I could play your deck in the store champ invitational!

Here’s the rundown. I’m scheduled to commentate the invitational next weekend, but I also really want to play myself. So @mediohxcore suggested a plan: I could play some really janky decks in the Swiss rounds, miss the cut, and then switch over to commentating the double elimination rounds. Hopefully, this should also help me get some different insights into the tournament from the other commentators!

Since I’ll be treating this as a relatively low-stakes affair, that’s where you all come in. Post your most interesting, fun, promising, experimental, or unorthodox decklists in this thread. In a week’s time, I’ll pick my favorite corp and runner decks to bring to the invitational, in one of the toughest playing fields ever assembled. If time permits, I’ll talk briefly about the decks I chose and my performance on stream at the end of the day. After the tournament, I’ll write up a tournament report, give my thoughts on the decks, and discuss any changes that I would make with them going forward.

Some ground rules:

  • Maximum 4 decklist submissions per person.
  • Please paste your decks here in an easily-readable format. Include a short description of what your deck is doing and how it works.
  • (This is probably very obvious, but don’t post any decks that you don’t want me to play.)
  • I reserve the right to make minor alterations to your list to better fit my playstyle.
  • The Valley should be legal for the tournament, although I may have to improvise if it doesn’t end up being rezzed on OCTGN in time.

Sound good? Then I’m looking forward to seeing what y’all come up with!

Might want SMC or logos, not sure. The idea is to build up to one big power turn where you get 20+ accesses on R&D and clear out hq, with parasite and darwin in case ice somehow gets rezzed.

Now this one is a bit jankier. All can equal 0, so I put a bunch of cheap 0 sub ice in with valley grid to see if you can get a flatline like this.

It might be better with 3 napd over HoK and Philotic, just to buy you more time to set up. Ideal server is all the 0 subs + a cell portal. Bastion might want to be WoS, but nobody plays atman atm. the ice that looks real is for centrals.

This one I don’t know. I’ve never gotten it to work, but it should have all of the pieces to be somewhat decent. The plan was to go in on eater in a criminal deck that can use it to gain cash a lot easier and to ride pheromones + lamprey for economic shutdown. But I’ve never been able to get it to work. Probably because I’ve always sucked with criminal and something isn’t balanced correctly. It’s been a gabe deck too, but I think this thing wants the full 17 influence.

I’ve played this deck quite a lot and it has done quite well. Keys:

  1. Engine
I use Archive and Reclamation as a mid to late game engine. Use archive memories to retreive biotic labor, reclamation, mirror, or asset, as necessary. Use Reclamation to reclaim archive memories. Rinse, repeat.
  2. Panic Button / Reuse. Big bio ice will be recovered from archives by howler. So feel free to reuse your hand about once per match. I usually net about 18 cr off it. With a jackson out you can also reuse agendas. Panic button is also your second defense against account siphon. Draco ice is your choice hq defender.
  3. Panic button / IQ. Early game once you get the hang of the deck you can virtually always bait out runs on IQ’s with cost of 0-2. An Iq on Hq you can rez the ice for cheap, and then use panic button to make the break strength whatever you want.
  4. Exhaustion to a scoring window: I drop assets behind popups. So you are making 2 cr for each asset you drop. Even wizzard loses game state by running to trash. Especially as you are using mirror to drop some of your assets. Once the runner doesn’t run every face down card every turn, its worth dropping an agenda behind a single ice. Usually I aim to score 1-2 agendas this way. This time is also a good time to drop jackson, for the double draws to boost iq.

Which sets up
6. The usual biotic agenda for the win.

Thoughts and varients.
Yeah. I know I don’t have Ash. I haven’t needed him. I have played with 1 more research station. I like it. I have played with taurus to help with stealth andy. I think a better answer to stealth andy is just start scoring out like crazy. That and don’t go crazy with setting up assets- and make sure to cover them all with ice. You cannot give away free 2 credits to sec test. Additionally, you have multiple ice to make stealth andy miserable: IQ & draco. In a scoring remote these can have high enough values to exceed his deployed stealth credits.

I don’t usually pop beta. Its better to reuse the cards into the archives.

I’ve been playing with ashigaru - as it synergizes well with iq.

And yeah I know. 10 inf.

I’ve had a mixed record with this. Generally mulligan for Kati and Theophilius, drop Kati while applying a bit of early pressure and then spend down my money, drop Theo and take off Kati. I then draw/gain money while dropping the interfaces and using recurred Stimhacks for runs and to Savoir-faire breakers into play.

The deck does have a slight psychic field/komainu problem, but Cambridge PE seems to be fading from the meta anyways and corps are getting slower, so this could be its time to shine.

The interesting part is you don’t actually need a large hand, just a large handsize.
Note: Very unoptimized.

I include this deck which is less polished, but because I want to introduce a new way defending against scorched (at least I’ve never seen anyone use it but me).

Namely, if the corp has few 0-1 cards he can’t readily plan on a scorch. His odds of scoring the scorch double combo on the draw become so slim it becomes a losing strategy.

In the following deck I was experimentnig with e3, doppleganger as a way to apply more pressure against RP and NEH. My more usual break out would be deep red, raymond flynn, and 2 knights. SOT also valuable.

On the protestors, don’t worry if your current gets over written. First - it is when the corp has to go from a large hand to a small hand that IP is most valuable. And you have more recursion than the corp.

Use recursion as necessary for: IJ, blackmail.

Also played around with code syphon as an engine for data leak. Works well with eater.

Play some sort of shell game nonsense for your corp.

I don’t have a runner deck to suggest but you should make sure it contains a Push Your Luck. Bonus points if you import it out of faction.
