If you’re talking to your doctor about Wyrm, he’s probably smiling and reaching for the phone to call the orderlies to take you away…
I don’t think you need to spend the influence on sneakdoor beta. lots of archives threats in faction. It’s kind of the factions schtick
I’d rather drop Sneakdoor and one of the SMCs for a full set of Clone Chips (which can serve as extra SMCs really), and downgrade the Gordian to a Zu (cheaper install, if you’re relying on Datasucker+Yog mostly.
Kinda makes sense. Arguably if we do get a Gordian over Zul for first breaker, it goes down and gets running better than Zul. It faces stacked gates better and a better response to Lotus. But Kim wants accesses. The more operations I can see and trash the better. HQ is a particular weakness in this strategy.
Except they don’t. If I have a Clone Chip in the early game and I see an Architect and I haven’t drawn one of my two Mimics, I’d much much much rather have the SMC. The idea for the SMCs is that Plan A - they speed the deck up. Plan B is utility. Clone Chip does nothing to speed up accesses. It adds utility.
I could argue that SMC does CLone Chip’s job bhy fetching Djinn so you can tutor your virus utilities.
The main job of the SMC in this deck is to perform the same function that criminal’s Special Orders perform - find your breakers. Edward wants to access (primarily HQ) and Corps know that. I really want an SMC in my opening hand and playing all 3 is the surest way of making that happen.
As for the Sneakdoor … it has done far more good than harm for me in this build. It gets Ed into HQ where he finds those midgame Trick of Light and Biotic and Meat damage cards. If agendas show up, that’s bonus.
The main value I’d see Clone Chip having is recurring D4vid and while valuable, it is still doable with the Deja Vus in the main build. Of course, instant Parasite can be a thing, too, but we’ve already decided to go down to 2x Parasite because it is less useful than it had been.
This deck doesn’t really want that many of its programs in the Heap or else it would run Inject. it wants to draw/find its programs from deck.
Granted, SMC also can get out a Parasite just as fast.
So I took out a DS and a Parasite for 2 Scrubbed in the expectation Housekeeping sounds like something making rounds, and it didn’t play much when I would rather see a Parasite ticking. It does sound like something early that might have worked once a rig is out, but the finding of parts was always the issue.
I don’t think I’d ever cut a Datasucker anymore because it’s really an econ card more than anything. Housekeeping is rather annoying but I think you’re just better off trying to find an agenda. For now.
How’s your list doing nowadays? I’ve tried it just a bit so I’m not too experienced with it but have you tried a Stimhack over something like Armitage? Stimhacking out Sneakdoor, Gordian Blade or Yog Feels pretty good to me.
That might be necessary, but I also want to cut an Armitage for another Kati just to get that online sooner. Permanent Econ usually has to be the thing.
I’ve tried 0, 1 and 2 Stimhacks (usually replacing another econ card like the Liberated) and while it’s awesome when SMC comes online, it’s just too much variance. Sometimes the Stimhack is in my hand with nothing to use it on and other times I get the SMC and wish I had the Stimhack but it’s nowhere to be found. I haven’t played it enough times to make a strong enough comment on it. I believe that a 1x Stimhack is the “correct” play but I’ve been running with 0 for a while now.
If I ran more card draw or another way to abuse it (Clone Chip, Personal Workshop, etc), I’d be more inclined to try to make it work.
Right now, it’s not really the econ that I’m worried about. the deck makes enough money and quickly enough with Armitage in the early game. The thing that gets me now is what is the proper number and types of breakers. I think I’m close with my current configuration but I’m not sure it’s right. I’d like just a little more consistency that seems like it can only be obtained by adding more breakers or more recursion cards.
I’m wondering if Donut has any use with Kim.
Seems like overkill - Also makes a lot events you really want to play in Anarch worse.
It’s also spending influence in a way that’s negated to some extent in certain matchups - if the corps already not playing very many operations, tying up 2-4 influence on Donut certainly isn’t going to help much, and you’re already in the hole because your ID text is mostly blank.
Donut never has any use, period.
Donut was ruined by 2 influence IMO. Should be 1 at most; you have to change your own deck just to leverage him. Very poor design IMO
There will come some sort of connections ID in criminal or something that it’ll make sense in…I hope
Honestly, I could see as influence becomes less about “need” and more about “tricks” he could have been ‘okay’ but the 3 cost kills it. Typically denial type decks don’t have tons of money from what I’ve seen (save for siphon spam gabe…). 3 is a lot when you can’t play your own events…
I doubt donut has any use in kim. it’s more useful to include a card(s) that grant you more access as that get’s you more hammer swings.
I’m sure donut can be useful but not as the main plan. More like a cog in a taxing scheme to round it out.
Donut would have been good in some deck types IMO if not for the influence. I’d have slotted him in some Whizzard builds without that, as to punish both Event and Operation econs.
Corps get boned MUCH harder than Runners by having a 1 tax on operations, as they tend to be less spectacular in general, and much tigher on the money.
Runners have good non-event economies, and very high impact events minimally affected by the tax (ie, Siphons, Indexing, TMEs, Legworks)
Hey all, I have followed the thread and I am planning on taking this deck to a store champs this weekend. Just wondering about thoughts on a play style to beat Blue Sun.It is prevalent in my Meta and I find that I can’t get through their economy over a long game.
Cutlery or stimhack might be that solution there. Cutlery will take out that ice sooner without the chance of a bounce. Stim will be able to surprise a run.
