[Updated] I for one welcome our new Whizzard Overlord

The problem I have with Visage is that it doesn’t work that great with Kati.

I’m confused on the Enormous Baby over Inject. Does anyone play against NEH? Seems like a serious matchup problem.

Also flabbergasted at not insta-including 2 D4v1ds. Blue Sun is a big deal, and so is Wrap Around and Turing.

And Gutenberg, and Crick, and Tollbooth, and…

I faced blue sun twice, losing both matches that would have been more competitive if I had d4vid. My final match was against an ITD blue sun. Both of my D4vids were in the bottom 10-15 cards in my deck -> timed loss. The earlier one was a 6 agenda punitive deck… weyland opus behind Orion made econ contention impossible… and then discovered Weyland’s plot to takeover the goverment while poking around in their R&D…

Things I used D4vid tokens on during the day.

Wraparound
Crick
Gutenberg
Tollbooth
Little Engine (!)
Curtain Wall

Things I wished I had D4vid for:
Orion.

My kryptonite turned out to be Grail NEH, rather than BS. Dude wasn’t even running Wraparounds

Looks like those slots are solidly in the “meta call” category.

Grail NEH is a nightmare for these semi-slow reg Anarch decks. May practically be a matchup you just concede unless you can fit 2 SMC or something. Street peddler may also help a bit.

That’s another reason I went for the Eater route with my build, you’re immune to a whole range of shenanigens – Grail, Excalibur, Data Raven/UCF.

This surprises me. Having access to instant speed parasite helps a lot. I used to play a ton of Grail NEH before they took it out back and shot it clot it. Instant speed parasites + medium were that deck’s Achilles Heel. Inject helps a lot setting that up.

Is Blacklist really that bad for this deck? I feel like face checking before you start setting up programs lets you find the ICE you want to parasite in case they do attempt the soft lock.

If you’re holding those breakers in hand face checking grail is probably a mistake.

Yeah, Grail NEH Grail beats you in the early game, before you have access to insta parasites. They often can rush the first astro behind an unrezzed piece of ice while your rig is still in its infancy. Game usually ends with desperation medium runs while they’re at game point.

Well, Wooley’s work is done here. Mission accomplished (and not in the G.W. Bush style).

He’s propagating a style that involves getting in and wrecking up the joint.

Seems like Bush to me.

Yeah, I think this is the way I’ve been playing the baby, and it’s actually the reason I took it out. if you just pretend you have the baby and draw a bit more, you get most of the benefit (I generally found that this deck was insanely rich in most cases, and in situations when it wasn’t the 1 from baby didn’t help enough.)

played against a ton of NEH so far (they’re still all the rage around her afaik) and never ever felt like I needed more draw against them. NEH games are often a race for me to find my breakers - once I do it’s open season on all servers. earthrise (with career fair!) and IHW are unbeleivable in this role. As I said above, the baby helps a little if you ended up really digging a lot, but ultimately the money comes easily enough that I don’t even know if it’s worth the tempo bump to install. Inject would be garbage, it’s inferior to all other draw options here.

i am so proud that i was able to help make this Smiths reference happen at the top of NRDB’s page for the most popular Anarch decks:

I found my one D4v1d to be adequate on the day (I was the Noise in Top 8). My matchups might have been more favorable though only playing two RP and one Blue Sun.

I’ve been running two SMCs, and my limited contact with grail has been fine. Peddler might help - and sometimes she might not.

Cutting Clone Chips hurts, but SMC leads to the deck being capable of much more early aggression. This speeds up sucker accumulation, and ultimately leads to a death by Para sucker for the grail stuff.

From the MaxX thread on the merits of Whizzard and Val vs. Butcher Shop, I’m sure Val with Desperado is better than Whizzard vs. Butcher, but Val starts the game with 50 cards and no Desperado in play.

It is nice to deny the inevitable early Astro rush vs. Anarch with Blackmail. That is definitely an advantage. About every game I play as Whizzard vs. NEH by skilled opponents consists of an early Astro Rush attempt. I either concede it or go broke early denying it.

Potentially crazy idea (starting with L4J):

  1. Swap out the daily casts for dirty laundries
  2. Drop career fairs for a special order and a stimhack.

You lose some economic efficiency, but you get a bit faster and more consistent. Thoughts?

Probably not a good idea, for multiple reasons. Career Fair is what makes the Lib Accounts good at all. Otherwise they’re just a high variance econ card.

I also feel this deck wants SMC way more than it wants Special Order. You have a lot of non-icebreaker pieces you want to get. D1V4D versus Blue Sun, Parasite/Sucker, versus everyone else, Medium when there’s an opening, etc.

Stimhack makes you much easier to flatline, and necessitates running Plascretes to not die to 2x Scorch. The core set Anarch suite doesn’t really have a lot of places to spend a ton of money during runs, so it’s not that great outside of SMC/Clone Chip abuse.

Could you not just slot the clot? Its not as great as in shaper, but its in faction and you have all 3 clone chip.
