Cracking the Genome

Definitely play randoms first. It actually takes a lot of skill to pilot.
You have to know what to tutor when - and what to seed archives with.
And like you found - deck space is unbelievably tight.

nice to see my speculations validated
I will be waiting for this to be officially rezzed on OCTGN to test, but you can bet I’ll be dropping my Minh PE faster than Noise Pawns an empty Cache

Does IG want the newly spoilt Breaker Bay Grid?

(Edit: I thought it could fuel a free Hostile Infrastructure rez?. Basically I was floating an issue about which I already had an opinion)

It does not.

played 2 games against @Chris_Pedersen 's brew. this is the troll deck of ANR. 0% fun to play against. props to him for an excruciating deck design.

I did win both games by the skin of my teeth though! I am officially 2 of his 10 losses
I don’t even know if I can wish this deck upon my worst enemies…

**he drew light ICE both games. wish I was recording, second game in particular was epic!

Uh sorry to be that guy, but could you be more specific about how it was 0% percent fun to play against?

I guess I’m asking because I’ve heard some level that kind of unfun sentiment against certain brands of PE play. Is it like that, but without the high-stakes bluffing?

Part of it could be that they were my first 2 games against the decklist and ID at large. experience will help of course, but the thing is that the deck taxes everything, and I mean everything - credits, cards, clicks, and mental faculties. Unlike PE, where at any given board state experience will tell you what to do, I’m not sure @Chris_Pedersen’s decklist will ever present an ‘optimal play.’ any facedown ICE could be a kitsune, so you have to be prepared to eat a snare. there are probably 1 or 2 shocks in archives at any given time, which makes denying the IG ability very compressing. any facedown upgrade could be Hokusai or tori. that is it worth running that IAA remote, when the upgrade could be red herrings. that NAPD is gonna cost you 9, and that’s after the ICE in front of it. it’s just a really brutal deck. again, once the ID is officially out and I get the chance to start playing against it more, some of the mental taxation may be alleviated – but I am guessing not much. I would much rather play against Cambridge/Minh PE than this IG deck. it recovers from siphon’s like no one’s business. I only stood a chance cause my DoppelTesting Ken had insane economy, and I still had no choice but to never trash anything ever. say what you want, but if you try to deny him economy by trashing his MHC’s for 6 and PAD’s for 7, you’re gonna be out of steam by the time he starts scoring. I really think the best route against it is to not trash anything, especially when he is gonna be jacksoning an insane amount every game, and shuffling assets back in if need be

my 2 cents =)

Eater will help. Can break Kitsune, and allows you to flip Archives without accessing any of the traps within – if they have any ice there.

Not a perfect solution or anything, but it’ll help.

Truth. Maybe 2 Swordsman is a good call.

That’s what’s nice about Swordsman. It’s always there waiting for some new AI breaker to take off in order to slap it down.

yeah, looks like swordsman use will spike a bunch among Jinteki ID players once O&C is out. i already play with one to deal with Crypsis/Atman-dependent runners, and will double (if not triple that count, depending on the meta) once Eater is a thing.

Exactly. As I noted in the latest Bad Publicity, not every card made is for the here/now. Some are sleeper tools, waiting to be taken out in times of need.

re: trashing everything in IG
That’s why I like HosInf. I rez that, and people think 3 times about trashing your money assets upon access. If you trash them, it will be extremely painful… for you.

Swordsman is pretty much why I can’t imagine not running a full breaker suite even with Eater. Wraparound is… doable, sure, let’s call it that, what with D4V1D and all. But I’d rather have at least one copy of Mimic, Corroder, and Yog just to keep me somewhat safer against those problem cards.

The main problem is that in Anarch it’s really difficult to reliably get out a suite of breakers. No tutoring, a full rig eats up a lot of MU that you’ll want to spend on viruses and other good stuff, which means you’ll want to play MU producers which leads to more consistency issues…

That being said, Anarch have gotten some recent tools that speed up finding cards. It’s just done in typical Anarch fashion!

3 SMC / 3 Clone Chip in Anarch with Steelskin / Earthrise / Inject as your draw engine and 3 Deja Vu / 3 SoT as your other recursion mechanic. With this kind of setup, you can still do the usual shaper shenanigans of pulling a parasite from nowhere and kill those pesky Swordsman mid run before they trash your eater.

@Chris_Pedersen list I played doesn’t have HI, and I think that’s the right call. It would definitely be a “win more” card in his build, and completely unnecessary, I think almost always it would be a waste of 5c to rez it seeing as the Runner has no means to trash your assets past the first few turns anyway

It’s safe to say Anarch will have the best match up versus IG, between Imp and Eater. Criminals are going to have it rough. jury’s out on Shapers (jury’s out on all still really but)

I pondered how fun this deck could be with Punitive. Just when the trash cost goes up dump an agenda in Archives. When they run it to reveal your cards nuke them off the table. Assuming they hit some shocks along the way it can be hard to reset and prepare for it.

Just other ideas on how to play this.

Subliminal is dope strong in this. So many ways work with this deck.

Scorched
DBS
7 Agenda with subliminal
9 Agenda Work Compression

i can attest to this from other side of table

Spags . . . I played about 6 games with your version of the deck today. Holy crap was it fun. At least for me . . . . . not so much for the other side of the table.

I did think to remove Archer and Susan for two Swordsman. Couldn’t really think of what else to pull since didn’t feel that ice was really building a scary remote. With the extra influence I put in a Grendal Refinery for a econ boost, but not really loving that. Still playing around with some ideas.

Mental Health is interesting, but I’d rather not contribute to larger hand sizes for the runner. This deck can be so threatening from so many different angles. Just wondering how you position to start scoring early?
