What I’d like to know is who wont the Imperial Outpost tourney? The one the Corpdraw folks kindly did. I had to stop watching midway through the loser-bracket finals and never did see the outcome.

Without spoiling who won, just in case you want to find out yourself… you can catch up and watch the videos you missed here:

Edit - Except that the last video cuts out before the end, doh!

Spoilers

Rachel came all the way through the lower bracket and won the tournament. First time I’ve gotten to watch someone come back and win from the lower bracket. Haven’t seen any deck lists yet though.

End Spoilers

Yeah, I had watched it…and yeah cut off. doh! Thought she had it, but Roberto had a scorch + a billion bucks, so it could have ended his way in that ‘cut off’ time. Good on her!

By Watching the Video Rachel was playing a Jinteki RP full Grails with at least 1 ELP so with 9 Grails + 3 Jackson + ELP that’s 1 influence remaining probably DBS but not sure. Her Andy was pretty standard
And the other finalist was playing a Jinteki PE with 2x Scorch and a Whizzard with Earth Rise and Desperado.

Congratulations on your victory! Your build of Andy seems very interesting.

Against which corporations did you face during the tournament? Did your inclusion of AI breakers prove effective? What motivated you to include them over the more commonly seen breakers?

How did you approach the use of Hostage and your resources? Your deck seems potentially very click intensive. Did you ever discover yourself falling behind or in a position where it proved difficult to balance pressure and economy?

In the tournamnet, I faced

  • TWIW (finished 6th)
  • GRNDL (9th)
  • NEH (4th)
  • Blue Sun (2nd)

I dropping the blue sun match due to scorch (didn’t have meat damage protection and was faced with the SEA vs. Posted Bounty Dilemma)…

It was the posted bounty, I scored it, and then got blown up.

I’ve been running “Hostage” Andy for a while… generally speaking I will hostage zero or one times per game, for professional contacts in most matchups except near earth hub. I won’t play it late, but if I suspect the game is going to go even average length - I’ll play it.

I’ll play Kati if I draw her naturally in most matchups, and occasionally I’ll hostage for John M. if I know I can get value out of him (Security Testing vs. NEH for example)

Ideally, it plays like normal Andy - Anarch rig + 2 data suckers. Security testing + Desperado provides the core econ, and the runs are cheap.

Of course, sometimes that doesn’t work because people are playing lotus field, or they power shutdown your corroder, or you run into a neural katana in NBN or something goofy, so I like having a backup. I used to play 2 corroders, but decided to convert it into a knight to deal with Lotus field. Crypsis is occasionally a rockstar, and occasionally just goes straight into heap via ProCon overdraw.

Turn 2 Special Order -> Knight -> Move -> Siphon is usually unexpected (obviously in this case I hopefully have no resources)

The same old things are generally Account Siphons because… siphons are good, but are also frequently inside jobs, legworks, or special orders. Just having SoT on the board with Inside job in your archives will frequently cause agendas to pile up in hand.

In the build I took to NYC (finished 4th / 35, going 3-2) I dropped the HQ interfaces for Legwork, the Crash Space and the Daily Casts for 1 Infiltration and 1 Plascrete. Still got blown up, and dropped 1 match to hub.

In current meta, its far from amazing because Blue Sun makes things too expensive, and Near Earth Hub is too fast. Like most criminals, I win a non trivial # games with only a desperado installed. I had severe anxiety regarding what to run, and I’m most comfortable with this. 9 cards in your starting hand is good!

Congrats! So how did Leela do for you? She keeps intriguing me.

@Argamas
She did great, 4 time vs NEH and won all of them. I think she can be pretty good vs NEH, PE and fast scoring agenda corps but vs Glacier decks her abilty is usually worth nothing and she gets quite idle.
For this tournment she worked pretty good I must say

Congrats! I’m curious, what made you choose for Philotic in stead of a thirth TFP? The damage? Easier to score?

Beal and Yoda are two different persons.

Beal is France’s champion 2013, Yoda is vice champion of everything here :stuck_out_tongue:

It seems to be very logic in this meta :
49 cards / 7x ./2 + 2x ./3 are a very common agenda distribution in Paris’ meta but some corpo decks are 54 cards / 8x ./2 + 2x ./3.

Philotic is also seen as auto-include in 90% of Jinteki decks here.

I’m pretty sure this isn’t the answer he was looking for. When someone asks “why ?” he’s rarely satisfied by “because it’s the way we do it”.

Around here, nobody ever bothers to run an unadvanced RP remote. So I can see Philotic being used as a blank 3/2 and being scored uncontested (looks like Ash, Caprice, Sundew, Jackson, etc).

Normally, the third TFP gives you a better chance to score 2pts + 2pts + 3pts and win in three agendas instead of 4. Because it protects itself, your opponent often still has to go 2pts x 4.

But with 3 copies of Daily Business Show, you can probably find one of the 2 TFP often enough and playing 2 TFP makes it even harder for your opponent to go 2+2+3.

Sure, but it has an agenda that isn’t game-winner Nisei or agenda that protects itself.
