What I like about Pup is that you can’t really plan to pay through it if there’s an unrezzed ICE in front which could be a Chum.
This is my vote for weirdest new piece of hardware. Anyone want to take a guess what it’s for? I assume it’s probably for taking out the ‘human’ assets: trash it to destroy a sysop/clone/executive that you’re accessing. (Or maybe even one you’re not, which would make keeping Criminals out of HQ of even more paramount importance if you’re going to play Chairman Hiro.)
It looks like you can only play it if you made a successful run on HQ. Maybe its some sort of evidence planting thing? But it does seem an odd thing to put into a cyberspace game. Only time will tell
Well, in original Netrunner there were vehicles and armoured fridges and all sorts. Maybe they’re starting to emphasise aspects of the meat world as well as the hacking.
Passport I’m guessing is the Alias/Breach for Decoders.
Pup is awesome, but I think Jinteki might be getting a little bit Sentry heavy, but I think Komainu and Pup are the first two Sentries for Jinteki.
Fast Track seems pretty crazy in my opinion. Weyland grabbing a Hostile Takeover or Geothermal Fracking or maybe even being able to drop SEA Source and just use it to tutor for Posted Bounty. NBN having 6 Astroscripts sounds ridiculous. Same for Jinteki and House of Knives. HB seems like they like it the least, though Efficiency Committee would be a strong target. In general, I like it a lot because it makes 4 cost agendas really strong in general.
Harmony Medtech is meh even compared to the old Jinteki IDs.
Interested to see what Weapon is for. Kinda meh on new Criminal Runners.
The new criminal runners will certainly have a very hard bar to pass (and it will be terrifying if they do).
Just wondering, what are the chances that Fisk will be in Honor and Profit?
zero, since they’ve disclosed the names of all three new criminals: Silhouette, Ian Stirling, and a rogue Tenma clone named “Ken” :).
It’s more that the faction doesn’t interest me that much. I’ve sort of reserved it for being my “Spike” deck, to use the MTG term. I’m more of a Spike/Johnny.
Yeah, it’s hard to imagine something being better than Gabe/Andromeda in an objective sense. I’m guessing that they’ll be more like the niche IDs we saw in Creation and Control.
I’ve been playing H&P spoiled cards via proxy, and I must say, Cerebral Cast is seriously underestimated.
In testing, it’s a monster. If the runner has fewer than five cards in hand and no Plascrete, he MUST take the brain damage, else Scorch + EMP will flatline. Basically, as with Weyland, Plascrete becomes a priority the moment it’s drawn (and NOBODY I played figured that out the first time).
I foresee Jinteki decks splashing multiple scorches as well. A dedicated PE deck that rocks Casts, House of Knives, and Philotic will be quite a challenge for decks that don’t pack Jinteki hate. The ability to inflict BD or sabotage resources is invaluable as well.
Also, as the runner, you don’t want to end a turn at 0 credits after running, because that means the psi game will connect with no risk.
Tallie Perrault!!!
(yes, Cerebral Cast is Gray Ops, too)
(if people start bitching in 3 months about why she isn’t neutral since she’s an auto-include, I’m going to laugh sooo hard)
I’d be tempted to go more towards the Closed Accounts (and possibly Freelancer) route. Freelancer is especially appealing - when I’m trying to actually kill the runner, few things bother me more than Public Sympathy and Wyldside, possibly Pro Contacts.
Actually, the runner ending the turn at less than two credits is all you need.
But yeah, this box will free up a lot of influence for Jinteki, putting them in a position to go all-in on the big toys such as multi-SE and Biotic Labor (which is where NBN is currently at; the reason I think it’s doing so well right now).
Indeed, I am very scared of that card!
Hell, casts is good at threatening to kill Kati Jones and Pro Contacts too. The tag or brain is going to be a legitimately tough choice a lot of the time.
Does Cerebral Casts give some serious potential to the HB Chronos Protocol? Does the threat of serious brain damage make tag punishment more viable from that ID?
Dunno, fitting in both Cerebral Casts and enough tag punishment to matter might get tricky. Then again, with HB’s archive recursion tricks you might be able to get away with 2 copies of Casts, 2 copies of Scorched, and a Closed Accounts for good measure. That’s 15 right there
I’m getting some decision paralysis with all of the awesome upcoming Jinteki cards. I want to run all of them!
Yeah, every mock deck I make has room for about 10 ice. It’s rather aggravating.
Could it be that we’re at the dawn of a new era, an era where Snare isn’t awesome enough to be a 3-of?
Seriously though, ever since Bako, Tsurugi and Yagura came out, I’m finding myself actually satisfied with an all-red ICE suite, and find myself spending influence on random crap I don’t need, just “so it isn’t left unused”. It’s a wonderful feeling.
I already run 7-9 ice in PE! Unless I go back to iceless… Yikes.
