I sense a new avatar for you on this forum…
Seeing all those trash cost cards in one place is really helping me figure out how to build Geist, thanks!
pardon me being dense, but why doesn’t it work? Geist refers to “trash ability” and Monolith clrealy has an ability that requires you to trash a card as a cost. Where does Geist say he only works with trash icons?
I like the idea of Siphoning, removing tags mid-run with Forger and Decoy perhaps, meanwhile drawing 2 cards in the process and hopefully gaining $10. Perhaps idealistic but certainly doable.
Geist clearly displays the trash icon, so only that will work. The difference with monolith is that monolith requires another card to be trashed (while the trash icon means the card itself must be trashed). The difference with faerie is that it’s an effect that occurs after using it, rather than a cost. Or at least, that’s my understanding.
Erm… on the card? You know, the bit where it actually has a picture of the icon, and doesn’t have the words ‘trash ability’ anywhere? Which is good considering that’s not even a term that’s defined anywhere.
lol immediately forgot about the actual card pic after seeing it
Seems like the best-case scenario, but then let’s look at what we’ve accomplished: we’ve paid 2c and two clicks to install two cards (Forger and Decoy) that we’ve just cycled. We’re up 2c and have cycled two middling cards, but have lost the link from forger—which given the B&E suite might be super-important; that just doesn’t seem powerful to me.
Well, you can use them during the run so you don’t actually spend money to get in. Now you drew about 4 cards. You are ten credits richer the corp lost 5 credits and you have 3 clicks left. I think with siphon, crescentus, muertos gang member he could have a really solid econ denial package.
And the fact that he has a draw built into him is the best part about him. Everyone in the criminal thread ia complaining about draw. Well, now we have a criminal ID with built-in draw. That’s got to be at least worth trying out.
It can also be decent at getting rid of useless late game ice (quandary, enigma after yog, etc.) And get back hedges or gifts or whatever. The fact that it can potentially bait a run is nice, too. I agree that it’s full effect isn’t amazing in RP, and 3 inf is really high to use elsewhere, so maybe it won’t see much if any play, but I know I want to test it out in one shape or another.
What does the B&E breaker suite look like? I’m thinking 1 Corroder 1 Zu, some Faeries and then all 9 B&Es?
Maybe 2 Clone Chips and 1 SMC.
We’re at 11 influence.
Fill it out with money and tricks?
I’m going to give Forger a shot, so we’ll have Underworld Contacts. You’ve then pretty resistant to meat death, with 2 link and a built-in tag remover (also draws you cards to pad your hand). You can use Fall Guys to further protect yourself, allowing you clickless money and cards. So he’s good at not dying.
Just need to figure out how to put on significant pressure while you are simultaneously trying to build up the rig.
I’m not sure all 9 is the right call. As we found with cutlery, I think some of the B&E suite just isn’t going to be too strong. I’d say something like 3x Faerie, Corroder, Passport and 3x each of the code gate and barrier B&E ones. Or maybe 3x code gate and 2x barrier
I was thinking central breakers + B&E. Off campus apartament for insane draw. Street peddler cause that card is very good without a +1 draw. With a plus 1 draw its awesome. Muertos gang member. Underworld contacts. Fall guy. Decoy. They would all trigger a draw cause they are happy to be in your apartment. And another draw when they are spent. Callin in favours cause they are heap connections and they owe you one for lending the apartment. R&D interfaces for R&D pressure and Levy to do it all over again.
The sentry breaker can likely sit on the board, MU free, install for free, and just buff your code gate and barrier breakers. You might be right, going to have to see.
I think without like Autoscripter you might be spending too many set up clicks. Perhaps Au Revoir.
Not sure if you’re kidding about this part, but Levy just to recurr a bunch of cards that are mainly involved in the deck because they protect each other or draw you more cards doesn’t seem very ideal.
Yeah, I havent tested it. So im not sure how much draw he’ll end up having and if the Levy is indeed usefull. But those cards give you econ, break ice, siphon the corp, derez their cards. So they are there for a reason that is not just drawing. Not sure if its necessary to do it all twice. But if he can draw as fast as I hope, it will be usefull.
Edit: We should open a Gheist thread. I haven’t been this excited for an ID in a while.
I support this notion
Also make sure to spell it Geist!
I think that’s not really enough benefit to make it worth having, especially if you’re playing with Geist. In my criminal decks, cards REALLY need to be pulling some weight in order not to get cut for money. My thinking with B&E is that you use them for early criminal pressure breaks to land siphon or legwork if it looks juicy or bust a remote rush. Otherwise let them pile up for the late game to keep a given server from being able to tax you out on a crucial turn. In this way, each B&E might not be valuable since you don’t break each type of ice equally often and certainly not equally often over various phases of the game since they have different cost curves.
I’m leaning toward Levvy as well, although I suspect its may be a trap. If you go all in on good trash abilities (12 breakers, 3 clone chips, crescentus, same old thing) I think you’ll find that you’ll burn through the deck pretty darn quickly - on the same speed possibly as the chaos theory double double deck?
My questions on this ID:
- Does this make crash space the best scorch protection for this ID? Maybe Decoy for similar support. Or is just having resources you can choose to trash (fall guy/Street Peddler) good enough.
- Are cards like Cortez chip worth including just for the “cantrip”
- If it had worked on any trash would that have made Sacrificial Clone playable?
