I’ve been playing her a lot with Logos instead of Desperado/Security Testing, and every game I’ve played has been a win or at least competitive. Averaging about 50% or so against NEH, too. I’ve found it to be fantastic, and excellent for responding to early corp scoring. Searching for a Legwork or Indexing and bouncing their ICE is a fantastic play. That said, money can definitely become an issue, and there are a few games I’ve missed having that run-for-3-credits drip.
Otherwise, PeekaySK is completely right, and I still include at least one HQI. My ideal opening hand is Logos, Kati Jones, Mr. Li, Sure Gamble, and Lucky Find.
The only non-NEH game I haven’t won with her was against a jank HB:EtF running Eliza’s Toybox, which is actually quite strong against her!
I don’t really think Paper Tripping should be in any deck. Isn’t it priority anyway? So you can’t play it after a Siphon.
@tzeentchling I recently swapped Desperado for Logos as well. I think it is a far superior console for Leela. Desperado is great against NEH Fastro, but in every other competitive match-up I think Logos is better. Instantly recovers damage against PE, and searches out answers against glacier decks. It can find a singleton Plascrete in a pinch and allow you to start being aggressive, etc etc
@Flickerwisp Double Siphon is strong, but even 10c loss doesn’t mean much to some Corps. Double Siphon might be strong within the first few turns, but once you’re into mid-game I find RP/Blue Sun and any HB have plenty of money to shrug off double Siphon, even if you’ve been pressuring for rezzes, which sometimes will hurt you more anyway. I am considering Crash Space to make Siphon more profitable for me, as in many match-ups it is largely just a burst economy card in the meta right now.
Considering how much you have to run like a real criminal again people in the know, I think Desperado over Logos is pretty much a must. Also, heed Moistloaf. Mr. Li is a must.
Astrolab in leela. It’s the perfect complement. Not only does it help with early draw but by selective trashing you can cause the Corp to create more servers.
(I’ve had plenty of games where I was running 3 copies of Li, the bastard never showed and it was fine, so I ended up dropping him for more econ and John. Wondering if there’s something I’m missing)
Anyone cares to share your current decklists with Leela? I’m finding logos awesome when you build more toward control, playing a slower game, and also playing keyhole. My only issue with that is that NEH is still too fast. Maybe playing RDI could help, as you can lock them instead, but I’m not sure.
Played for a good 10 games with Desperado before switching it for Logos to test. I prefer Logos for the time being. It helps a lot versus Blue Sun, where it can sometime be difficult to apply early pressure. Logos is also very strong in general out of Leela, IMO. I’ve heard people call it “cute” to use Logos with Leela, but the ability to open up HQ or RND and find the best tool to exploit that opening (RDI/Legwork/Siphon) shouldn’t be underestimated. One more change I am going to do soon is -1 Rex +1 Passport (going to 2 and 2).
My version is basically a criminal good stuff deck which also has a lot of redundancy when it comes to the breakers. Mr. Li is great in good stuff deck with a lot of redundancy because not drawing a certain card (or not drawing it right now) is just as good as drawing that card for free a lot of the time. I’ve also been running three because getting him early really helps to make up for that loss of consistency you have from not playing Andy. He’s probably the best way to make constructive use of your down time when you can’t/ have no inclination to run.
I’ve never been a huge fan of Jon M. and that might just be force of habit at this point (@dashakan tells me we should’ve played it at worlds) , but this deck is without a doubt a Kati deck against certain match ups, and I think that John is a liability in here. I spend a good amount of time not running as well, that that reduces his value.
On another note, I fear that Leela just isn’t as good as Andy, at least currently. Leela has a Sentry problem that Andy doesn’t have. Garrotte is just not the Mimic + Data Sucker Package. Ichi 1.0 in RP in particular has been making me scratch my head wondering how to deal with it since you can’t just slot mimics in there to deal with RP cheaply. Garrotte also doesn’t play nice with Sneakdoor, which I think you need if you ever want to beat Caprice on HQ. I’m going to try out some more stuff, but the new cards coming out from O&C are going to be front and center for testing for the moment.
I do run 3x Faerie and it’s the best Sentry breaker in the game. The problem comes when you’re playing against RP that runs 6-8 sentries that are often must break. Against NEH, this isn’t so much of an issue. At worlds I was doing a lot of running with the trifecta of Corroder, Gordian’s and Faerie and people wouldn’t rez their 4 cost sentry (Architect or Roto) because it wasn’t worth the credits if I could just break it and then probably just drop another Faerie. E3+ Grappling Hook takes up too much deck space and both are pretty bad on their own and still suffer from the same problem hat Faerie does, so they are not really a solution. Crescentus’ 1 memory cost means it’ll be moldering in your hand a lot of time and only help if you are actually keeping the corp poor. Ideally, it will be keeping them poor, but it does almost nothing vs an RP deck that’s had a Sundew and 2 MHC running for the last 4 turns.
RP is gonna make you run a lot and for a lot of money. Good one shots are great against it (i.e. Faerie) because they help you make crucial early runs and save money in the late game, but they can’t be your main plan for breaking Sentries beyond the beginning of the game.
My current list has two Suckers and a Mimic for this very reason. Only problem is, you can’t really run Sneakdoor then (without swapping to BOX-E, which I don’t like)… then again, Security Testing + Desperado + Datasucker is enough Archives pressure, and the loss of Sneakdoor means I was comfortable with cutting the third Shutdown.
It plays more like an Anarch deck after the changes (has a bit of a ramp-up time), but I feel like that synergizes with Leela’s ability rather well.
Leela seems really strong against various fast advance builds, as well as the all 5/3 decks that can’t afford taking a third turn to score. RP is fairly annoying though, as they can play around your ability while scoring niseis and NAPDs. I’d say she’s a bit better than most of the criminal identities, but worse than andy on average. Definitely great in FA matchups.
8-2 today. Losses to accessing Fetal AI + Snare against an otherwise harmless Nisei Division. Then a match point double Merlin against TWIY. Apparently you need a full hand against everyone these days. Dominated the Blue Sun matchups.
no tutors outside of 2 logos? how’s that working for you? I usually like all 3 logos just to have it in time against fast decks, and test run has been a godsend for me, recurs trashed programs, lets you siphon through ice really early and lets you sneakdoor early, then threaten it later without gumming up your mem
