It’s way better in EtF though. Extra credit from install and all that. As if EtF needed to be better…
Oh yea the other slot for the Marketing… I dropped the 2nd NEXT Gold. Kept one.
And I’ve played more games with the deck since yesterday on OCTGN, and randoms have been completely shocked at how effective TM was after the game. NEXT forces very binary answers and guessing the correct ones with Marketing is very, very easy. Basically free money.
can we just… ban this statement? forever?
here’s what I’ve been testing.tonight. basically your list with -2 Next gold +1 Ichi +1 turing -1 EoW -1 cerebral -1 jackson (!!) +2 crisium +1 Executive boot camp.
losing the EoW bummed me out, but the solution was right in front of me! Especially in a thin deck that doesn’t want to drag out to late game, replacing the third jackson with an EBC is a great way to add flexibility to a deck with critical assets without losing your ability to “get to a jackson” when you really need one. plus, I’ve used it twice now with snare to stop a legwork mid-run.
2 crisium feels really good, I’m surprised now that I did without before. especially in a deck running archived memories, trashing this feels like garbage to the runner in pretty much every case.
I’ve put together a build but I think it needs tweaked a little bit. I played a few games with it and it seems quite effective.
Self-Destruct (not the chips) (44 cards)
Cybernetics Division: Humanity Upgraded
– Agenda (7 cards)
1 Hades Fragment
3 NAPD Contract
2 Priority Requisition
1 Project Wotan
– Asset (13 cards)
3 Adonis Campaign
1 Chairman Hiro *****
3 Eve Campaign
2 Executive Boot Camp * *
2 Jackson Howard * *
2 Snare! ** **
– ICE (11 cards)
1 Architect
2 Eli 1.0
1 Janus 1.0
3 NEXT Bronze
3 NEXT Silver
1 Tollbooth **
– Operation (5 cards)
2 Archived Memories
3 Blue Level Clearance
– Upgrade (8 cards)
1 Ash 2X3ZB9CY
3 Breaker Bay Grid
2 Ryon Knight
2 Self-destruct
Goal of the deck is to get Chairman Hiro out in a Self-destruct server and ideally a Janus out front. There’s a window after encountering an ICE before the runner can jack-out where you can use self-destruct, so this should be a very effective kill method. Problems I have is I want a third Snare, second Janus, and maybe Crisiums because this deck gets hit hard by Siphons and R&D lock via Keyhole is killer. I’m not sure about the NEXT ICE - the thought was to put cheap ETRs in there.
Probably going to be trying out this set of ICE next: 2 Architect, 2 Eli, 2 Viper, 2 Janus, 1 Turing, 2 Wall of Static. Use the tollbooth influence on a third Snare and cut either Ash, a Breaker Bay Grid, or a Ryon Knight.
I ran an ANRPC event, 25 players, this past weekend. Cybernetics took 3rd, running Mushins, Punitives, and 6 agendas. Interesting build.
To be fair, he was 2-3 with the Cybernetics deck and 5-0 with his runner deck.
I’m having trouble seeing how this deck functions. you have almost no money, but you need to win a trace after hard-rezzing a janus, and you’re relying on them not drawing up before running on hiro? Are you just getting lucky with nickel-and-dime brain damage from ryon?
I don’t mean to come down hard on you; this is a crazy ID and some of the best decks so far have had pretty crazy strategies; I just don’t see one in your list that you could afford - am I missing something here?
Yeah, that sounds about right. I don’t really get the punitive build; the ID just doesn’t support that gameplan very well/at all. Maybe it’s good if you can stick an early Mushin overwriter, or if you simply just surprise people with an unexpected HB play, but neither of those are exactly reliable plans when the counter to it is simply “make money and dig in R&D”
No, I don’t think you are missing anything. A good runner trashing all the asset econ is probably a big problem for this deck. I’ve thought about maybe putting in melange. I’m not completely sold on the econ, but 3 Adonis and 3 Eve with BBG is quite a bit of money if you are able to get it rolling. I decided on BLC over the Hedge Funds because it’s way easier to be at 2 credits after rezzing some of your ICE, and this deck likes installing a lot of cards so the draw 2 is good. I think in general runners are very timid to run at all because Snare is capable of opening up scoring windows.
Another thing I noticed is score windows are more based on the runner starting their turn with a low number of cards in hand. You have a score window the following turn since the runner will have to draw up and definitely doesn’t want to run clicks 3 or 4. You can effectively recycle Hiro back and forth with Archived Memories to make scoring out pretty easy.
hmm, you must be playing very different runners than I; without a true glacier deck or blue sun shenanigans adonises and eves do not stick around here (especially with King Whizzard on the throne). I definitely encourage you to scroll up and take a look at @PeekaySK’s list above; the econ and ice packages are lean and mean and work very well together- don’t know how it would mesh with your traps/etc though.
Melange looks good to me here; it’s must-trash so it could work well with self destruct, plus it only needs to live one turn to pay off.
Melange is great. Creates a ‘must run’ environ.
i agree. definitely a 3-of in most cybernetics decks.
I just hate that you’re discarding cards due to your weenie hand for each turn you melange. If I’m the runner, I’m camping a legwork since you’re not advancing your board state, drawing, and not likely discarding agendas.
On the list of cards I’m afraid of as Cybernetics Division, Legwork solidly occupies spot #295 or so - pretty much, turn 3 and onwards it’s a guaranteed Snare hit. As far as the discarding goes: for one, you can Melange the turn after you’ve installed two things (say, a piece of ICE and a card into a server). Also, there’s often something you don’t mind discarding.
@spags: another good thing about Melange in CD is that Melange kinda works best when it’s your main/only economy ('cause it saves slots then), and having a 44-card deck helps you find it really quickly. Adding the 2 Archived Memories to the mix basically leaves you with 5 copies if needed, which seems to be plenty.
i’m going to try haas arcology ai when I get a shot. it disguises well and if they run the server it’s not as bad as if you’re bluffing an agenda.
Running the right ICE suite only requires like 2-3 Melange fires. Maybe more depending on Siphons.
HQ traffic jams have always been a melange thing, and I don’t think pitching a useless 3rd Architect or Melange is a travesty because of having to do it earlier.
Totally. Off the topic but I think that’s what makes it super good for Valley Grid tactics. Sundews can have that same psychology.
He only has 1 job!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the card text says “The first time the Runner takes a brain damage each turn, he or she takes 1 additional brain damage.” So, it’d fire off of brain-damage inducing cards that the runner has. The Corp GIVES brain damage and deals it to the runner. The runner TAKES brain damage from cards like Stimhack.
i mean every time the corp gives something the runner takes it
No, it isn’t as simple as that.
