Link's Adventure - The Sunny Lebeau Thread

I don’t think you use Nexus until you have about 10 spare creds anyway if the corp is richer than you. Against fast decks there’s almost always an open server, against slower decks you can afford to wait for the drip econ to make it unwise for the corp to vamp themselves.

Security Testing is 3 influence and untutorable. You have a 50 card deck. There’s almost certainly a better way to spend that influence.

Yeah. I want it to be good, but I think the chance to get an access (even on Archives), combined with potential datasuckers and a Masanori draw for no clicks is probably good enough. If you can squeeze it in, though, sure, it’d be good… but there are other things I might want to grab more.

Paige Piper and rabbit hole?

The lack of talk on Sunny, at least in comparison to the other two runner identities in D&D, is really disappointing. I’ve just begun testing Sunny recently, and I’m really surprised at how nice the drip econ has been, and how disruptive the in-faction breakers really are with the support of the Drip Econ. The breakers utterly demolish any corp foolish enough to run the Grail Ice against her, and provide a somewhat efficient way around bigger ice.

Granted, the biggest hurdle I’ve been running into is the lack of in-faction Draw. While some of Influence free options have been good, i.e. John Masanori and Earthrise, have helped alleviate this, yet they all seem to be related to a common sentiment that I’ve seen parroted around with all of the mini-faction IDs, and that is how the tight the influence really is with them.

Before I leave a quick question, how important would you say Multi-Access for R&D is with Sunny? I’ve been kinda jumping back & forth on it, and haven’t come to a reliable answer.

The problem with all the mini factions is that they lack “interesting” features. I feel like I HAVE to play Stimahack+carreer fair+SMC+datasucker because all 4 of those cards are so imba for their influence cost. SMC is probably the best tutor in the game despite its influence cost, and the combo with Stimhack is the best combo in the game (2 cards that are good on their own that become nutso when combined is a great combo). Career fair/Stimhack/Datasucker are all the most efficent cards in the game at their roles. Career fair sets up alll the resource econ quite nicely, datasucker is required because Strength pumping on breakers is painful, and mimic is one of the few good sentry breakers (the other one which is in this deck ALSO requires sucker to work) and stimhack makes money at a rate that is better than every other card in the game. No card even compares to stimhack in terms of money/click.

Here is the build of sunny that I finally settled n.

Obviously this is probably the most boring deck ever seen in the history of this forum. 5 multiaccess cards+14 programs+der infinite Econ. It’s a SOLID deck but it doesn’t really have much in the way of cool tricks or interesting interactions. You are just playing the most generic runner possible.

I’m really going to have to disagree with your analysis of the mini-factions. I find that from my limited testing, that each of them within their own card pool support different enough play styles to go against the common runner grain. Whilst Sunny is obviously the most orthodox of these mini-faction runners, I still think that she comes with some interesting interactions all her own. One of them has been discussed is things like Power Tap, Rabbit Hole, etc… in correlation with Security Nexus. In addition, Security Nexus is more akin to a Femme Fatale rather than a traditional console, and should be treated as such. Really in the end, whilst I’m doubtful that any of these ID’s will top tier choices, I think that they do provide some interesting builds to be done that couldn’t be achieved within the current runner pool.

Sunny seems to quite an interesting faction, despite the apparently blandness of the ID ability. I like how for once I feel like link matters and I might consider playing cards that increase it, something I never touched before. I’ve tested on OCTGN and changed my list several times, and still feel it’s very unrefined:

25 influence spent (max 25)
50 cards (min 50)
Cards up to Data and Destiny

Every matchup feels good except for NEH, which is often too quick and will leave Sunny simply looking stupid in a portion of games.

  1. Street Peddler seems like an excellent option at only 1 influence, and has very few events it can whiff on.

  2. Jak Sinclair seems amazing to me, even without any kind of support that would make him better, like datasucker,Desperado, sec testing etc. While I won’t say it’s just like having 5 clicks a turn, I find more often than not that you can make good use of the Sinclair run, whether it’s to check a naked remote, force Jackson to be popped, or just to facecheck early on. A surprising amount of the time, the corps ice won’t even require a program to go through, and you can just run R&D with your Sinclair ability, double click through Eli, pay popup window and see your cards. Once you install the console, this only gets better.

  3. The console I’ve found to be strong, but the install has to be timed carefully and you won’t need it every game. Getting round a Tollbooth is the most common use I find for it, considering how much her codegate breaker sucks.

  4. Maybe a clot include or two would help with the NEH matchup. Currently the clone chip feels like wasted influence, only recurring parasite and the occasional medium if trashed, but a clot in it’s place might be more useful. Most players don’t play round the possibility of clot against Sunny, so tutoring it up with SMC or just dropping it off a street peddler can stop the corp in its tracks and score you an easy astro. Of course, just swapping it for a legwork isn’t a bad idea either.

  5. Speaking of the parasite, though I think it’s one of the most powerful runner cards in the game, it’s been only average here. Maybe more of an ice destruction / parasite recurring deck is possible, but it’s a different deck and has to be careful not to just be a weaker anarch.

  6. Other fat: hunting grounds is a weird include for 1 influence, that sometimes gets you round an annoying effect, or makes tollbooth less of a pain to beat, but is more of a luxury include atm. Dyson memchip makes your console bypass slightly more efficient and allows for your full rig to be up (3 multithreaders, Medium) without turning off Data Folding, but in practice that’s a very rare situation. These cards have been just ok, but I’m not sure what’s a better include.

  7. R&D multi-access seems very important to me, as you have to play to some sort of wincon, and that’s the most common one I can think of. I’ve found Medium inferior to RDIs in most games, since she’s more suited to making one run on R&D every turn, but Medium provides an extra form of multi-access that can be tutored, and can punish a flippant NEH harder, where seeing two cards with an interface wouldn’t be enough.

Biggest issue so far seems to come in the early-midgame. With so much econ, your opening hand will nearly always look glorious, and setting up the groundwork for a strong economy is easily done. But then the corp will start doing things, leaving your with alot of expensive pieces you need to find and install; breakers, multiaccess, multithreaders, possibly her console. Sometimes you just won’t have the time and money to do it before NEH just wins, especially considering how bad her breakers are at beating some gearcheck ice (thinking Architect, Enigma especially).

I’m not sure Sunny will ever be tier 1 but she’s been pretty refreshing to play. I do like that they’ve made a runner that can play drip econ stuff like Underworld Contacts without feeling janky.

My feeling on the lack of Sunny discussion has largely been that she’s been “solved” more than the other two. Not to say optimal decks have been uncovered, but people have gotten solid decks with her from the start, while Apex looked amazing and proved to be difficult and Adam looked awful but has been getting better and better results as people develop him.

In comparison, yeah, Sunny’s just solid-seeming. She has some strangeness, but by and large she just seems like a solid, mostly-orthodox runner. She’s a bit slow, maybe, but she’s got some pretty good econ potential, so…

Agreed. She’s boring, you can know her matchups basically without even knowing what’s in her deck. Hey you’re playing Blue Sun? Eat it unless you find 7 points to score in the first 10 turns this is a 100% matchup for me because my console says “beat the living piss out of Blue Sun.” Playing NEH? Get those single accesses where you can, not much you’re gonna be doing about breaking the early remote or stopping the SanSan plays, so cross your fingers!

I played a bunch of games with Sunny. She can pretty well beat anything that isn’t fast advance as far as I could tell. Too bad fast advance is rather popular.

The 50 cards hurts her way more than it does Val. Because the whole Blackmail thing.

What list have you been playing? This is the best I’ve found so far. Not many games with it though.

Something like this. Cards have come in and out, haven’t settled. I don’t know if I like the Jak/Globalsec thing, they’ll probably come out. Best card for me was Nexus when it got up and rolling.

Deck built on NetrunnerDB.

I’m on mobile, sorry for the shitty bbcode or whatever it is.

So at what point are corps going to start splashing Net Police to counter Power Tap?

I played against the Power Tap Nexus once and got crushed. It was awesome. Makes Ichi 1.0 bad all of a sudden.

Jesus, this should be my favorite deck of all time. Maybe I’ll give it a shot.

Nexus is definitely crazy strong, but I’m sort of thinking it just makes your matches that are already good, better. Blue sun doesn’t need to go from an 85% match to a 100% match usually. But Nexus is terrible draw vs NEH most of the time. Same deal with Jak in threader Andy lists. He makes your best matchups better, but probably isn’t worth it because he’s bad against the same stuff the rest of the deck is worst at.

Yeah instead of going full jank with the Power Taps I really liked comp employee because it’s always a good card. If you can Modded the Nexus early vs NEH it might be able to do some work. Unless you get really good draw though, as we’ve said, the poor FA matchup is a major liability. I mean maybe she could play some Traffic Accidents… But still.

The Multithreader should probably be another datasucker or Comp Emp. Or a Film Critic. Also might as well add the Data Foldings in place of Jak/Globalsec. Probably needs more draw.

Yeah, I hare paying 8 for virtually anything.

I have to find a way to fit Suckers in. The breakers seem like they badly need it or else Tollbooth/Enigma/once-advanced Ice Wall. Multithreader is some hot tech and a card that I for some reason just don’t include. Also Compromised Employee is probably one of my favorite cards that I never play.

I wonder if there’s anyway to get in some anti-FA tech, but 50 cards really puts a hamper on consistency in getting anything consistently and if it’s purely designed to stop FA you have 3 dead cards (probably) for your other match-ups. Of course, I think her glacier matchups are fairly fine, but no Parasite makes me sad :frowning:

Perhaps Sunny is friends with Paige Piper. They might get together to talk over a six influence bottle of wine…

Unless you’re running tracer ice out of Industrial Genomics the problem with net police is that it’ 1 to trash. If you really hate high link stuff Satellite Dish or whatever gives you 3 recurring is a much better choice (albeit probably still not great.)
