[Noise] Welcome (back) to the Church

I’ve been thinking back to Armitage with the street peddlers. Go Casts/Armitage instead of Gambles.

I think that’s definitely wrong. Clicks are precious to Noise. Armitage is way too click intensive

Hm. Install two things on it. Sell them. Sell it. That’s better net, though slower, with a much lower startup cost. It’s better than Cyberfeeder. Inject was a reason I stopped playing it. NRE (and so Power Shutdown) was another. Return on investment never was.

How crazy is it to include one or two Katis? I get that you’d rather be digging/installing as much as possible each turn, but I feel like she could fit into the common cyberfeeder slot (which I’ve never been a big fan of).

I certainly agree that Scheherazade is better than Cyberfeeder, but that isn’t much of an indictment. I can definitely see the upside of it having read people’s posts though, and I’m more of a believer now. I think I’ve been playing it wrong, since it’s almost certainly a lot better if you’re aggressive about selling it.

I think it’s important not to discount the fact that Scheherezade makes blundering into destroyers (a totally valid tactic for many noise lists much of the time) a terrible idea. It also becomes little more than an easy mark if you sniff power shutdown. It’s much worse than that if you’re blindsided by powdown. I dunno, it’s good when it works. I’m not sure that’s how I like my cards.

This is what I’ve been using lately - been doing pretty well with it, but still need to test it more extensively.
I cut the gambles and inject when I added the peddlers (Replaced them with cyberfeeders - which I don’t know how I feel about yet).

The problem I had with inject was that I never wanted to play it after I had wild pancakes going, whereas peddler is always good and lets me keep those 3 options open, effectively boosting my hand size until I pop it.

3rd cyberfeeder, 2nd d4v1d and 2nd Grimoire are the flex spots. Kinda waiting for Trope to test that out since I consistently go through my deck during slower matchups, and being able to shuffle back 5ish cards would be a huge deal.

Anyway -

Firstly, Agalloch rule, love the username.

Also, this is really similar to what iv been trying recently (list below), how are you finding the econ? I sometimes miss the burst of gambles, but the late game is still the noise late game and strong as hell. Im not sure just yet if peddler+pancakes gets me there quicker but it feels like it should.

That’s been my go to in Noise for awhile now.

Nice in a pinch, id never want to leave home without them but you have games where its rare you need them, or its cheaper to install them then rely on parasite. Faust as a 1x is the same - they are the backups to your main breaker, para-sucker.

What I meant more is “do you ever find them in time to stop rushing or do you just use them as endgame tool to cheapen the mass runs you’re making?”

Ah sorry i misunderstood your question. I’m not sure iv had a hard time finding them, maybe iv gotten lucky with my draws but the pancakes combo is pretty serious compared to the burst draw i used to favor (IHW/inject etc), i personally have found 1x is fine for the amount of time i need them, iv never had to dig for them, or they have already been in the heap for me to use. I think peddler will only increase this kind of consistency, placing things on peddler can drop them into the heap in time for you to tutor them out with a clone chip when you need them.

A nice thing happened like this with peddler, just to go on a tangent: dropping medium and a parasite onto peddler, cracking peddler in the corps turn to install parasite, my turn starts and it picks up a counter, i run RND blowing up the parasited ICE with 1 sucker token (engima i think) and using clone chip to grab the medium i dropped from peddler. Bliss.

Wait, since when did Scheherazade become better than Cyberfeeder?
One of these two things gives you money during runs, money to install nearly everything with, multiples aren’t a bad thing, and can’t be easily trashed. The other is a program that stayed in my binder since they screwed up Caissa. (Although the Exile-Pawn deck was hilarious.)

One costs 0. The other costs 2.

You need to use Cyberfeeder five times before it’s a reasonable econ card, and you can only use it once a turn

One of them doesn’t work with Parasite, the thing I’m installing most often.
It also requires me to actually have money before I can install Cache, so I can’t go to 0 as readily.
I also don’t lose my entire rig if they have Power Shutdown or I’ve pulled a dumb and facechecked a Destroyer.

Lots of risk, and you’re telling me the reward is 2cr?

Sorry I’m being a bit belligerent, but… I’ve had so much success for so long with Cyberfeeder that I’m having trouble believing Cher (that’s my new name for it. Because spelling.) could be better…

I’m a proponent of not playing either of them, but if we’re talking economy cards 2 credits is a big deal. Paying 2 credits for 1 recurring credit is just not a great deal at this point in the game. See: all the non Kate decks that tried to play Prepaid economy and realised that it was bad.

I don’t like either very much. I prefer daily casts and sure gamble. I don’t think going to 0 is a very good idea in netrunner (obviously you end up there occasionally but you try to avoid it), so that doesn’t factor into my decisions much. Cyberfeeder is alright, but there are better options is basically my point. It’s the same reason you rarely see prepaid outside of Kate. The ROI is too slow.

All of these cards are fine if you find Aesop on time. They’re pretty terrible when you don’t. I think you need 6-7 cards to help you out when all 3 pawnshops are somewhere in the last 20 cards. Or to get lucky and only have that happen when your opponent has a similarly poor draw.

For what its worth cyberfeeders are ok so far in street peddler noise, but you do end up trashing them off peddler or to faust more than other cards. I think i prefer it. What would go in its place if it got cut though? Not sure about Cher (its good name for it) but im also not immune to being wrong.
