I was never more scared today as a corp than when I sat across of Eddie Kim. Running a Midseasons/Psycho build with small porous ICE definitely made me feel the pressure.
So close⦠I lost the finals match of a store championship with Edward today. So no first place spot for him yet (as far as Iām aware) but heās at least reached second! I still believe there is a strong deck for him and he is in a strong position right now
Any Ops based combo plan is just screwed versus Kim if the game goes even a little his way. Normally a runner needs to build up a big bank or play an imp to interact with these strategies. Edward? Nope, every access has the potential to knock a combo piece into archives. The only way to combat this is to properly defend your serves, which is no easy task for a deck built around the threat of the combo.
I did get a boost by running TWIY*, so with the increased hand size the only operation that an Eddie accessed was a spare Psycho far after the game was well in hand. But it definitely slowed me down to ICE my R&D better than I thought Iād have to in testing.
Eater and other builds as well as the rise in anarch strength (if not parity, still the amount of people decktesting) is increasing big runs on HQ.
This is accomplished by way of wanton destruction, hemorage, Legwork, etc.
I donāt believe that the meta has yet adjusted but I do believe that we will see slightly increased play of panic button, research station, TWIY as corps adjust.
I know Timmy just pulled of a Kim win last night in San Diego. Hopefully he shares his list.
had been wondering when weād see some California SC lists
Catching up on the Ed Kim thread (only came back to the game 2 weeks ago, already feels like I never stopped other than that I have no idea how to play against Blue Sun) and sawā¦
ā¦I got so happy that there was a Stimhacker with screen name āStrawman.ā But there isnāt. Then I got mad that I never considered naming my forum personalities after logical fallacies. Would have saved so much time!
What build were you running? What was your record with Kim overall? What Corps did you face?
I played the same deck I posted awhile back
Location-Mead Hall Minneapolis MN (2/21/2015)
Place- 2nd out of 48
6 rounds of Swiss/cut to top 8/Double Elimination
Hammer Kills on the day⦠23 operations
Game 1 vs BS Punitive/Glacier (Tie 4-4)
Was in control just ran out of time
Game 2 vs Neh Fa (Loss)
ASTROTRAIN! Woop Woop
Game 3 vs Titan Fa (Loss)
I can handle planting into 1 archer, not 2ā¦
Game 4 vs Neh Fa (Win)
Morning star for hive/PT Yog for lotus/medium just like we planned
Game 5 vs Foundry Grail (Win)
Hit an early Lancelot, yet with all the recursion got back into it mighty quick
Game 6 vs BS Off the Grid (Loss)
Scored 3 turn one, after that I couldnāt stop the OAI/Orion which turned into locking me out long enough for him to do the mushin/grid(s) combo
Double Elim
Game 1 vs Neh Turtleback āThingā (Loss)
I got both Security Testings, So I thought I would trash everything he put out. Wrong plan as he just had too many assets⦠we played a second game just for fun while we waited and I went with the original medium dig plan which worked (Not-official Win)
Game 3 vs Neh DRT/Snare (Win)
Even though it didnāt work last time, I ran everything as I had to keep him poor and honest as he tried to sneak agendas around snares
Game 5 vs Neh Fa (Win)
Pressured hard and fast, hammered some ops and it was only a matter of time
Game 7 vs ETF Fa (Loss 6-8)
Was a true heartbreaker, one with a major mistake looking back. I didnāt trash the DBS due to the thought I had to apply continuous pressure.
So while I MAY have been carried by my undefeated corp deck⦠Edward was good to me overall. There are some changes I would make to the deck but like I stated before I think heās in a decent spot within the current meta and with a few decks tweaks could pose a real threat to many corps.
This is the list @tmoiynmwg used, from the winning deck list

OK. The Knights are definitely a clunky inclusion. itās just better to have more econ. this is the list I am currently running and sticking to for a good bit. I htink D4vid is simply a must-include with all of the constellation ICE, Tollbooth, etc. I['m surprised at how effective the janky-looking economy is and Sneakdoor-Nerve Agent has been a great mid-game play with Edās ability:
Also, I just find Grimoire to be far more useful than Vigil. I need the memory more because of Sneakdoor Beta and the utility ability on Grimoire is just solid. I also went back to 3x Imp because itās just too good in the current meta. Kimās ability is wonderful, but sometimes I end up accessing 2 operations I want to trash and also drawing one in my opening hand vs SanSan decks is too good to deny. Imp is useful in literally every Corp matchup.

Iād actually like to make room for the 3rd Liberated Accounts. The Yog is what is currently taking up that slot. There are currently 13 economy cards and the 2 Datasuckers make for ā15.ā If you feel Imp is not useful, you can change the ratio of Imps/Datasuckers back to 2/3 respectively.
The Djinn has been excellent for me - fetching more Imps or Datasucker when I need it or the Nerve Agent when I am getting ready to Sneakdoor. Itās still an excellent first SMC target barring surprise Destroyer Ice.
Iām going to be playing this list for the next two weeks until our next local SC to see if it needs more tweaking. It doesnāt look all that exciting on paper because there arenāt a lot of ātricksā but I have grown to feel that Edward doesnāt need too many tricks. His ability plus the utility viruses are just peanut butter and jelly.
Online last night I had a Weyland player who was playing GRNDL and GRNDL Refineries comment with āIām not used to Anarchs having so much money.ā My turns would often consist of drawing a card, making a run, clicking for money and loading Kati. Turn after turn after turn. I like threatening all three centrals in this deck.
Yea I went with that build minus Casts for Plascrate, but am thinking of Quanju can be of any use. I see your use of Grimore and Djinn esp. with SMC. Question is how fast we can get going.
Iāve gotten set up fairly quickly because of the 3x Corroder and 2x Mimic. Iām often drawing one of those breakers and an SMC in the early game along with econ. Drawing an early D4vid is not bad either. It can set up as quickly as any Criminal deck using 3x Special Orders.
Iāve dumped the Plascrete trying to leverage Edās ability and the 3x Iāve Had Worse. If you arenāt playing against meat damage (like Fast Advance) then the Iāve Had Worse help dig into your money and breakers faster. Iāve used Sneakdoor Beta/Imp in the midgame if I fear flatline strategies, too. If you have an IHW in hand and take one piece of the flatline combo out of their hand, you shouldnāt fear flatline.
Yea I feel like between that and Imp should be enough to cut out key cards. Parasite has been feeling weak lately, since Ice seem to average 4 str. And really the best counter for tags is going to be money.
Still super tempted to try BlacKat.
4 str ice got you down? Talk to your doctor about wyrm
You raise a good point. Maybe the breakdown should be 3x Imp and 2x Parasite. I just see a lot of Quandary early game and think I need that Parasite to keep some early pressure while I draw real breakers.
Stay away from BlackKat. You have D4vid and Corroder and Parasite.
Yea depends on the matchup. Great for NBN between popup, wrapraround, quandry and other starter Ice, ass for most weyland ice, better with Grimore out (Nothing like installing a Parasite on an Ice Wall just to have it advanced next round). But anything above that itās turns waiting for the tick down while either looking for breakers.
Course now Iām looking at sticking in Scrubbed for current hate/hey I just insta dropped that 3 str wall.
Against Weyland, I fetch Datasucker first and build up counters so that I can kill whatever my main target is for Parasite before they can do their Blue Sun shenanigans. I considered Scrubbed but the deckspace is just too tight. I donāt dare cut any econ and the ā45th slotā is currently the Yog. I canāt see wanting Scrubbed over Yog.
This is what I was doing for room.
