[Noise] Welcome (back) to the Church

I play with cool guys don’t worry;)

In shl4 Noise was 18-4.

Cripsys is good breaker in noise. It grants extra mill, is installed with grimoire counter and cyber feeder discount. Can be pawned with aesop. I don’t think I will drop it in near future.

I certainly like 1 but I’m still unconvinced about the 2nd. All of the points you gave in its favour could be applied to any Virus, and Crypsis is far more expensive than most.

I really want one in mid game. Single crypsis is not reliable. I could play special order in this slot, but I don’t have extra influence.

I know this is heretical but in my noise lists I’ve been able to drop down to 2 Aesops/1 Kati to free 2 influence while still filling that econ spot. You could try the same if you feel your draw is fast enough.

Here is the list I’m working with, desperately trying to eschew wyldside, but I rarely find myself not spending 1 click to draw the VAST majority of my turns. It packs gamble, aesops+casts, full 3 of each, enough IHW to survive and benefit from draw, and stimhack, but no lamprey. I’d like to get 2 in, but for now I’m just using imp as HQ pressure, and the third imp is more important than the 2 lamprey IMO. Oh and 2 dave before lamprey. So many good toys…

I can’t exactly say that I like the -1 clone chip for hades (adding CF because I have 1 inf and the resources line up). Hades is one of those odd cards that works great, but it also works when its not in the deck.

Just a few of my thoughts for what it’s worth, I don’t play Sure Gamble mainly because when I’ve tried it I never played it outside the first 2 maybe 3 turns. It’s really good to help against the tempo hit Wyldside gets you-I can’t argue that. Personally between the two (Armitage versus Sure Gamble) Armitage helps you catch up if you fall behind-which I find myself doing a lot of times to keep the Corp from getting too far ahead. To a lesser extent, another reason I don’t like Sure Gamble is (I know this is weird) that I like face checking Tollbooths with less than 3 credits. Tollbooths are everywhere and to make the Corp rez it without the tempo hit is really good. I feel this deck’s biggest weakness is Butcher shop, the Utopia Fragment and Hades Fragment both are extremely good against Midseasons. You can Hades at the end of their turn to get around Midseason and Punitive if need be. I don’t know why people are against Wyldside and Adjusted Chronontype, it’s two free clicks a turn for a two card combo. I know it’s expensive but it seriously makes up for itself in a few turns, also you can always sell the resources back to Aesop and it is extremely helpful against damage decks such as Argus or PE. Lamprey is amazing against RP and other glacier type builds, but it does require some play testing to know when to use it.

When Noise first resurged, Plascrete was in many lists…

I keep looking at the 5 cards for the Wyldecakes combo and wondering if 3 Peddlers and 2 Earthrise would be better. Def more resilient to Midseasons decks.

Disrupter should totally have been a virus.

Thank you for the feedback! I did cut 3x Daily Casts to make way for the 3x Street Peddler, so you’re probably quite right that this version will be short on economy. I probably use my first Cyberfeeder on average 10 times, so I feel like that’s a worthwhile investment, but now that I think about it more, I’d feel fine going down to 2; the second one is not nearly as good, and I rarely want to play the third one at all. (I’ve also been playing with Turntable, so maybe I’ll discover that the extra credit from Grimoire + Cache makes up for it in long-term econ.)

The Shards are inspired by Pacer’s version, haven’t tested them as much yet either. I like your point that Clone Chip becomes better with Faust, so I might go back to 3x CC.

I hate the feeling of not having a Medium when R&D is open, which is why I pack 2, but I guess it’s not a huge sacrifice if I’m using the card slot to see more of my deck anyway. Probably better to cut than anything else.

Last Saturday I took this Noise list: Regional – Böblingen (Germany) (35 players) - StimHack to a Regional (was 4th after Swiss, ended 6th, Noise went 4-2 on the day). I really liked not having to draw both Aesop and Wyldside early, Inject/I’ve Had Worse/Hotel draw engine worked despite the deck being 3 cards over minimum size. But the card I didn’t like and installed only once during the day was Crypsis. It’s expensive to install, expensive to use and eats clicks if you want to use it more than once.

So I decided to try various Anarch breakers and a deck which is a bit closer to typical “good stuff Anarch” decks that see a lot of play currently, mainly out of MaxX, Valencia or Whizzard. All those decks want to play Datasucker, Parasite, Imp and Medium anyway, why not try this with ID that has great synergy with those cards. I cut down the number of viruses, only leaving those that have merit on their own, not only as mill + Aesop fodder. At the moment the list is:

I’m happy with the change and I think I’ll need to find 1-2 icebreaker slot more - it works way better to have somewhat unreliable access to good breakers than reliable to a really bad one. I’m definitely adding a Faust when The Underway is released. Maybe also a 2nd D4v1d. Unfortunately deck slots are hard to find here so the choices will definitely be hard.

I hate to be that guy, but is knight your lotus field answer? Did you play blue sun? I strict run crypsis for stimhack threat and lotus field, since theres little better for answer, short of spooned with knight or eater.

Was Crypsis really that much of a Lotus Field answer with 5 to install and further 5 to break? Faust will probably be the best way around so I’m waiting for The Underway (and luckily Blue Sun is not very popular in my meta). Also, if someone plays just one Lotus, chances are they won’t draw it early enough, and if they play more, it might be killed with Immolation Script. When I have Faust, if Lotus will get eally popular, I’ll probably add a Spooned. Right now I don’t see enough of it to worry that much (probably due to Eyes + Yog pushing it out of the meta a bit).

This was the deck I took to the UK Nationals (might have been 2 Inject and 1 Hacktivist). I think it dropped a single game all day only. I had taken the Crypsis out of my deck as I don’t think I played it once in a few tournaments before Nationals. Knights worked wonders against Lotus Field since most corps didn’t rush to remove a 5 cost piece of ice when I was Imping and milling ice and econ, wouldn’t bother playing it against Blue Sun unless it was an emergency.

Between Knight, D4v1d and Parasite dont think there was any ice I saw all day the caused much issue. Itching to try out Faust and Immolation Script(also Trope for other reasons) as well to see if they can put more pressure on the corp.

7 breakers, interesting. I also wonder if Faust will allow Noise decks to get this down to 5, something like 2 Faust, 2 D4v1d, 1 Mimic, or some variation.

It’s hard to process these lists when we’re so close to Street Peddler’s release. Wonder how that card will change the optimal packages in Noise especially, but Val and Whizzard too.

The interesting thing about Street Peddler is that Noise is already getting close to the point where you use up your entire stack in a grindy glacier matchup. When I ran Paige I would regularly win games against RP with 2-8 cards in stack.

Every time you use a Street Peddler you’re consuming the SP and 3 cards out of stack. So now you need to win faster against glacier, or trim other cards that burn your stack like Inject (which are the same cards giving you consistency), or run cards that will give you reach beyond the end of your stack (like Kati over Casts, for example), or play Levy (which is an unnecessary waste of influence the majority of the time).

IMO it’s an automatic 3-of in Val or Whizzard, but two could be enough in Noise to hit the sweet spot of stack usage.

Crypsis was always far too expensive for me to like playing. Second D4v1d is the answer for Blue Sun and RP heavy metas. Knight can be Clone Chip’d in a pinch and as stated, people are in no rush trash a Lotus Field.

I understand wanting to move away from pancakes but it is so easy to setup with injects and having access to that many tools at all times is so huge. Playing through the majority of your deck is what wins games as Noise. You see your tools faster than they see theirs and in the process you mill a good chunk.

I don’t think anyone is concerned with knight as a lotus answer for anything but Blue Sun, which will gobble up your knight faster than you can recur it, while hindering recurring your other cards. Maybe just the metas I’ve played in, but this is a big deal.

Yes, quite possibly. Seems like RP and NEH are the thing around here, I only played against one Blue Sun at Regionals. I think two D4v1d’s is probably your best bet until Faust.

I’ve been using IHW/Inject as my draw, because I find the Pancakes combo slow enough that corps can rush out. NEH is not exactly dead.

But with Faust, I don’t think there’s a good argument against Wyldside. Faust is exactly what Noise wants: something that gets you in if you need to. Faust lets you threaten to run, and that’s enough for Noise. You can break Lotus Field for 2 cards. You can lock down those early remotes. Faust eats cards, so you certainly want Wyldside, and Wyldside’s set up problems are mitigated by Faust. It seems perfect to me.

So I’m certainly going to be trying 3 Wyldside, 3 Street Peddler as my draw. It’s not crazy to add Inject or I’ve Had Worse on top of that for extra draw, but it’s less needed.

Street Peddler seems better than Inject by a fairly large margin in Noise. I think it’s one of the best Anarch cards we’ve ever seen, so good Anarch decks are probably going to be those that can make use of it.

Id be interested to see that list in full if you have a sketch knocking about, i was thinking more of adding street peddler to my current inject/ihw draw package, rather than on top of wyldside.
