It’s the influence isn’t it. The mini factions really should have had 30 influence, or at least Adam.
It’s the influence isn’t it. Why didn’t the mini factions (or at least Adam, because the directives make his cardpool three smaller and he doesn’t have a breaker) have 30 influence?
I think its just mostly that recurring credits are underwhelming. Especially at 3 cost. Also real credits are just better, so even data folding ends up better because for the same price you can passively get real cash. Some builds do make it work though, like the Hayley cacheharbshop (carbshop?) build with study guide. You basically have to have a sink for those extra creds, to get value every turn out of it, or else its just not great.
I never found the influence restrictive, but it’s the cost of drawing and playing them that is the real issue. This is more restrictive when sunny’s breakers are as costly as they are. You don’t have time to install a threader when you have a Nexus to find and install first.
Can we just pause and take a second to recognize how f**king broken some of Sunny’s cards are? Nexus is demoralizing for the Corp, and it allows facechecks to be not dagerous at all, Jak can be a free click every turn, Globasec Security can be amazing with HQ multi access, Security chip seems better and better the more I play with it, and the ability to break all subroutines with a streight cost is huge. I find it hard to believe there isn’t a viable Sunny build.
I’ve been tinkering with @higgs_bozo’s list, and it’s been preforming excellently. I think I’m going to cut the Calling in Favors, they never seem to gain me that much money, and probly the Peddlers for Quality Times, because Peddler would hit 2 cards that I wanted to play at some point during the game.
While I agree with the Peddlers (I might just have to make that swap myself, though instant The Source has saved me a couple times), I’ve never felt that Calling in Favors was the wrong call. By the time I really need the space in hand, it’s easily an easy mark, and regularly makes me 6-8 credits. Finding it late game against a glacier deck gives 11+.
Nothing quite like plowing through an Eli / Assassin / Tollbooth / Ash server with a Jak / Nexus / Access to Globalsec rig.
The viable build is the one you’re tinkering with now
Councilman and Plop will only make it stronger. One of the outs against this deck is rushing behind a remote Caprice and remove that and there’s hardly anything out there that can beat Sunny on a half-decent draw. Data Folding and Street Peddler (or Career Fair if folding goes out too) are reluctantly in my sights for test swaps. May need to go up to three Faust again if Peddlers are cut for testing when Democracy & Dogma hits.
Security Chip gives insane flexibility with Faust. My SC list had 2x Nexus 2x Chip instead of 3x Nexus 1x Chip. HB loves stacking Turings and can be upwards of 12+ credits savings late game.
The issue with Quality Time is that most of your installs draw you other cards, and a sudden +5 would cause some unwanted discards like Peddler does anyway, minus the speed & 1c saving. But it absolutely would be a good swap.
I’ve been at 3 Nexus 2 Chip because you really want that Nexus set up as fast as possible. I’m interested to see your list, could you post it up here? I am particularly curious about your influance, this is what I’m putting my inf as right now.
3 Off Campus
2 Source
2 Fall guy
2 Quality time
3 Career Fair
2 Film Critic
3 Faust
1 Nerve agent
And one flex (right now it’s scrubber, could become Calling in Favors)
Don’t cut Folding.
I understand that it’s tempting (“Data Folding! I can’t do better than this garbage?”), but when I first built the deck I tried playing with Dirty Laundry in those slots, and I was always so poor in the games where I opened Laundry. Your economy depends on having one of (Contact, Folding, Casts, Kati) out early.
I would also really hesitate to cut Peddler for that reason - zero cost makes it a good opening hand card, which Quality Time is not.
If you absolutely want to make a slot for Councilman (which I think is probably only worth putting in the deck against Corporate Town), you could condense 2 Career Fair or 2 Peddler into a Lucky Find.
I’m on 3 Nexus, too. A lot of times, I’ll see one earlier than I want it (often on Peddler), but when I was on 2x sometimes I got stuck in a position where I couldn’t find one, and that sucked. And who cares about dupes, because Faust! And Peddler!
I didn’t think of Chip as a good line of play against code gates but … hmmm, that could help.
Here’s a deck I’ve been piloting recently. Far from perfect, but it’s 14-2 on Jinteki.net and 7-2 in my local group (moderately-high competitive). Even with Earthrise Hotel and Symmetrical Visage, I’m pretty starved for card draw. Also, it suffers vs rush decks. Probably going to remove Donut Taganes for a Diesel or Quality Time. Surprisingly high win rate vs Fast Advance thanks to the Source. It truly shines versus glacier and other slower decks. Once the drip economy and resource suite gets established, it’s been unbeatable.

*Edit: made a few changes, seems to run a teensy bit smoother. Still wrecks spread out decks like gagarin, IG, turtlebacks
2x Symmetrical Visage is pretty bad, IMO. It’s a 2-cost resource that drips (at most) a credit per turn.
I get that you’re maxed out on Contact and Folding, but probably any econ card (e.g. 3rd Laundry) is better than the 2nd Visage slot.
I agree with Diesel over Donut; Donut and Lucky Find in the same deck seems bad.
Yeah sunny’s cards are great, the problem has always been getting them into play fast enough. Crushing RP and SYNC decks is pretty fun though.
Going to revisit my endless hunger version of the OCA Sunny deck again once Councilman is out as 0-cost connections are very much what the deck wants.
I am curious, with Assassin being a 2-3 of in pretty much every deck, Ichi’s in many, many decks, and asset spam being popular, Sunny seems pretty well poised in the meta right now.
Is hopper from Salsalette going to help speed her up? Is Councilman going to be the speed the deck needs in the off campus version?
All of her stuff except for her breakers are quite good right now.
Still, not fast enough against fastro. Actually sunny won our SC but it was an SC with zero fa decks in it.
Its a stretch, but has anyone tried fan site/artist colony in Sunny? 9 Influence seems steep, but it would certainly speed her up against astro and nearly universal tutoring might be worth the extra effort.
But maybe I am grasping at straws, looking for anything to get her up to a competitive level.
Its 12 influence if you want that artist colony early, plus you need influence for the things you’re getting with it to stop Fastro.
Sunny’s whole thing is a steep upfront investment for long term payout. You need a corp meta that is favourable to that plan, not the current one where corps rely on fast advance or defensive upgrades that don’t care about credit totals.
Sunny is trying to do a thing that runners were already so good at they’ve forced the corps to avoid those states altogether.
She can be re-evaluated whenever a) the corp meta shifts, b) more cards that provide/care for link come out or c) you can do something really good with her having 4+ MU for free.
I actually ran it at a SC a couple of weekends ago in my “Sunny’s Shipfic” deck, the joke being that she’s watching the news for public individuals involved in corp activities and writing stories about them touching the butts (JHow x Fisk being a popular pairing on praisethesun.fansite.network) and either selling them as commissions to interested parties (Data Dealer) or publishing them online and letting her fan base buy her stuff on her Amazon wish-list (Artist Colony). Don’t think I ever published the deck-list because I kind of wanted to make changes first. Also I did absolutely no testing with it before hand so I was flying by the seat of my pants trying to figure things out live.
I forgot to account for a few things. Like, say, how much of a asshole Mr. Li is. You have no idea how many times I saw my draw be Fan Site/Data Dealer or Fan Site/Artist Colony. Part of me’s tempted to just swap him out for Earthrise, since it’s at least draw that I’m not spending clicks on and it’d free up some influence to be used elsewhere.
Also was running a singleton of The Supplier (since he’s a fellow shipper), which turned out to be VERY handy but I was relying on actually drawing it. I had Career Fairs that I could probably easily cut for extra copies of it, which would make it at least a little more consistent. Getting the drip econ for free or 1 credit felt good, even if you wouldn’t get returns on it for a extra turn.
Didn’t have any forms of multi-access, which was rough. Turning Wheel I think would’ve probably been handy if it was out, since it’s probably going to rack up counters easily enough and it’s cheap influence-wise.
Also didn’t have any real anti-FA stuff in there, but it only would’ve come up in one game. Granted, I got crushed that game due to a lack of it (and not running aggressively enough for some reason… possibly due to exhaustion since I was really out of it), but I might be able to fit a Clot in there if I chuck Li.
The original deck-list, for posterity.

At least against non-FA, it seemed to do okay (although would probably rely on me making less dumb decisions piloting it). Probably going to continue working on tuning and playing it, if just because it’s fun.
Lastly, probably need to get the theme song for the deck in here.
New current spoiled. How do you think it’ll play into her game now?
I don’t think it will have as large of an impact as Patron and the upcoming turning wheel did/will.
Patron + Jak is Wyldcakes with an influence cost.
Turning Wheel is multiaccess at a huge discount.
The current is fine, but you almost want the corp to have scored four points before you start scoring to maximize its utility.
