E. Kim Appreciation Thread

Nope, waiting for the Criminal Modded for that - Wyldside, Chronotype, Daily Casts, Liberated Accounts, let’s party!

(also, for possible future streamed matches, I plan to have a version with Data Folding and Memstrips handy, too - to further please our tank-top wearing overlord)

Agree. That’s an Anarch card, it just costs 1 inf.

No Morning Star?

As I think Kim is the most Criminal-type of all the Anarchs, I’m rocking only a singleton of each breaker. Frees up room for more econ. The list is looking good, though.

Failing to see how this works, honestly. Criminal works with so few breakers because half their card pool is about getting in (and keeping getting in) without them. Half the Anarch card pool, on other hand, is powerful effects that only trigger after you get in.

Aside from Inside Job and Sneakdoor, I’d say the most commonly used tools by the Crims are in Anarch: Parasite+Datasucker…

Besides, Criminal’s most impactful cards also only trigger after you get in (Shutdown, Siphon, Leela, Desperado…). You’re creating a bit of a false dichotomy imo.

Yup, He’s a monster sometimes.

Agreed. Kim + IHW is often enough to make damage kill difficult, and Stimhack ruins that

Eh, I’d not say that much. The comparison I’ve given before is Gabe - get, so you can keep getting in. Gabe does this with a rebate, Kim does this with disruption.

I’m a much bigger fan of Scrubber in Kim. Half the reason to run Imp is to trash operations, which Kim does on his own. I’ve been playing him for a while, and I’ve had two games where I really wanted an Imp.

I think you and I have landed on completely different play styles, which is cool. I’m much more in the crim in orange end of things, while you’ve seemed to land in a more midrangey place.

The severe lack of punishment cards in the American meta has inspired me to be a little more aggressive with my build for the last couple weeks; 3xStimhack, 2 SMC, 2 Clone Chip, 1 Atman, 2 Box-E. I cut my viruses down completely to 2 Medium and 2 Datasucker, and Box-E supplements the usual 2 Stimhacks I throw out per game. My setup time has become phenomenal and flexible, using Clone Chip to install a Morningstar or Atman4, or get out an SMC to tutor a second Medium if the game is swinging in my favor.

I’ve been trying 2 Progenitor with relative success, mostly because anarch breakers/Atman4 and a sucker token gets you into anywhere for next to nothing, and that being the case purging cannot lock you out. I’ve been focusing mine down for months now and have arrived at making him a Medium digging machine with a late game presence so great that you cannot stall to lock him out, by making 90 percent of the deck’s cards about affordable repeated runs, while maintaining enough draw potency that you can make runs early while drawing and setting up late game econ and still pressure a Corp to rez and stop you.

Hacktivism Meeting will be my way of dealing with assets, rather than Scrubber (which is still a dead draw in some stages of the games!); Hacktivism makes HQ access and disruption more impactful without you dedicating additional slots to HQ pressure. My only HQ pressure outside of Kim’s ability is 2 Wanton Destruction, and one Vamp. The Corp plays ops as they get them? Then that hand is full of something else- Wanton it, then go back to mercilessly digging R&D to get Kim’s ability up and running. Vamp is there for taxing scoring remotes with Ash and/or Caprice- I want to save my Stimhacks for installing breakers instead of cracking remotes, if I can help it.

HQ Kim
Random thoughts for drip based Kim. The other option would be drop supplier and get other connections that make money, go for the apartment. Work the draw angle instead of discount. 3 up that Career Fair.

The lack of Kati Is a bit odd. Also, screwed versus blue sun with a Lotus Field.

Also - Plascrete over IHW?

Yea I think the problem is wanting/needing to slot in all those extra programs. It might be worth swapping the HQ and Utopia for a Atman. Plascrate is something that can be put on Supplier, so the more that benefits that the better, I guess. IHW is something,

So this became my other thought, using Off Campus Apartment.

I’m already mad you dragged me into the Edward Kim thread.

Goodbye.

Hey @ItJustGotRielle I played a few games with this update to the Ed list and it was quite strong. Box-E does a great job of compensating for Stimhacks Brain Damage and with Clone Chip and SMC you have plenty of opportunities to use them. I think this could be the strongest version of SMC Kim so far because of the full utilization of Stimhack. Are you having success with this new build also?

So i wanted to try out a new anarch after playing noiseshop the whole SC season here in the UK. Ed Kim has always been something i wanted to try and with hacktivist meeting now out it seems like he could be the perfect econ denial runner.

Here’s a first draft. The idea is to hammer RnD for single accesses and blast away op econ before they can draw it, a neat trick i used in noise is to employ imp + virus mill to get additional accesses. I dont see why this couldn’t work in Kim, so imp is there for that. Medium well may be the correct choice though in terms of raw power.

Vamp + lamprey is for econ hate via HQ, hacktivist keeps them from rezzing asset econ when you go for the 2nd vamp, or 3rd if you recur vamp via deja vu. If played fast and aggresively then as with most econ denial decks the corp should be pooling agendas somewhat as they dont have the cash to score them safely, making hacktivist fairly nasty econ denial.

Parasite and knifed further nag at the corps cash flow, parasite also makes datasucker better (or is the other way around) and datasucker is pretty MVP with the fixed breaker suite. Cy-Cy i know is gonna get hate but its such a cheap answer to lotus field, and its fine to leave it on a central all game, clone chip it out to camp the remote if needs be but the idea is to have the corp so poor they cant rez anything over a remote anyway.

There are obvious flaws, and it needs testing and tuning, so please feel free to be uber critical.

EDIT: I read back over this thread quite a bit and have already found some changes to make, however ill leave this first draft up as it would be a good learning experience anyway to hear what people view as non-optimal with it.

Seems like a solid list to start with. Knight is an influence-free Lotus Field solution that accomplishes the same things that Cy-Cy does. And do you find you have enough economy? That’s been a critical issue in most of my games with Ed.

knight though fails in the blue sun matchup , which Cy-CY can as well if its a single ice remote

Well yeah. In the Blue Sun matchup, if they bounce Lotus and put it on another server, that kills off both Knight and CyCy. Knight + Atman4 is my preference at the moment in Kim.

Econ here is a package taken straight out of an older reina build, standard anarch stuff, SG, casts, kati, liberated. Its solid and goes the distance, i think it should be plenty and if you are strategic with accesses on RND and use of vamp, you should be fine. One econ addition is earthrise, as a few lists in this thread have used it, and the more veteran players posting here have stressed the importance of draw in general with Ed. I think thats correct. Your ID wants accesses, and quickly. Hence SMC, and buffing up the econ with plenty of draw. I dont know if there is enough in this build to be honest.

Yeah thats the problem with Cy-Cy, and anarchs have fewer ways to recur it (cy-cy) if you really need to. I think atman @4 is the correct answer for fixed breaker focused decks like Ed.
