[Updated] I for one welcome our new Whizzard Overlord

You would need to like slot the triple clot. And 3 wasted deckslots can very well turn a good deck into a not so good one.

Totally agree, both of these changes would be not at all great.

One thing you didn’t mention is how much worse dirty laundry is compared to career fair’d daily casts. without ppvp, DL is at best as good as career fair (3 creds for no clicks) but often as bad as easy mark, with the side un-benefit of enabling early sea sources.

@crossbrainedfool and @voltorocks, fair enough. I think I tend to over-value dirty laundry whenever I deck build for runners.

I’m not sure, even 1 clot will show up at some point in most games, and with NEH its stopping the final score with clot that is great, you just need to buy some time before you can medium them to death. Also you could switch up the atman to an SMC.

I agree 3 clot is crazy overkill and will ruin the deck, but the NEH matchup does seem really week to me on the Detroit winning list.

Has anyone tried adding more ICE destruction cards?

It depends what the rest of your deck looks like: if you’re running some number of SMCs over Atman and/or have Inject, running a single copy to occasionally mise out NEH seems just fine.

I’ve tried a clot since I swapped Atman for SMC and it’s… ok. even one copy does decent work in NEH games, but honestly a lot of the time I find myself not needing it.

The aggressive draw package means I can usually find 2 or 3 breakers by the time they’re ready to NA an astro, and the SMC is much better used for breakers to grab that agenda than for stalling it out w/ the clot. SanSan is a tough play vs. whizz, so that pretty much just leaves Biotic labor for clot to handle, which it does very well. once the medium dig/ parasite train starts rolling, it’s pretty much game over for NEH.

The hard fact is that yes, you can lose to the NBN ā€œI winā€ button (i.e.: if they just get the right draws in the right order) very early on, but other than that it generally feels like a pretty strong matchup as-is.

Here’s my take on L4J. I even called it Overlord, per this thread. The changes from L4J are…
-1 NRE, -1 Datasucker, -2 D4v1d
+1 Career Fair, +1 Ice Carver, +1 Progenitor, +1 Crescentus

At this point in time, the big thing in my point of view is that Lotus Field is the only reason you need NRE. Ice Carver has the added bonus of helping out all of your breakers, not just the selected one on that particular run. Not to mention you save yourself some meat damage. D4v1d got the boot due to Ice Carver existing in the deck, but it may still be useful. I added the Progenitor for NRE defense and to alleviate some occasional memory issues. With one extra Influence I decided to tack on a Crescentus.

I’m trying a 2x Spooned, 1x Knifed, 1x Forked variant (with my Eater/Vamp build). Unfortunately I ditched the Datasuckers and the 2x Earthrise Hotel, so it could be a disaster. I’ll report if and when I test it.

I’m surprised at the lack of D4v1d, as others have noted it’s a great addition right now. I would list it along with Parasite as one of the main reasons to play Anarch.

Especially if you play, or expect to play, a lot of Blue Sun. Game-changing card in that matchup.

You do realise ice carver doesn’t work against lotus field, right?

How are people liking the 1x Progenitor? It only has four targets (and DS is a rather mediocre one).

I very much know it doesn’t work against Lotus Field. That would be why I made sure to mention it in my original post. Maybe I didn’t expand on it enough. Except for LF, however, Ice Carver gets you the exact same result, but for all your breakers. Switching one NRE into IC gains you some influence to use elsewhere and, in the end, you will have a +2 advantage with some breaker if you can get both out. If you really want to be more consistent against LF, by all means keep the second NRE. Taking into account that there are so many other possible ICE to encounter that are not LF, imo IC is just as consistent and the better choice for that second slot. If you never see a Lotus Field all day, 1xIC + 1xNRE is functionally exactly the same as 2xNRE, but better.

In short, for me, the loss of consistency vs LF is an acceptable loss in order to be more efficient vs everything else.

@IirionClaus
I know D4v1d can be amazing vs Blue Sun, and especially Curtain Wall, so you could put that in there if you wanted in place of the Crescentus. PeekaySK noted that he didn’t miss D4v1d at all during his recent tourney, so it is possible to play without it. Of course, it won’t play well with IC.

Thanks @Spags and others for this great deck. I took it to second place in Eindhoven after Swiss and thirth overall. I was handicapted by Breaker Bay being the last legal pack. So went full anti Scorched: plas, 3 IHW, Utopia, since Butchershop was all around.

Utopia was great, I even Career Faired it  hard cast. It saved my ass once (finding double SE) and won me two games (run archives, pop it. Once for final 3 points and for 6 at once:slight_smile:ļø). The skeleton on the deck is great and allows for a lot of pressure and a lot of options. I had so much fun!

Popping it against me for that one agenda in hand and hitting it for the win, still hurts now

The problem with the matchup is rushed agendas, not fast-advanced ones. Clot will delay your loss for a bit, but not give you the victory.

Here’s the thing - D4V1d is less than stellar against multi-sub ICE if you’re not running E3 or Aesop. It’s awesome vs. Susan, Grim, Wormhole, Fire Wall and the like, but if you’re getting one pass of one piece out of it for 3 credits, a card, an install and a (temporarily) bound-up MU, it’s a significantly worse deal. Personally, I’m handing BS with the combination of ample Suckers (and MU to support them) and Atman set to a suitably high number (usually 6). It’s not the fastest of decks, so there’s some breathing room there, time-wise.

The one time I actually missed D4V1D in the last 2 months with my build was an ā€œIT Department + an unrezzed piece that I knew to be Goldā€ kind of situation, still managed to work around it though.

Whizz won at the FFG Game Center. No surprise, there were a lot of Whizz (I played 2 in six rounds). Surprising add in a lot of them: e3, JUST for D4v1D.

But was it a good splash, or just an interesting idea that put you in the lower tables?

At least one T8 Whizz had it.
