You can think of Duggar’s like a “buy 5, get one free” Mr. Li, where the catch is you have to buy all 5 on the same turn (giving a timewalk to the corp).
Duggar’s is likely clearly better than Li if your deck has methods to fish stuff out of the trash.
I think Duggar’s was printed to reduce variance in Anarch. It definitely does that, but it’s still not as precise as the tutoring available to Shapers and Criminals, nor as efficient. That said, I have been playing with it and 2 Public Sympathy in my Quetzal build, and having fun with it. I couldn’t say yet whether Duggar’s is the best choice, Public Sympathy notwithstanding.
I tend to agree but my issue with it is that it is just too slow. Installing Duggar’s is inviting the corp to IAA on their turn and it’s completely useless at finding an answer to a corp play (e.g. IAA) on the turn that you need it - fringe cases like Josh B and Stim Dealer aside.
a). You don’t play it during an already existing window that you have no means to close.
b). You have no means to threaten a run on an extra click
c). If you don’t play it on a turn that the corp is not in a position to score.
So sure, duggars can open windows if played ineptly.
Just as frequently duggars can close windows, for example if you need a killer to run.
Hi all!
I’m working on a Noise build , but I’m not very comfortable to play Wyldside/Aesop so I’ve chosen a different path: Professional Contacts. In a single card I’ve both the card draw power to find my viruses and the economy to play them (since they’re quite cheap).
I’ve played some games to test the deck and it works fine:
Identity:
1x Noise: Hacker Extraordinaire (Core)
Event: (9)
3x Deja Vu (Core)
1x Hostage (Opening Moves) ■■
1x Scrubbed (The Spaces Between)
1x Stimhack (Core)
3x Dirty Laundry (Creation and Control)
Resource: (6)
3x Professional Contacts (Creation and Control) ■■ ■■ ■■
1x Kati Jones (Humanity’s Shadow)
1x Aesop’s Pawnshop (Core) ■■
1x Hades Shard (First Contact) ■
I think PC works very well here, Aesop is still strong but not essential in the first part of the game as it seems to me when I play Wyldside; I can play it with no hurry when I draw/tutor it.
Hostage could find PC, Aesop and Kati but I usually don’t need Kati… maybe I should cut it to add another stimhack that is often the MVP of the game!
What do you think about Professional Contacts? I saw a lot of Noise lists but none off them play PC… and what about the breaker suites?
I was doing something similar for a while. I’m not sure if you want a full set of breakers, you don’t run all that often. Crypsis and cash is enough to pressure. I’d run 1 ProCo and 3x Hostage, just for flexibility. Same chance of drawing ProCo early. D4V1D is super useful. Maybe find room for some SoTs? Recurring viruses is key.
I get that procon is important to your strategy, but that is a lot of inf dedicated to it. I would cut to 2 procon and 1-2 hostage, and slip in legwork or something…
If anything, cut 2 ProCo and replace with 1 Hostage and 1 Legwork. You should still be able to find ProCo quickly with 1 and 2 Hostage, and then you can also Hostage Kati or Pawnshop.
thanks for the feedback guys!
I put 3 PC in the first draft of the deck because it’s the basic strategy and the first Connection I need; playing it with Hostage means 1 credit and 1 click more to play.
However, now that I made a few tests with positive results, I can tune the deck trying to find the correct balance between PC, Aesop and Hostage… I will try the options you suggested! 1x Legwork seems a good idea Clone Chip is another good options

You’re probably right, it seems that I don’t need to run that often and playing Parasite+Suckers I could try to change my breaker suite saving slots… In my tests Crypsis+D4v1d would have been enough, but I haven’t test the deck against glacier corps yet.
There are several good variants I could try, I love this archetype!
Seeing so many Noise decks playing Wyldside/Aesop, I’m wondering if this is a matter of personal style preferences or if I can’t see the reason why this strategy should be better than PC…
Noise specifically benefits from installing cards (if you don’t do it enough, you’d be better off being Whiz or Q). To do that, you need to draw a lot (hence, Wyldside). Most of the cards you want to be installing are short-term and/or transient in nature (Lamprey, Imp, Cache). This means that some time after hitting the table, they’re dead weight. With Aesop, you can turn them into more money instead of having to just straight up trash all that stuff.
I basically use the same strategy, but in my mind Professional Contacts replaces Wyldside+Sahasrara in a single card: clicking 2 times you draw 2 cards and gain 2 credits to play the cheap viruses just drawn. I still play Aesop (very strong with all your short-term programs!), but I feel more comfortable if I can’t find it in the early game.
I played Wyldside in my previous Noise deck, but its ability often limits my options. Playing PC I’m free to draw 4/gain 4 or use my clicks for other actions
Interesting idea, but the math doesn’t work the same way. With Pro Co you spend 2 clicks for 2 cards and 2 bucks, and then you need to install a (virus) card on your 3rd click. With Wyldside and Sahasrara you spend one click for 2 cards and then use the 2 bucks on Sahasrara on your 2nd click when you install a program. So, Wyldside and Sahasrara is one click more efficient than ProCo.
EDIT: and if you want to see how valuable an entire click is worth, just look at Rachel Beckman or Joshua B.
You’re right, but on the other hand PC is more flexible because it saves you slots, you can choose when and how you want to draw, you can gain more credits and you can spend them as you want. When I have 2 Cyberfeeders in play, I can pile up PC credits for the future or use them in traces or to play events and resources.
I think both cards are very good in Noise and it seems to me that the choice depends more on your playstyle rather than in the raw power of the cards… I’m not surprised to see Wyldside in deck lists, what surprise me is that almost every tournament winner deck use Wyldside and noone seems to play PC :-/
Influence. Let’s say they are both equally effective (both have some drawbacks and advantages), but one does not cost influence. Also, it’s a bit cheaper to start with, and hurts less when you loose it to a tag.
That is why you have 3 aesops. I mostly try to keep one in hand when I’m playing versus a copr that I know has tagging potential. Scoring breaking news spending two credits to trash easop and then you can just play a new one.
However if you have wyldside out, no aesop and credits will make you feel like a fish out of water.
I have a deck that is very similar to Guardian’s that I was toying with. I haven’t played this incarnation of it yet, but I wanted to get some feedback on it. Specifically, I have 2 extra influence and no idea what to spend it on. I could easily drop the second ProCon for…what? Legwork has already been suggested, but what else besides legwork would be a good 2 influence add?
Also, the Mimic (which is purely for Swordsman) will get dropped immediately for Cujo as soon as it comes out because it’s more versatile.

Wyldside itself doesn’t cost influence, but it needs support cards that cost you influence.
I play PC and hostage, but I don’t use Sahasrara and 3x Aesop (I use 1 copy): the total influence used for draw and economy is pretty much the same
