Flashpoint Cycle!

Add Bishop. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think either NRE or 4man make null very playable and very powerful. Being able to yog an archangel by discarding a card is pretty sweet.

If we stay in assetland, he probably won’t outshine whizzard… But whizzard was seen as more-or-less a joke for over a year because assets were such a small part of the game, so don’t fall into the trap of thinking that today’s corp meta will stay static.

I think null is great design, despite that fact that he obviously doesn’t encourage parasite recursion.

His ID ability functions so well with anarchs breakers, yeah that’s cool. What is really neat though is that his ID functions very well with card redundancy. So you can pack your deck with copies of a card you only need one of, and the other copies have a pretty reasonable chance of still being useful. That’s nifty!

so just like every Faust deck ever

It’s more elegant and universal, Mr. fausty poopy pants.

I don’t foresee asset dominance going away any time soon. What was the last Operation that made a significant impact on the meta? Traffic Accident comes to mind. Assets have been defining the Corp game for a long time now.

While Whizzard has always been my Runner, since Honor and Profit, when people scoffed at me playing an ID that allowed for free Jackson trashes, at this point I would much rather play other IDs. Null is the definition of Reg-Ass IMO, a deck defined by its breaker suite.

That said, I don’t foresee Corps allowing serious Anarchs to venture outside Whizzard and Noise any time soon. MaXx is quite good but she’s almost a faction to herself, generally playing variant strategies. I don’t consider Devilcake particularly viable or as good as L4J was in its respective meta.

I will definitely be using Null to abuse Parasite, at least at first. The fixed breakers aren’t even efficient enough any more; that’s why we started using Faust in the first place. Paying 3c for Ichi and 5 for Hive is still a joke. It’s 100% understandable that Anarchs see this ID and think of the highest strength ICE they can melt at instant speed.

There’s a difference between defining the corp play and spam, though. SanSan was a definitive card in classic fastro, but most builds didn’t run much other ā€œmust trashā€ stuff. A lot of the Jeeves builds around now are the same way - Jeeves may be the defining card, but there aren’t a lot of other assets to trash. If these were the dominant corps at the moment, whizzard would probably not be the strongest anarch.

With Null’s ability you might see Prey being played out of faction.

My immediate reaction to this is to recoil in horror as I think about the possibilities. And then just… Meh. How is it better than Cutlery, and what do you trash? Cache? What else?

Play Scrubbed, then ideally nothing.

Null is good with RegAss Anarch suit, the fact is he is kind of awkward to use Faust.Just RegAss bullshit with Parasite recursion.

The news so far is quite refreshing and I think Damon did some pretty good job.I’m just a little sick of hearing complaining Anarch or something,we don’t know a lot of new cards and how MWL and the meta will be look like,at least complain after they are actually released.

And Criminal is now officially confirmed as a mini-faction.

And suckers, no ?

There’s a lot of 0 Str ICE being played, so even now it wouldn’t be ridiculous out of faction. It’s just the influence…

I was mostly thinking about it in Tenma, with SoTs.

That’s a good question. Do we know if Datasucker ā€˜works’ with Prey? Prey triggers when you pass the ice, and my understanding is you pass the ice after 3.2, but I’m not sure whether the encounter is considered to have ended when/as you pass the ice, or if passing the ice marks the end of the encounter, or what. I think that’s pretty crucial to determining whether Datasucker’s strength reduction is still in effect when Prey triggers.

If I recall correctly, Datasucker doesn’t work with Prey.

Yeah, it doesn’t (encounter ends prior to passing ice).

Technically you pass in 3.2 though.

Ice Carver is on encounter too : if Ice carver works with Prey, then DS works with Prey.

I prefer the Parasite road though.

Hmm… I was always under the impression that the encounter ended, then you passed. Basically, I just use this thing.

I think you can’t pass ice until the encounter ends and there isn’t an ETR (somewhere). Kind of like what it says here, although I’d be happy to be wrong (always fine with giving APEX more life).

Hmm… if that page is correct, the strength is still lowered at the time when prey fires.

And looking at the rules it seems it actually supports this, though it is a bit ambiguous. The rule says it is passed when the subroutines are broken or resolved, which is in the encounter step 3.2. data sucker works in the encounter step, which is the entire step 3.

Encounter
[…]
After the Runner breaks all of the ice’s subroutines and/or any
effects from unbroken subroutines resolve without ending the
run, he has passed that piece of ice.

I know it’s not as exciting as Mausolus (Weyland keeps up the ā€˜historical Kings’ theme - I do love how their megalomania comes through in their chosen ā€˜skin’ on the Net) -

But Georgia (the Jinteki floating Net Damage Sysop) is a pretty great little annoyance. It makes facechecking a special kind of hell if you keep a little Georgia Fund on the go to move her. Not sure the match checks out on ā€˜worth it’ in a serious game, but having her keep popping up like Bugs Bunny to whack the Runner upside the head then skedaddle oughtta be a lot of fun.

I’m an inveterate weakling re: Cambridge/1000 Cuts Jinteki, I’ll admit.

Observe and Destroy already looks slightly win-more (Runner has less than $6 = NBN is doing pretty well…unless it’s Corp has less than $6? HMM) - but what could it be? Surely not just ALL THE TAGS with ā€˜destroy’, and surely not damage…and there’s already a fair few Resource trashers, so it hopefully isn’t just a better All-Seeing I. Intrigued!

I briefly missed that Beth the Shaper Supplier didn’t stack her abilities and almost exploded in outrage. Reading~~~ helps us grow~~~~ (ā€œI, can do ANYthingā€¦ā€)
