[Blue Sun] Bootcamp Glacier

@bblum How often have you missed having the 2nd lotus?

I’m still playing 2 lotuses myself; currently trying out chronos as an inf-free heap hoser. Need to do some testing on how often blacklist would be good versus how often you’ll miss your 2nd lotus. (But I always miss having booth.)

The main issue i’ve got with blacklist is that the card do nothing at all and take up inf against crim and some anarchs decks. And even against Kate, it isn’t that good because the majority of kate deck play either gordian or zu instead of the second CyCy. In fact, Blacklist only hose double CyCy kate deck (who are arguably stronger than Gordian :D) but do pretty much nothing against a more conventionnal kate decks. It also force you to have a second remote, which is something you don’t really want especially against shaper since it stretch a bit your ice and protecting the secondary remote can be a one or two turn tempo hit on your own gameplan.

I feel it’s gonna be the same as clot : a strong hate card who will force player to build / play differently but in the end, won’t be much played.

Iv tried chronos in BS, im not sure my choices for re-balancing the agenda distribution are wise though. Iv gone:

1x Chronos
2x NAPD
3x Pri Req
3x Atlas

Coming from playing RP exclusively since the start of the year this spread makes sense to me in terms of the scoring pattern, 2/2/3, but im not sure if its the right call for BS glacier.

Be interested in your thoughts on this.

@bblum Thanks for your input with the decks!

For everyone here, I piloted this thing deck to 2nd place at the Colorado regionals. Had my last agenda sniped from a 4-ice deep server (Wormhole, Tollbooth, Cad, Datapike) the turn before I score the winning agenda in the final round. It was a long a slow slog and I thought I had it in the bag. Made the runner really, really work for it.

How did Blacklist work out for you? I’ve been trying it as well and while I’m glad to know I can always search for it, I either haven’t needed it or haven’t been able to protect. How did it fare for you?

Honestly it only mattered two games during the tourney. But it did completely shut down PPVP Kate and prevented an Andy sucker deck from recurring a ā€œRexā€. If I’d actually gone against more Anarch or PPVP Kate it would have been pretty good.

Overall it was a bit ā€˜meh’, but needs more testing against a meta tournament.

This was a weird regionals, 40 people and no Jinteki in top 8. Several FA in top 8 as well, really regretted not bringing clot. Would have won me the tournament if I did.

in a weird way its the perfect time to play fast advance. i noticed a lot of runners seem content to let the fear of clot do the work without actually putting the card in the deck lol.

Agreed, and it bit me in that ass playing Nick (the guy that won). I made him work for both wins against me, so not disappointed at all. Definitely a fun set of matches.

Blue Sun was a little sub-par, but somehow managed to carry me through. My favorite scoring server tended to be:

Curtain Wall + Oversight
Curtain Wall
Tollbooth

Ash
Agenda

Was willing to sacrifice the first Curtain Wall to boost the 2nd back up to S10. 14 Credits and two lady tokens or 22 credits for corroder for the Curtain Walls and 5 credits for CyCy or 7 for Gordian made for an expensive server…plus needing enough credits to beat the Ash trace or having enough credits to get through twice and trash Ash.

Only had 1 game go too long, though, so that wasn’t as bad as I thought.

Nice job! What did you think of your agenda suite? I’ve been thinking I’d rather have the 2 prireq 2 chronos setup with the idea that it’s easier to find chronos when it would matter without spending an atlas token on it, but maybe for a tournament as long as a regionals, the 1 vs 2 pri req RNG mitigation matters more.

I’m kinda leaning Dan’s direction on this. The games I lost with the deck was when Pri Req was sniped. I’d really rather have the single copy. I really don’t want to have it floating in the hand or deck if I’ve already scored it out. For the most part I was able to find it when I needed with an Atlas token (except for the last game in Elims when I didn’t see a single Atlas the whole game). The usually play was have a solid server early (often times a OAI Curtain Wall/Hive and maybe Hive/Lotus behind it) and maybe an Ash then IAA and atlas. Next turn score it out with 1 or 2 tokens as needed and if I have a third click open do whatever is needed at the time. Tutor the Pri Req if still confident in the server and IAA immediately Usually managed to score 5 points in very quick succession once a window opened up.

I think my fastest was (PA and NAPD in hand) was against Valencia. Had a single OAI’d Curtain wall and scored an the atlas with 1 counter on it turn 4. Tutored the Pri Req (Val was nearly broke and only had eater as a breaker and Blackmail was useless) on turn 5. Scored it turn 6 and rezzed another installed Curtain Wall. Turn 7 IA the NAPD (because I’m an idiot). Turn 8 realized I can’t score the NAPD because of bad pub (like I said, an idiot). Val can only get in once and won’t be able to beat the Ash trace or even trash him. Turn 9 actually score it out.

Same goes for Chronos. I scored out a chronos twice and it only really mattered once. With a tutorable Blacklist it wasn’t a huge deal. For the most part Blacklist held up the runner long enough to find the Chronos. I never used an Atlas token to grab it and honestly probably kept it in my hand with the ā€œI need to save the for when it really mattersā€ mentality and it ended up clogging up HQ when I would have rather scored out other agendas.

Overall one copy of each is pretty solid.

Oh! And honestly I didn’t really miss the loss of one Lotus field for Blacklist. Granted I didn’t really come up against any anarchs that could land parasites fast enough with DS tokens. Cyberdex Virus Suite held it’s own in several matches. Often cleared datasucker tokens at just the right time or sat in archives with a single piece of ice to both dissuade Dirty Laundry runs and prevent datasucker charging.

Very solid build, but some match-up are brutal drawn-out slogs. Only had two thankfully. Once in swiss vs PPVP Kate and at the championship round vs Andy suckers/parasite. @CrimsonWraith already posted that Andy list to the front page.

How did you find the andysucker matchup? Seems like it’s really easy for hive to die, but maybe as long as you can protect your tollbooths the impact of parasite won’t be too bad. Any new tactics/strategies for dealing with it beyond icing archives (which you’re already doing vs sec testing)?

you could go with 1x pri req, 3x chronos, 3x NAPD, 3x Atlas, 1x Corp War. This means you never have to telegraph chronos or blacklist with atlas/bootcamp and you get to sneak an archer or two back into the list. i find myself really missing archer. runners expend a lot of resources to deny curtain wall and slog into the scoring remote to the point i’ve often thought if i had archer i could end the game. i also cannot stomach mimic solving all my sentries lol…it really tilts me for some reason.

Oof, it was long and brutal. He did hit with two parasites, but I was able to nearly lock him out of R&D and HQ with a CVS in archives. He almost never collected enough data sucker tokens to do anything. Two Datapikes did die to it before I chronos’d a bit over half his deck into oblivion. The other problem Andy Suckers had was I slapped crisium down on HQ and it cost so much to get through and trash it that he could really only make one run every two or three turns. He burned trashed crisium three times and I kept using Jackson or Interns to bring them in.

Nick (the Regional Winner) ran Andy with only Rex and no passport and I think I managed to nuke his Yog.0 in the Chronos purge after forcing him to overdraw clearing tags after his single successful siphon. That or it was still buried in his deck and he didn’t have and special orders left.

The towers of code gates is and Curtain Wall + Crisium is what stone walled him for the most part. Unfortunately black list got trashed and I couldn’t prevent him from bringing back the Rex that wasn’t in the Chronos purge from his single clone chip. Combined with an Inside job he was able to just have enough to get through the 4 - high tower of ice (Wormhole - Tollbooth - Caduceus - Datapike - Crisium). He had the R&D interface out and pulled the winning agenda on the second card. If he hadn’t have won that turn he would never have been able to get into any of the centrals again. The said agenda he pulled was an Atlas…the only one seen the entire game. 7 - 5 win for him. Great game and tense the entire way through. Thought I had it in the bag, but he pulled off a miracle (didn’t help that he got the Pri Req early).

Archer could have been useful…but…I just dunno. Lots of PPVP Kate dump sharpshooter into the heap as soon as possible and archer becomes a wash. It might have helped, but would have knocked me down to 4 points, during that final game…but that’s it.

However Colorado has a very weird meta and it’s hard to make a call against the standard fair. I think in a different style of list, archer could work…but I didn’t feel like I needed it. Honestly I’d almost rather use wormhole to trigger a negotiator sub.

Overall conclusion: Crisium and CVS do most of the work you need. Archer could be useful, but the agenda point hit makes me worry sometimes.

11 agendas, especially 1 pointers, worries me a bit. Personally I liked keeping it at 10. 9 was nice, but a Pri Req steal just kills. I’d be willing to test it out…but at that point I’d do 1 Chronos, 2 Hostile. Maybe 2 Chronos, 1 Hostile if you really want to find a Chronos.

But that really starts shifting your deck space away from the basics and changes up your ice suite. At that point, I’d revert back to a rush build. Games are already slow and methodical enough without giving away points. Granted, I haven’t tested it at all so who knows?

What ice would you take with it?

Play taurus!

this is probably where i take it if im including chronos at all. if im going to mess up my scoring pattern with chronos i want something for my trouble. sure archer may not wreck the pro’s but its taxing as hell and it does ETR.

2 chronos and a blacklist seems like you a hedging and will end up with a weird mid game where you scoring pattern is all messed up, you have an awkward blacklist remote and two pri reqs floating around in RnD waiting to screw you :).

i dont know if i sneak taurus in this kind of deck until net ready eyes are everywhere. good pre-planning though

It blows up RDIs, desperados, and clone chips already. NREs will just be icing.

Played in another small tournament. (I wish our GNKs would be bigger than 6-8 people around here…) Was using the same inf/agenda suite as @nungunz. Seems good, although I wish I didn’t need Chronos, as being able to have Hostile be the 7th point would be amazing. I also wish more people around here played Kate and MaxX so I could test the Blacklist out.

I lost two games, but one was to a Leela lucksacking into 7 points in one turn. I did have one unwinnable match, though. Supplier Andy w/ Vamp, D4V1D, Overmind and Uninstall. My Kingdom for a Swordsman… It’s REALLY hard to do anything about 50+ credits and 30+ on Kati.
