E. Kim Appreciation Thread

But that’s true for anybody with an imp on board

yes but they also know that Ed gets a free operation trash. I am just saying, with a new ID, both of my opponents were not happy with the matchup

I’m on two different plans now. Plan 1 is to take my latest deck and scrap the Cutlery and add some multiaccess. Forget about destroying ICE and just get accesses to destroy the non-ICE cards the corp cares about. I might switch from Special Orders to Self-Modifying Codes and then use Stimhacks and Deja Vu.

Plan B is to bring in more of the Cutlery and use an AI breaker suite like a bunch of Crypsis and really focus hardcore on wrecking all of the ICE with Parasite, Cutlery/SameOldThing. I’ll post modified decklists later.

I think Plan A is stronger in Eddy Kim. It seems to me that out of all the Anarchs, Kim benefits most from real accesses. Cutlery, on the other hand, just begs to be paired with an AI breaker like Eater, and as such, doesn’t really seem to slot into a Kim deck that terribly well. I think Datasucker/Parasite is the way to go with an ID like Kim that wants to actually build a rig.

With that rig-building plan in mind, SMC/Stimhack seems to be a no-brainer. The only trick is in influence. As much as I’d like to play SMC, Gordian Blade/Zu, Legwork, and Lucky Find all in the same deck, I just don’t think you can do it. I think you basically have to play 3x SMC, 2x Legwork, and 1x Zu and find your econ elsewhere. If you play Special Order you can play Gordian Blade, but you will probably have to pay the iron price and play it without SMC/Stimhacking it in.

Maybe you could play Nerve Agent instead of the Legworks and find room for 1x Sneakdoor? 3x SMC, 1x Gordian, 1x Sneakdoor is 15 influence and I love the idea of Sneakdoor in an Eddy Kim deck.

Sneakdoor is the route I am taking. I’m obsessed with that card right now. I can play Deja Vus to get SMC’s back if needed and it will run viruses anyway. Also, if Legwork can’t fit in, Wanton Destruction is an in-house “version.” I’m brewing a list now.

I also agree with the Cutlery idea. It just works better with Eater/Crypsis which can still be a Kim deck. It just runs much much differently.

I like Ed the best of the runners… maybe in general.

I was trying to be ready for the SC that just passed… so think to think!

Im thinking real breakers, real economy, Gravedigger, and Cutlery to trigger it.

He has a lot of board disruption, and pseudo multi access built in. Might do Imps too to fuel it all. And killing ice is basically just run efficiency… while Gravedigger triggers from it for influence free ‘multi access’

Seems like a decent plan, but I dont know if im trying to do too much in 1 deck. What do you guys think?

Hemorrhage instead of Gravedigger. He wants to run often and his ID doesn’t synergise well with Gravedigger. That card works better with Whizzard.

So want stealth to work. But too many parts for anarch to have.

plus the only stealth things anarchs get are the crappy fracter-related ones :frowning:

Hemorrhage makes uses of the runs, but discarding on top of discarding… doesnt seem like overkill to you?

You prefer to go all in on an ID, and synergize as hard as you can… rather than be a split threat?

Just curious to hear why you feel that way, especially now with Corps being so diverse and the need to be flexible almost a requirement. Not saying your wrong, just curious to hear your angle… since thats never been the way I thought for this game.

Silencer and Switchblade works because it’s at most 2 per sentry, but Blackcat will face 5+ ice consistently with the new stuff, and it takes another normal credit to get it up. But it pairs nice with Datasucker.

I’m not really thrilled looking at the credit generation cards. Those likely should be tweaked. Obviously the Gambles, Stimahcks and Kati should stay. I’m not sold on Armitage. Maybe it should be Dirty Laundry. Part of me wants to jam some Scrubbers in there - it’s a pet favorite card for me.

But this is pretty much no-frills. You abuse Edward/Imp to trash important corp cards. You get in with the multiaccess cards. One of your early SMC’s can be used to fetch hDjinn (I hate drawing Djinn’s 2 and 3). You’re really asking a lot from SMC so I put the Deja Vu in.

Feel free to offer some tweaking advice on the econ cards. I’d really like to get a third mimic in there. I like drawing into my icebreakers naturally. Could argue that 1 copy of Yog makes sense, too.

Is Kati really a non-negotiable? Does this deck sit back and then go crazy?

Kati is great for big heymakers, but I’m not sure that this will do that.

Kati is there because people are running taxing ICE. What would you replace her with? Dirty Laundry?

Day Job is the only real competition for that slot, although Liberated Account is also fine. Even if they’re less efficient, the question is more about how the deck operates.

I like your list, Hannibal, it’s similar to what I’ve been having success with.

I think Dirty Laundry is a must–it has synergy with Kim’s ability. Getting in and trashing things.

Liberated Accounts is also very good to me. 3 DL 3 SG 2 Liberated 2 Kati 2 Day Job has been working. I’m never rich–tend to hover around 12 credits–but the important thing is to either have a Liberated with money on it waiting, a charged Kati, or a Sure Gamble/Day Job in hand.

I think Sneakdoor is a tough use of influence–costly to set up and you aren’t getting Gabe bux to offset the cost. Anarchs are usually MU-stretched to begin with.

I’ve been having the most success with the Inject/Parasite recursion package. But yours looks fun too.

I didn’t like it in my original build where I was using PPVP as the only “abuse” of Dirty Laundry but now thhat the list has Datasuckers, I’m reconsidering it.

Do you use Stimhack at all? I’ve considered Liberated but the upfront cost of 6 is what makes me shy away. I might reconsider Day Job again. I just hate clicking into it.

Sneakdoor is purely for lategame surprise factor. It functions like a third Stimhack in that it lets me get into HQ when the Corp thinks I haven’t got enough money to be scary enough to threaten an important server. Admittedly, I hav e to test it more to see if it’s worth it. Where do you spend your influence?

I would like to run Inject but I’d need more recursion to feel good about it. I assume some of your influence must be spent on Clone Chip.

To be honest, how often will you be able to trash cards that the corp has installed? Sure, against PE and NEH, it will be get pumped pretty often, but against Blue Sun or other popular indentities, it won’t happen too much. However, you will still be running anyways. And it will 100% pump the hemorrhage. Also, in a deck with hemorrhage, it acts like a Sneakdoor Beta or Legwork. Oftentimes, you will find yourself shut out of the mid-late game from the HQ, however, you will find yourself to be able to run at least somewhat often. And you can threaten the HQ even without being able to run it. Well, that’s how I look at it.

Well, I did mention also that I had a focus on Gravedigger and Cutlery events. So after SOT and Deja Vu… call it 10 I know for sure a game on ice… plus whatever upgrades and assets.

I get your point though. I def thought about the all out hand assault thing… and I did it for a while in Kate (Yea, I did 12 influence of Hemorrhage in Shaper what of it. It was awesome.) so I know that as a concept works. Exploring other space.

But you make a good point… depends on your meta maybe? Weyland in underplayed by me while HB and Jinteki non-PE are the most popular.

I feel like Liberated is viable with Day Job in faction. You’d spend about the same time using an Armitage to get up to 6 and a Day job just provides more.
