I posted my remark because I’ve run a similar package: 3x Daily, 2x Kati, 2x Liberated, 3x SG, 2x Lucky Find, 1x Queen’s Gambit, 1x Stimhack, complemented by 2x Earthrise and 3x IHW as draw. And I still have the feeling I run on too low credit amounts all the time. I think the “strategic with accesses”-clause is what I need to work on. After playing around 10 games with my list, I do find Earthrise quite the tempo hit, and it nonbos with other high install costs of Daily Casts and Liberated. Might switch the Hotels with Symmetrical Visages and an extra Special Order at some point…
SymVis and special order is actually a pretty good idea, may try that myself at some point. Although stimhack into SMC is killer too.
it’s my opinion that all aggressive anarchs sans maxx and possibly noise (if wyldside) should be running triple visage.
Can you expand on that for the benefit of less experienced builders like myself?
I think It’s because since Anarch is short both fetch and recovery in good amounts, you will want to draw to find parts you need, but not want to suddenly throw away parts you want. Heavy draw like QT or even IHW can put you in a position of having to throw something you will need later but have to set up first. SV is just enough compression without the heavy drop of PC.
limited testing admittedly but I fall on the side of earthrise, special order
Honestly, Wyldside + Pancakes is pretty good, and Earthrise + IHW + Inject isn’t exactly bad. I don’t think Visage is all too good in aggressive Anarchs because Visage requires clicks, and there’s so many good alternatives in faction.
It’d be fine as a two-of but I don’t think Anarchs need it that badly with IHW/Inject.
I am going to try that Wyld Pancakes and try stealth again.
It definitely depends on the build. Before I went the Stimhack+SMC course, I played an Inject+Clone Chip Whizzard. I liked it a lot. I am wary of running Inject without Clone Chip, because you can end up in situations where you trash the program you desperately needed.
I am also wary of Wyldside + Pancakes because I am a firm believer in cards that are useful on their own. Wyldside is useful on its own; I’ve never actually tried it in an aggressive Anarch build. It seems like the click-loss would be a huge detriment. In the same way, Pancakes is 100% dead until you install Wyldside, and in my aggressive Anarch builds I like to avoid dead draws as much as possible. Visage does cost a click, but I don’t really ever find that a hindrance. I consider my current Whizzard build very aggressive, but it’s rare that I run twice a turn. I almost always run once, though. A typical turn is something like Visage, (flex click), Run, Kati On/Off. Perhaps Visage just caters to my playstyle, but I’ve been finding myself getting between 10-15 cards/credits off Visage every game. The value is huge.
kinda off-topic I guess. my point is that, if I were to play Eddie Kim, I’d play 3 Visage for sure.
I honestly haven’t given Eddie any play time. Even without testing, I can’t help but feel that he is weaker than Whizzard, especially in the current meta. IMO Whizzard’s strength lies in his unmatched ability to threaten remotes. Eddie threatens centrals, but Corps already dedicate ICE to centrals. Eddie on paper just seems like a weaker Gabe, admittedly very different since they are different factions. I feel the best Eddie build might be Parasite/Clone Chip.
Do yourself a favor and go back through this post, underlining everything you have an opinion on without actually playing it, then build a deck with those elements and play it for a while. You’ll probably be surprised
Do yourself a favor and make a single post on this forum that isn’t inflammatory, then see the positive discussion that results. You’ll probably be surprised (:
Hey guys… can’t we all just get some pancakes?
And then go to the club after? You’ll still have all day to do whatever you like!
I’m of the opinion that they do very different things. Whizzard gets a discount on trashing already trashable things- things the corp knows during deck building could get blown up.
Kim takes the most steady, hard to interact with card type - ops - and turns them into tissue paper. While he’s got less econ denial potential, it’s quite possible to disrupt any sort of non-econ ops plan.
Also, the Econ Ops are quite dense at the moment - Celebrity Gift, Restructure, OAI. Knocking a few of these into Archives has serious effects. Corps aren’t generally used to having 10 ish less credits in their deck.
The more I play Kim, the more I think I need to drop my clever tricks and play standard, albeit aggressive netrunner. Be the grumpy old man who doesn’t want to put up with all this nonsense. He’s weird in the sense that you don’t build around him, you just do sorta normal things and incidentally get value. Most ID’s like that - ETF, Kate, Gabe - give you a boost. Appropriately for the Anarch one, it instead adds disruption.
If your Edward Kim deck doesn’t have 3 copies of Hacktivist Meeting… there should be a really good reason for it
Thing is, Anarchs don’t have the tools (efficient econ and tutors) to play standard aggressive Netrunner. Their econ is almost there, but it’s still not close to Criminal fluidity. Shapers can splash for Lucky Find and still have their other needs met.
Every other Anarch besides Kim has an ability that they can leverage for enough disruption that it makes up for their lack of fundamentals. To play a standard pressure deck in Anarch, you need to splash a lot of tutors and lean on influence-free econ, namely Kati. And even with all the parasites and the in-faction breaker suite, PPVP Kate still does it better.
Whizzard is a lot like Kim in that he is best fitted to be a standard pressure runner. Whizzard is probably better because his ability saves him 9-15 credits a game, and trashing assets easily can severely slow down many corps. Kim, on the other hand, may only get to use his ability once or twice some games, and while it might make the corp sad to lose an econ op, it’s usually not game breaking. Unlike Whizzard, Kim has no built in econ help. That makes him slower.
Whizzard also threatens centrals hard. Kim edges him out a little here, but you’re not happy to have Whizzard casually trashing Jacksons out of R&D and HQ.
Lastly, Val does this kind of deck better than both Kim and Whizzard. Like Whizzard she has great built-in econ, and on top of that her Blackmails disrupt game plans significanly. They can also serve as great econ late game after the Corp has replaced trashed Ice.
I can see the comparison to Whizzard, at least. Val’s problems are a) deck size and b) hate, especially incidental hate.
As for not having the tools - sorta? I’ve been working with 2xSMC, 1xAtman, 3x Lucky Find.
It’s more that the risks you take are pretty high. I feel that you have enough Econ tools in faction, but choosing the right ones + the right package of chaos is part of the problem. My list tore shit up through the Blue Sun dominated Store Champ season, but it crashes hard versus RP (although the scrubber helps now).
Okay, so what do Anarchs need that they don’t have to play this style? Tutors, Econ -and an answer to Lotus Field. This is exactly why I avoided the Inject/Clone chip stuff - you don’t have enough influence to pack them in.
Even if you switch the Finds out - what do you bring in? That’s been my problem. Siphon is to situation. Security Testing is cool, but usually Archives gets stoppered up to point where it’s not profitable, and it’s not that awesome on remotes without Desperado. Shaper econ is to fiddly, or slow.
This is why I really want another not shit Anarch Decoder. Not that it has to be good - just something that isn’t so easily hosed out(or is hosed out by a different card). The faction has troubles already, kneecapping them on an ice type so hard seems just plain odd.
After losing every game with my latest list, last night, this is the take-home message for me. The current Anarch econ package just doesn’t flow. Every resource you install is a tempo hit. Sure, it gains you some good amounts of cash in a foreseen future, but you want to run NOW.
Here it is, tear it apart as you wish. I still think my decklist looks good on paper, but while I’m playing, it just feels really fucking slow and not able to pressure enough.

I wonder if Career Fair is viable to reduce the hit when installing money resources? Maybe drop…a Kati and the most useless 2 influence card you have (out of Lucky Find, Special Order, Clone Chip), and add in two career fair? Kati late is kinda suck, but saving 6 creds is not bad either. I wish there was a little more draw when running into a damage matchup (since you don’t want to play IHW in that situation), but it seems OK overall.
I’ve been going 3x SMC, 2x Clone, and 1x ZU in my latest Anarch pressure deck. Stimhack SMC seems too good to pass up.
I run Inject in these builds. I think you have to because of the speed it gives you. I also YOLO with 1x of each breaker.
I’m thinking of cutting the ZU and playing a Knight and some Spooned. Bootcamp glacier with its 2 Lotus Fields and and 2 Interns will probably be a frustrating blowout though.
Maybe 2x SMC, 1x Atman, 3x Clone Chip is the best choice. The Atfour is clunky because you really want to Stim it out, so the timing can be tricky. Still, Atman is probably better as Next Gold is seeing play along with Cyberdex Virus Suite. Relying on Mimic Suckers is dangerous. It’s so much better to be a Shaper.
The other influence spread I’ve toyed with is 2x Special Order, 2x Personal Touch, 3x Clone Chip, and 1x SMC. Getting that super Yog is satisfying, and the touches can be swapped for Net Ready once it’s released.
