OFFICIAL Stimhack OCTGN League PART II

Without sucker and parasite it seems like noise would be just as janky, having to make a real rig instead of leaning on crypsis.

My guess is HB glacier, tennin FA (with… sansan maybe??), and big rig shaper with opus would be the best decks.

Kit Vamp would crush in that format, except the obvious powerhouse of Daily Business Show/SanSan RP fast advance. Actually not joking.

3 knights in parasites slots and lampreys /stimhack instead of datasuckers. I bet that without astro and biotic nobody can race his mill power.

Deck built on NetrunnerDB.

We looked into this, but this was not possible at this time.

Regarding top 4, in addition to what Dan said, we noticed that Top 8 last time around involved almost 8 timezones, making matchmaking though. Preping for Worlds was a factor too, but overall we saw it took too much time

I would add a pair of clone retirements to get last point. And would try to fit in some architects.

And here is my noise:

We can play test it in 9 hours if you want:)

I’m running something similar out of PE right now… and it’s surprisingly effective. Not the easiest of decks to play by any stretch of the imagination, though - so far, all my losses have been due to what turned out to be blatant misplays.

Joined and good luck to all. When I’m playing, I’ll have mumble open and hope some of you will do the same

Since I learned OCTGN prior to Worlds, I can finally participate, too. \o/

I wonder if SHL2 will be enough to deter non-leaguers… I’ll probably use “SHL2 - Stimhack League Game” or something like that for a title

Dan,

I like your improvement on the thread, but I would like to make a few suggestions or refinements.

First: are we really going to do this for the Stimhack league? I’d like that.

Second: I think you have gone a bit far in the card removal. Here are my modifications to your suggestions, with reasons:

Ban:
Parasite
Desperado
Account Siphon
Lucky Find

Jackson Howard
Biotic Labor
Caprice

Place the following additional restrictions
Increase the Influence cost of Data Sucker to 4
Increase the Influence cost of Corroder to 3 (Banning corroder outright puts anarch in a tough place).
Increase the INF to SEA-Source to 4
Increase the INF cost of Biotic Labor to 4
Increase the INF cost of ELP to 4
A player may only have 1 Astroscript or 1 San Grid.
A player may only have 1 Sundew.
Increase the rez cost of Pad Campaign to 3.

Edit: Oh. In the interest of faction parity, my original list had no banned green cards. Since the idea is to foster innovative decks, Ban Magnum Opus.

Shaper was a bit tough to think about. SMC is probably more heavily (ab)used. But I think that the inf is about right at 3, and that with MO and lucky find out, the economy the fund SMC tutors will lessen the problem.

This is my absolutly favourite.

No, we’re not really going to do this for the official league. A jank league would be a separate league.

What I want to see is Highlander league with no bans, but only 1x of each card allowed.

Then we can gripe about how overpowered The Professor is.

I was just joking about jank league. You guys are taking it way too seriously. Honestly, it might be fun for a second, but I have a feeling that it would create severely unbalanced formats and would take multiple iterations of bannings to make it work well. What might be a cool idea is to make a league with an iterative banning system, (more and more cards get banned every week or something). Unfortunately, this would involve a lot of deckbuilding work and finding opponents could get really hard. Also, we’re running this actual league, and I don’t want to spread ourselves too thin.

Something that would interest me, however, is a cube draft league/thing. Or just running cube drafts online to be played in OCTGN. The cube needs updating from the latest cycle, and we also need a good way to do a full 8-player draft in cyberspace, (right now, there isn’t a good way to do it built into any program). I asked @chrism6794 about making a feature in meteor that would allow us to sets of draft packs, (maybe something like 8 folders with 3 text documents containing the names of 10 cards each so that the packs could be opened by individuals and passed around on Skype or something), and I’ll keep trying to figure out a way to make it work in the meantime.

Let’s just put the idea of jank league on the back burner for now, though.

We discussed SHL2 with @db0 so please use that and do not make your own variation. We wanna make it as simple as possible. If random scrubs join, just ask of they are in or not. Let’s make this work

I would absolutely love a draft (of any kind) on OCTGN. I’ve spent the last 20 minutes thinking of how to make it work and all of my answers are super complicated. We would need to have a devoted electronic medium or it’s going to be too clunky.

Don’t look at me, I don’t know shit about computers.

Thanks for running this. The advantage of the league was chiefly, for me at least, finding quality opponents instead of the usual Stronger Together+Salvage decks you sometimes see. I’m glad the league is returning.
