tested out DaVinci in a Kit deck yet? It seems like she should be able to build counters early while getting quality central accesses, and could use the DaVinci to install the rest of her rig.

I’ve dismissed it as “garbage outside of Kate or Nasir” based on theory-craft, and I’m not too hot on it in Kate, either.

It costs 1 to install, so you have to install something that costs 4 or more to get the same value as a Career Fair or a Modded.

In my decks, the targets would be Professional Contacts, RDI, Lady, Dagger, and Daily Casts. For RDI and Lady it’s like Modded, but worse (discount is the same, but you have to jump through hoops), and for Daily Casts and Dagger, it’s like Career Fair / Modded, but a lot worse (discount is only 2). With ProCon, you’re getting more value than Career Fair if and only if you make 5 runs that you wanted to make anyways, and you don’t draw any cards.

The instant-speed install is something, and would be nice when I have 4 counters on DaVinci and both Dagger and Lady in hand. But I need to have 4 counters on it, gained by making successful runs on servers I wanted to run anyways, and 2 breakers in hand, which is kind of verging on Magical Christmas Land territory (not the 2 breakers in hand part, though, I find that actually happens pretty often).

I’m open to any insights / experience that contradict me here, but personally I’m not even gonna bother testing it.

Yeah those are all really good points. I guess I was thinking looking at it as a cheaper way than SMC to install the non code gate breakers (you have to have them in hand obviously) at instant speed, but it probably would be tough even for Kit to get that many runs you want to make anyway.
