[Noise] Welcome (back) to the Church

Did you not switch to Wyldside + Pancakes? Did you try it out?

Hey Stiv, no and no. Didnt try it out, saw it, thought “now what do i cut to make that work”, didnt find a solution, and just kept the good ol 3 Inject, 3 Ive Had Worse, and 2 Earthrise Hotel as draw. Since i ran those, card draw has never been a problem really.
Is is consistent? I fear it takes to long to setup, especially against NEH and RP.

We used to run wyldside by itself, 2-5 turns with 3 clicks isn’t so bad, just inject and dig hard and you’ll find chrono more often than not. Sometimes you’re not even going to install wyldside though, depending on how hub starts.

You could always install wyldside. Chronotype then becomes a dirt-cheap tag-resistent Beckmann.

I also played Noise at the GĂśttingen Regional but with Wyldside and Chronotype. The deck went 5-1, the only loss against NEH FA because of a really bad draw. Two weeks earlier at the Dortmund Regional I got 4-3 with Noise, but the losses were all really close.
In GĂśttingen I tried Crypsis as a solution for the Lotus Field problem but never installed it. So I would go back to Knight.

Especially against slower decks Chronotype + Wyldside is just awesome. I won all my matches against RP because they just couldn’t keep up with the constant virus spam and runs.

Im really struggling to put together a list with any less than 3x IHW, primarily due to the prevelance of meat damage flatline in my meta, but also for the UK as a whole - there have been butcher shop NEH and secondary-win-via-scorch Blue Sun in the top 16’s of a few OP comps now.

Going down to 2x seems a little dicey, how do people play around scorch with this amount of tech against it? Just win the econ race?

I think you could go -1 Sure Gamble, +1 IHW. Maybe cut one Corroder if you want to rely more on d4v1d against Wraparounds.
In GĂśttingen I actually played 3 IHW and only 1 Crypsis instead of the 2 Knights.

My breaker suite pre clot was 2x mimic, 2x crypsis, 2x d4v1d, i think corroder is probably a very smart include now glacier is gaining speed (pun intended). Iv struggled with knight due to the Blue Sun matchup, although as a backup answer to lotus field its probably well placed.

I think it also comes down to the draw package, im still prefering the burst of IHW+inject, which kind of requires 3 of each, although im going to really give wyldside+chronotype another shot as better players than myself are having great success with it.

How do you handle games where you don’t draw wyldside and/or Aesops?

I find Inject a crucial part of the deck, and I’m wondering what’s your experience without it?

Do you always just luck out and draw those cards quickly? Especially in your deck, you have 0 card draw (let’s say you have to keep IHW) to get those wyldsides. Do you just click for draw until you get them?

I’m still getting on ok without it. Blacklist is everywhere so I’m very hesitant to dump virus’ into archives in the first place. With BL and more Glacier around I’m back to Sahasrara Noiseshop rather than CC. I think Inject is superb in CC Noise but I’m happy to be patient and apply pressure where necessary without it.

On the rare occasions I am up against a rush player without my resources out it is a tough match-up. But I think every deck struggles when its key bits n bobs are missing.

If you run Rara and Aesop - what do you do with all that money?

Through the looking glass a bit but i think this looks pretty fun. Someone on NRDB floated the idea (edit: to give credit where its due, this is the original: Riot v.2 (Run a lot Noise) ¡ NetrunnerDB), i ran with it a bit and stuck moar viruses in. Idea is to mill in between keyhole runs so there isnt a turn where your not pressuring RND.

Fun, or competitive?

Compared to Medium, Keyhole is… not a virus, costs $1 more, takes +1 MU, never provokes purges, doesn’t discourage the Corp from Fast Tracking, and doesn’t prevent the Corp from drawing agendas. It doesn’t even seem close to me.

I’m going to go @spags on everyone in this thread that posted a list with 0x Clot and remind you to #slottheclot. If there is an Runner ID at all that’s responsible to play Sheriff and prevent Fastrobiotics from winning, it’s definitely the one where the worst case scenario is it’s 0 influence, you pawn it for a mill and a net of +$1.

Thanx.

I completely agree. It’s a bloody virus, and Noise already has innate issue v. FA. Why not #slottheclot?

The case against clot is, I think, frail. But it goes something like what’s the point if your opponent can just score in a remote. Noise is pretty good at laying siege to R&D and digging really deep with Medium so doesn’t necessarily need clot.

NEH causes Noise trouble because it’s capable of setting up to score Fast, not because they’re set up to Fast Advance.

But in general, I think I’m with you #slottheclot.

Noise can sometimes just lose against rush decks, and it’s generally how you should play if you’re up against Noise. Clot doesn’t really help there, and I don’t think it helps with NEH packing CVS as standard.

Frankly, with NEH packing CVS, I think the matchup is all but lost with or without Clot. Your Medium digs get shut down, or Imp gets wiped before you can trash assets, you can’t get Datasuckers from Archives to deal with chunkier ice, Parasite gets delayed by turns… It’s a pretty rough side effect of teching against Clot. Architect, Wraparound and fast scoring was bad enough.

Yeah i guess so. Its more fun than competitive, and what attracted me to it was basiclly that - its fun0 to try new things. I also think there is value in going left field now and again if only to break trope and keep archetypes fresh (although on the other hand theres a reason certain ideas are used again and again within an archetype and some are not - because they have been proven to be effective).

I take your point though, medium > keyhole. And yes #slottheclot fist in the air

To be honest, you don’t need to have both of them in play in first turn. I had some games where it took me more than half my deck to find a Pawnshop. In those game you are of course slower but it is still possible to build decent pressure.
There is a really high chance you will find Pawnshop or Wyldside early and thats enough for the early game. And yes, sometimes you just have to click for draw.

@ #slottheloct: I really wanted to bring clot when I decided to play Noise but I just couldnt find room for it … Especially in the NEH matchup a lot of the time I end up using my Clone Chips to recur Caches, to keep my economy running. If I have to keep the CCs ready for Clot, it slows the corp down but it also makes me slower. I also means that I have to check every remote which can be difficult and with CVS its easy to play around Clot anyways …

I think this is a very good topic to discuss - how and when do you use clone chips for that 7 credit boost?

I almost never clone chip a cache - it seems like a waste of instant speed parasite or even better, of a recurring David.

What are general thoughts on this by the experts?
