Mmmmm…
What about a Power Shutdown combo, then ?
Worth noting that I think you do need to still install some R&D pressure against Haarpsichord. Might be awkward, but you still want to steal agendas every run. You don’t want to install too much, because seeing the second agenda might hurt you, but R&D locking still seems kinda valuable, unless Gutenberg really is able to make that as painful as I might hope. Even then, until they have multiples – which’d get expensive right quick if you want anything else there too – it’s not hugely painful to run through.
But then again, if you’re running Scorched I could see going 2-of or 3-of on Gutenberg just to make R&D a fucking bear to get through.
It would certainly stop Hades Shard from ruining it, but I don’t know that it would be that much better than a PS combo in any other deck, since you’re usually aiming to win the game on your turn, not giving them a chance to run archives. That said, Hades Shard is definitely a hard counter to a PS deck, so running Haarpsichord might be worth it if you wanted to do PS NBN? I still think Midseason bait is gonna be the most fun way to play agendas in archives with this ID.
AOYCR is basically an operation that says if you’re winning on one central you score an agenda point for 4 creds and 1 click. Seems pretty good, though probably not as good as you think right off the bat. It’s certainly a fun idea, but I can see myself saying ‘no thanks’ quite often to that offer as runner - 1 AP isn’t usually that big a deal. It’s a non-agenda, non-ICE, non-econ (and it’s expensive). It probably just enters the jank tank. (Where it makes a fine addition that I’m pleased exists.)
The basic problem is that it’s a big nombo with any etr ice. They can make the run, and then just not break the subroutine.
In a faction with a 2/1 agenda as well.
Having said that, Fan Site suggests they are exploring the whole agendas that aren’t agendas mechanic. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets more useful as time goes on.
right, you probably wouldn’t play it and target a server that just had a Wall of Static on it :).
I doubt leela wil impact haarp that much outside of making adjustments to the deck. The shell game that is illustrated may be something that can be done but I doubt it happens when you play her. More likely you preempt or follow an installed agenda with an upgrade, reducing leela’s chance of hitting the right card if she hits one from RnD or a legwork. if that upgrade is a sansan, there really isn’t a right card to hit.
more likely though if leela is a problem people will shift their FA technique to ToL. That way even if you can’t move those advancement tokens to an agenda you can move them to a piece of ICE to ToL off of.
The explody agenda might make NEH biotic stuff more obscene if this clot stuff doesn’t play out. NAPD is cute and all but I’d rather have the 5 creds to turn on my other biotic or sansan on the table.
My favorite new ID combo so far is Kitsune protecting the agenda you actually want to score, and forcing them to steal a 1-pointer from your hand.
I think it’d be wrong to be playing 2 agendas out and scoring one the next turn in most match ups. What this is, imo, is protection against the legwork or giant medium dig that just ends your game, forcing the game to go a few more turns where you can hopefully recover.
Didn’t you get the memo? NBN doesn’t recover, NBN stays ahead ![]()
I’m not trying to say the card is good or bad. That is simply the actual spoiler from /tg/
Sure, but to be serious for a moment, the decks that tend to really hit NBN hard at the moment run a lot of multi-access and rely on being able to steal everything they see, sometimes in clumps. If you have to wait a turn to steal anything that’s going to be a huge issue. Now, Imp still comes into play if you have that while you’re legworking or digging with medium; but this NBN ident says “you can’t go faster than me”.
Most of my losses playing NEH were to a timely legwork while I waited for FA/Jackson.
This is further backed up by how people were starting to play Medium as their RnD pressure against NEH because of its speed at building up the RnD lock. Medium is less appealing against Haarpsichord because you don’t actually lock RnD or steal a ton in a go.
I would wager that depends on your ID. It’s still pretty valuable if you’re the whizz or Kim.
After having great fun playing Leela against Tennin, NEH and Titan ToL decks at a store champ this weekend, I have to contradict you here. If you do what you’re suggesting, Leela can just bounce the ICE with the advancements, wasting your effort. With so much Wormhole around at the moment I’ve quickly found that this can be one of Leela’s strongest plays.
Yep. I love watching them advance up a cosmic ice figuring they’re set, then lose their investment to an agenda score on another server.
why is the ICE unrezzed? It could just as well be some ice wall you tossed up early over RnD or HQ that you don’t install over because you’re saving it for just such an occasion. If I was using one of the constellation ICE why would I be so hard-headed that I wouldn’t rez it for the extra cost vs. a makers eye or legwork for just such a happenstance.
Ice Wall is the only one I think would work in the deck (Fire Wall too expensive, Shadow too weird and the cosmic ICE you’re not going to rez before advancing it, giving the game away to Leela), and putting 3 Ice Wall in just to have a fallback for this interaction seems like a weird move, especially given that you might not even have any installed when the interaction happens and it’s wasted influence in the deck otherwise for a card that could easily have been Wraparound.
I don’t think it would be weird in a deck with ToL as a part of the FA plan. It’s all about layering your cards so that you’re able to execute your plan as swiftly as possible.
I get where you’re coming from though.
