Link's Adventure - The Sunny Lebeau Thread

I think sunny does care about the 2 MU, actually.

I tried this list twice: Deckbuilder Ā· NetrunnerDB

Seemed ok. Got to six points vs NEH, so I felt OK about that. Also beat a scrubby deck. Obviously this is not great data, but I think the Paige Piper helps a great deal.

With Street Peddler, you can fire off Paige on corpā€™s turn as well.

Sunny already prints money (or, as I like to call it: ā€œmunnyā€).

What she needs, in rough order of importance, is:

  1. A draw engine.
  2. Anti-rush tech.
  3. Anti-FA tech.

Medium still triggers off Sinclair. Medium is a triggered ability, not an on use ability. I can collect Datasucker tokens with Sinclair, but canā€™t use them on encountered Ice.

You can collect tokens but not see extra cards.

Ah, google was not giving me that answer.

Wendigo is the relevant precedent.

Also, in the specific case of Opus, I definitely wouldnā€™t play it if it meant I had to not play Folding (I know, I know, I initially refused to play it but ā€¦ as it turns out itā€™s pretty good).

As far as Iā€™m concerned, Sunny should be playing 2-3 MU of non-Cloud programs so that Folding is always on. In my case, itā€™s exactly 1 MU (Faust).

Nope. Except for cases where youā€™re dealing with a lot of multi-sub ICE, lots of ICE is in the range of <2 to boost and <2 to break for the ā€œstandardā€ breakers like Corroder, Gordian, Faerie, Mimic, etc. Occasionally getting efficiencies against ICE like Komainu will rarely pay off the inefficiencies of breaking ICE like Quandary (or Enigma last click, or wraparound) for 2.

This is why I feel like Multithreader and Datasucker arenā€™t just useful but are actually pretty vital to getting Sunnyā€™s rig functioning. Datasucker makes all the 2-and-5-strength ice 2c cheaper, and each Multithreader is a boost or break free per turn. I donā€™t know what Iā€™d do without them ā€“ even if they could do more elsewhere they do lots for her in ways she really needs.

But if Sunnyā€™s breakers arenā€™t the best, wouldnā€™t it be better to use better breakers, AND Multithreader/datasucker? I guess the argument there is the Influence costā€¦?

Yup, influence is the thing. I think you play Sunny for her link and the fact that it turns on Underworld Contacts and her console (and maybe Jak depending on the build) and her breakers are there so that you can use in faction options if you need to save inf. Thatā€™s not to be underestimated; being able to save 2 inf on Corroder to pick a worse-but-not-terrible option is useful if you find yourself just short what you need. But I think ideal Sunny builds arenā€™t often going to be going for each of her breakers but rather using them to save inf on bad imports (like taking Shrike in non-datasucker builds so that you donā€™t need backup for Mimic, or bringing the code-gate one instead of Zu/Gordian. I think Iā€™d take Corroder over Sherman no matter what due to Wraparound and how cheap Corroder is).

Yeah. Sherman is actually fairly solid, too ā€“ but the size of her deck means that you have to import more than one copy OR import ways to find them more reliably, on top of everything else.

And if you donā€™t import cloud breakers you throw away a big chunk of what makes her potentially strong (having 4 MU of support programs plus her breakers even before her console comes down).

I can totally see Zuu as an alternative to her decoder despite the influence. Not sure itā€™s how Iā€™d want to spend mine, but it seems like a pretty reasonable choice overall.

[/quote]I can see that, though I disagree on Corroder in particular because I think the two are much closer in power (though Corroder is clearly better overall). It really just comes down to what you need the influence for ā€“ Iā€™ve got most of mine tied up in economy and multiaccess so I canā€™t comfortably splash for those breakersā€¦ but find I can play Nexus more easily and make it work, which often does away with some of the need for them against many FA and Rush decks. Donā€™t think itā€™s the optimal deck just yet, but Iā€™m liking it well enough.

I also like, as noted above, having all the extra MUs, so Iā€™m disinterested in importing breakers that take actual memory rather than living on the cloud, because then I canā€™t have three Multithreaders and two Datasuckers for late-game support against Foodcoats, Blue Sun, and other glaciery decks. The amount of those I see in comparison to how many there are at top table in big tournaments is probably throwing my evaluation off some.

Also Security Chip. Base itā€™s 2 free credits on all breakers, and more for each extra link added for reasons.

Well I just played a Sunny game and blew through my deck really quickly.
John Masanori does good work.
Supplier, too. He helps put everything supporting the Security Mom into play.
Because I had Supplier, I looked at Resources/Hardware that would be Interesting to put into the deck, and ran across Professional Contacts. I gave it a shot, and it came out too late to really be of a lot of use, but it was pretty good to make sure Supplier kept a steady stream of Good Things coming.
Notably, I took out the Quality Times from the deck, but still was down to less than 8 cards in the deck at the end, while Corp had 28 left with only one Jackson. Iā€™d say thatā€™s pretty decent Velocity in card drawā€¦

I still had a problem with money, the econ engine being 3x Contact, 3x Casts, 3x Gamble. With 9 Link (Rabbit Hole gets along well with Supplier; you donā€™t HAVE to trigger itā€¦ And Dyson Mem Chip also likes Supplier.) Security Nexus turned into a beating for the corp, completely draining them if they wanted to actually use their shiny ICE they just got done paying for.

After playing with it, I think Supplier is a really good addition to Sunny. You just need to make sure you have 3x, so the influence cost is relatively steep.

Iā€™m still looking for something to do with all this extra MUā€¦3 Multithreader and 3 Datasucker doesnā€™t fill my 8 MUā€¦ Maybe the Dysons should go in exchange for some other Linkā€¦? What other Link is there? Access to Globalsec? (shudder)

Ist this what Security Nexus is supposed to be? I get that itā€™s a bunch of money to play and use, and that not something Sunny has, at least in the early game. But it can probobly be used as anti rush tech in an ideal situation. Or you could just splash 3 Account Siphon.

It does reduce any crappy faceplant at least 2 credit bypass or a tag and ETR.

Not quiiiiiiite.

You can have Nexus up around t3-t5 if you get Kati and some other econ in your opener, but Nexus is a little heavyweight for, like, a Quandary or an Ice Wall.

Iā€™ve played with 2x Inside Job, and with 3 Faust, and Iā€™ve been liking 3 Faust a lot.

I do end up doing a lot of pitching when looking for econ, since clicking just to put down this breaker isnā€™t always worth it.

Yeah, I only play 1 of Shrike and Striker, because with Faust and Nexus a lot of the time I donā€™t even want to install them.

Sherman I actually went up to 2-of because Wraparound, and I think that choice has already done work.
