@calimsha has been saying for a while that crim needs something like these from ONR

Good points. Even with the trash on steal condition itâs probably too easy to keep the Corp down once this hits the table.
This would be awesome as one-shot event (maybe even making them losing 2c), but the current drawback isnât enough: the corp is not going to be able to score if you drop this with >2 ice rezzed.
In all seriousness, what are you guys doing about Archangel?
Normally you can at least put a Faerie out and start running. Ideally you put a Faerie and a Desperado down. But this card basically means you canât invest too heavily in your board state or take a pretty painful setback. Early game, losing a Desperado or a loaded Kati or something is quite a tempo swing.
And then mid-game, itâs like a Sentry that isnât a Sentry. RDI, Yog.0 and Femme are huge targets, so you really canât facecheck safely without a non-Yog.0 decoder available.
Shapers have SMC (and often Cyber Cipher), and Anarchs have D4v1d. I donât see anything similarly helpful for Crims against this.
What are you guys doing?
Passport is the best solution I know, and itâs awful. Itâs worth noting that you can pay off the trace, too, but blech. Itâs not even easily in cloud breaker range, at least not until sports hopper comes out.
Even then, having six breakers installed already is not âeasilyâ. I tried Passport, but at 5 credits youâre often just matching the trace anyway.
And on the subject of paying/matching at 5 credits: thatâs a hell of a thing to be forced to do. May as well reinstall that Desperado a lot of the time.
And Iâd forgotten it triggers on access sometimes, too. So you canât even work around it by avoiding unknown ice. And Passport doesnât help thereâŚ
Time to stack link?
A set up Geist can use a cloud breaker (or if theyâre on the link plan just pay through the trace). Passport is tough at 5c but not backbreaking.
Otherwise I guess you just have to play around a facedown/ambushed Archangel wrt to Kati. Replaying a Desperado hurts but youâre down 3 credits and a click to the Corps 3/4 credits spent which isnât that huge an impact?
Youâre down 3 credits and a click (or worse). The corp is down four credits and has a strength 6 Code Gate blocking access to a server. It has been a huge impact in every game Iâve played, on both sides of the table.
On top of that, do your really want to run around pressuring a rez with Security Testing with that lurking around?
Oh I know its bad, just not the disaster losing a loaded Kati will be. This is talking about the surprise Archangel - it is a board dominating presence once rezzed but criminal has always had to deal with nasty ice.
And no you donât want to security test with that caliber of ice around - thatâs one of the reasons criminal is struggling right now.
I havenât run into Archangel with any of my crim decks yet, but unless Iâm playing Ken with real breakers I wouldnât be happy to deal with the thing. Gross.
Andysucker is fine - against NBN I have either a bunch of suckers, a bunch of money, or quite often both.
Itâs fine to facecheck, but if itâs over a server you want to hit multiple times it can get taxing very quickly and, unlike Tollbooth, itâs not a viable shutdown target due to its cost efficiency.
Yeah, thatâs fair enough. Itâs a pain, but you can get through it if you need to, so I think itâs not as big of a problem as it seems.
This is in the context of Andysucker though, YMMV with other Crim decks.
You can always get through it if you need to, though. Worst case scenario is just pay the trace. The question is how can Criminal efficiently threaten a server protected by it, and I donât know that thereâs a great answer.
Iâd also like to point out it takes Refractor two stealth credits. Two! Stealth Andromeda was not a happy runner that game.
I think the answer is probably the same as crims answer to all their problems - go threaten another server and come back to this one later when you need to.
Itâs not crazy. Right? Itâs not crazy.
