Valencia, the combo Anarch?

You can if they’re Tallie “piece of shit” Perrault

I honestly think that this is the most solid draft I’ve seen so far. Really like the idea of ignoring Eater and going with the good standard Anarch setup. Atman at 4 and D4v1d for ICE past that, if need be; looks great on paper.

Just one thing I’m not so sure about is using Investigative Jounalism just for the econ. If you get it early, it’s totally worth it, but the tempo hit is really something and getting it later into the game seems to be not beneficial at all. Worst case scenario is an Elizabeth Mills in Blue Sun to make this card useless. Not sure about that card right now, although it has Valencia written all over it. Can’t think of anything right now that I would change otherwise, great list imo =)

Tried to make Itinerant protesters and Hemmorage to work. Was using Desperado and Special Orders and 1 Zu as influence.

It’s cool but Its too many moving parts I think, maybe a better deck builder can take that and do something with it though.

If there’s something to cut, i think the journalism would probably the first one to disappear. Probably in favor of a third daily cast, a third déjà-vu and a plas (with Tallie Perrault being dropped as well for the second plas)
In case I want to keep the Journalism, I think 3 is probably too much and I would probably drop 1 for a 3rd Daily Cast and the 3rd Earthrise Hotel for the 3rd Déjà-Vu. Still need to playtest and tweak a bit, though.

The last version looks like that :

Shaping Valencia

Valencia Estevez: The Angel of Cayambe (Order and Chaos)

Event (19)

Hardware (5)

Resource (10)

Icebreaker (4)

Program (12)

I get that SMC finds D4v1d and other cool stuff, but you could import 3x Special Order for your 1-of breaker suite for the influence price of 2x SMC.

I want flexibility and making use of the bad pub from valencia ;). Need to be tested for sure

One thing about Investigative Journalism is that you can use it as a safeguard against bad pub removal. Blue Sun recurring Elizabeth Mills aside, the other forms of removing bad pub are one-off.

So you can install Investigative Journalism and then use it only when they remove the bad pub, ensuring your Blackmails are still usable.

If you’re using Investigative Journalism for that purpose, my guess is 2x will probably do.

This is the shell I’ve been tinkering with for weeks, and I’ve been testing it with Whizzard extensively. Here are the tweaks I agonize over:

Vigil + Memstrips vs. Grimoire
Haven’t played with Vigil, but reports says it’s good 2/3 turns. Even without credit denial it’s going to to be effective. But Grimoire is a very good 2 card solution for MU. It’s ability is really useful in this build because insta-para kill is a thing

Yog.0
I’ve cut it. I just never wanted to install it, as Atfour and parasuckers are my code gate solutions. This may change with Wormhole being everywhere soon, and I’m actually consider a Gordian in place of Atfour.

1 or 2 D4v1ds
It was 1 at first, but with the new expansion, and when Clot comes out, big Ice is going to be everywhere. Valencia’s 50 cards makes 2 easy, but in other IDs it’s sooo tough to slot 2.

Do you make space for win-more cards?
These would be Incubator, Showing Off, Demo Run, and, don’t overreact, but Imp (not win-more, but it’s extra in this build). These cards cut into econ.

Econ/card draw package
In testing Whizzard I’ve been running 3x Cyberfeeder, which are really good in this deck. You’re looking to cut Investigative, and that might be what for. Casts is fine in this slot too, but I think Feeder’s more versatile because we will see more and more tagstorm. Plus it’s potentially worth a lot more than Casts.

3 Inject is very good. I really like that card. 3 Steelskin is also a standard. I’m planning on cutting the tempo hit that Earthrise is and just embracing Vigil. What are your thoughts?

As for this Valencia build I have questions:
How you can justify Tallie? A little extra flatline protection? That’s just a lot of moving parts for something that will rarely be useful.

2 Parasites and 3 Datasuckers? I’ve switched those numbers in my shell and have been happy. Datasucker’s a dead draw after the first, and it’s great early, but fine if it comes mid game. There will be more and more Blue Sun though.

No SOT for Blackmail?

I think my main concern with that list would be the number of cards that set back your tempo when you play them - Casts, Earthrise, Liberated and Journalism in particular.

I agree and it’s probably not optimal but if you have better suggestion I’m pretty open to it

That’s the nature of Anarch econ, a little clunky but effective. And Stimhack is always there to counterbalance that. Queen’s Gambit is a fine card, though, if you’re looking for burstier econ. Dirty Laundries aren’t bad either.

I think it’s tough not to go -2 Grimoire -2 Earthrise and replace them with +2 Vigil, +1 Memstrips for card draw and a late-game memory.

Also, Tallie why? How on earth did she survive the first cut? Same Old Thing has 2 good targets, Stimhack and Blackmail, and a decent third in Deja Vu.

Armitage instead of Liberated or Casts. I don’t think you need Earthrise with Inject and Steelskin. Maybe Queen’s Gambit although I still treat that card with caution.

Idk, I find Queen’s Gambit works out pretty well for me most of the time. It has lots of targets in the NEH matchup, a couple in RP, so many in PE…the issue I have with QG isn’t that you might advance an agenda, it’s that against some decks there’s never really a target.

I also hate when I reveal a Gambit with Inject and then have to wonder if every face down card in remotes is the corp trolling me with an agenda. Nakaii on OCTGN did it to me so bad twice in a row, with Priority Reqs no less.

My personal favorite was double QG a Mushined (what turned out to be a) Cerebral Overwriter against PE. I was like “well, I’m never running this card anyways, might as well get some money out of it” haha

Aesop is a bigger exception.

Yeah… and the flipside is when you do that and it turns out to be a Braintrust. I mean… why the hell would you play Braintrust like that?!

(he was pretty happy with his -3 rez cost though, I’ll tell you)

I think Valencia means you have to play a different corp deck. Take whatever you had and either throw in bad-pub protection or shred it. Maybe some auto rezzing cards? Architect+Oversight AI? Doesn’t really matter, once black mail is in play and suitable recurring shows up you can’t rez ice anymore… And then the eater keyhole lock comes down and you’re done.

all I can say is at least run 1 Mimic, especially if you go up to 3 Special Order. I definitely think Swordsman is going to start showing up, although to be fair people have been saying “Swordsman is going to come back” since, like, the card was released.
