If I remember correctly, today is going day that Alsciende tweeted his deckbuilder would be going live. I understand that sometimes these things have set backs though.

Yeah, I am coming around on running banner factions as opposed to Fealty. It just allows you access to so many more characters–cheap ones at that–which I am finding is very important in this game.

With so few loyal targets it seems like Fealty will get better with time.

Aye, at the minute I’m thinking Fealty is best out of Targ where you can threaten Draceys! every challenges phase and maybe Night’s Watch, letting you play your Ravens every turn for free.

Other than that, being able to banner in the Tyrell Renown characters or the Baratheon kneel package is just too good. Plus the Wildling Horde is better than most of the faction specific Armies too if you are not kneeling your faction card for Fealty.

This is so damn essential. I bought three cores at Gencon and have not been tempted to touch the game until this.

Seriously, @Alsciende. Don’t know if you are a reader here but NRDB is massive and you deserve so much thanks for it. It looks like ThronesDB will be more of the same, and I think it’s really going to help spread the young game.

I bought into Conquest when it first came out, and while I certainly don’t regret it and still think it is a really tight game, the lack of strong third party sites for exchanging info really holds me back from investing further time into the game.

I feel super spoiled by things like Stimhack, NRDB, OCTGN, and Jinteki.net. Community members making the game experience better, which brings in more people, who then proceed to make the game experience better themselves. I hope Thrones can do this as well!

Don’t be fooled by the apparent generosity, @Nobo715. I only make deckbuilders because I’m too lazy to build my own decks :stuck_out_tongue:

So I’ve been playing this Night’s Watch/Bara deck. I don’t get to play on OCTGN a ton (seems like games can take like 2 hours!) but I’ve gone 2-0 with it. As long as you don’t go all-in on Old Bear and the Wall, NW is very light-footed and versatile, and two of their powerhouse characters can’t be Milk’d (Jon and Aemon). If you can get Mel up and kneeling as well, you are in good shape.

Seems like NW is able to sometimes get to about 10 power, and then basically not do any challenges as FP, block everything, and then Wildfire Benjen for the win.

Messenger Ravens are just huge. Such good draw, and with The Wall plus Painted Table, they frequently help you win dominance. I think NW might be stronger than people are giving them credit for.

Building Orders is strong here to fetch the Wall, Painted Table, Milk of the Poppy, or Longclaw, all of which are great cards.

I love Meager Contribution as well. It helps smooth out the fact that NW doesn’t have a cost reducing location.

Do you think this strategy would be any better with flipped banners? Would Stannis, Robert, the Red Keep, and Ours is the Fury/Cosolidaton help more than Old Bear and Hunter/Raven/Meager Contribution? Baratheon has a reducer themselves.

I’m sure the deck would be good, but it would lose the Night’s Watch engine. NW has great cheaper dudes who all work together with the Wall as well as with Jon Snow. The R’hllor package helps bring it home by kneeling problem characters.

Just a couple thoughts after playing a few test games. The Iron Throne and chamber of the painted table is a good combo, better than I initially thought. Paxter Redwyne is awesome and really enables an event heavy deck although I’m not sure what his ability does for The hands judgement. I only have 2 cores at the moment but I’m thinking a full three is necessary to Tier 1 decks right now, whether that will be true in a year or so is the ultimate question.

Borign Dumb Aggro deck. Keep punching. Rush a bit with robb, Randyll and KoF. With little direct kill, this deck is scary :stuck_out_tongue:

Renown is really good apparently :stuck_out_tongue:

Are you still playing this deck? I’m thinking about building a NW deck and this looks as good as anything else I’ve seen atm.

I started out 3-0 and ended up 3-3 before I switched over to trying new things. I think it’s a pretty good deck, give it a shot and let me know how it goes.

I will but it won’t be an exact carbon copy since I don’t own three cores atm. I like the synergy though with Nights Watch and Baratheon.

OK, so now I’m 4-3 because you inspired me to try it again. I really like NW, but it does still seem that other factions are easier to play. However, if you get good draw and the Wall up, you can do pretty well. This deck should do OK vs Greyjoy and Bara by having 36 characters with many cheap guys to get onto the board to just block stuff and soak claim. Very sad but had to remove Old Bear. Someday, old pal.

OK guys, after lurking and lurking im saying screw it - im jumping in, axe raised. How many cores really do i need? They are around £25 a pop here in the UK, so for 3x cores that means £75, which is a lot of money to build a comp deck (he says staring at the £500 and counting pile of netrunner cards).
