Well, that really is just a problem with the corp in that there is no strong way to counter high Link, sans playing NBN: Making News. Granted, NBN is the corp best poised to take out a Sunny deck, so things like NBN:MN are really not all that great against her, unless we begin to see NBN glacier start to become a thing.
Finally, a random thing I’ve begun to see recently w/ a few Sunny decks. I’ve seen a couple Sunny decks trying to use Bug in conjunction with Globalsec Security Clearance trying to create a nice stranglehold on HQ. Whilst not the most efficient use of resources, I thought it was at least a clever way to prevent the corp from trying to hide any info from you.
Here’s a pretty boring list I put together. Nothing too fancy, career fair and modded to try and reduce the set up costs. Then multithreader and datasucker to reduce running costs. I don’t play online so will have to wait till the cardboard reaches me to see how it actually plays!
I think Sunny is very similar to Stirling and so I would really try to run Medium and not R&D Interface.
Unlike R&D Interface, Medium can win games on its own, you drop it, it’s a threat now, which is much better than “perhaps I’ll R&D lock you”. It’s also huge against NBN because you can schew all the rig-building in favour of hitting 4 times in a row and trashing all you see for the win.
The big difference is Globalsec Security Cleareance, that might make the influence spent on Medium less interesting.
I think her ID really needs some operational text. How about, “If Sunny flatlines, the corporation takes 7 FeelBads.”
Seriously, I flatlined her the other day and felt terrible. After scorching, my offer to start the Weyland Sunny Side Up Scholarship was not well received.
I am really impressed with Jak. I knew the synergy with Security Testing would be good, especially against the current horizontal meta, but Jak is also great for early pressure and forcing the corp to rez ice. Facechecking with Jak on R&D still allows 4 clicks to set up, or to run more after stealing/trashing against an effectively open R&D (eg, no ice, unrezzable ice, or porous ice).
What have you been using in your Kate shell? I’ve been testing different econ and draw options and the big problem she has is dealing with decks that try to rush stuff out quickly. Also I’ve been experimenting with Rabbit Hole to patch up the link on Nexus traces.
Nexus is pretty choice. Especially if you link up. If there were more robust economy options, I think a deck that packs Nexus, +Link and either Power Tap or Compromised Employee is pretty dang decent, but in a competitive meta it will get torn apart by fast advance without better counters.
With Jak and a linked up Nexus you are pretty much getting a free sucker token every turn or a free check on a remote and possibly even some payout from other card effects. Its also handy to know if I should even bother with R&D that turn.
Sad part is, we probably still need one more card to benefit fully from having a huge link. The Chip is great, but has no way of being recycled aside from deja vu. If it could be recurred, the deck would have some pretty solid remote lock plays.
Nexus is very useful in the fast advance match up, but prohibitively expensive to set up and play. Anyone tried a stimshop build out of sunny? Paying 8 influence to get a super nexus seems pretty legit. Alternatively Da’Vinci might be worth playing in Sunny over modded, especially as it synergizes so well with Jak and gives you mid run installs of anything.
Any thoughts on that?
Edits Fixed a few bad card names. I blame my 10 hour work day.
