Yeah, Faust would be pretty sweet. Drug Dealer/Faust Sunny is probably good.
I donāt really like Drug Dealer, since Sunny actually does kind of need money, but Off-Campus Apartment + 3x Earthrise has been amazing for me.
when i knocked up my sunny (i have stopped playing know as actually quite dull to play) I went with Modded and lucky find, just because i selected cards purely based on speeding her up as well as my central package of 3xunderworld (slow) 3xdata folding (slow) and 3x her monster breakers (lightning slow)
I couldnāt disagree with this more. IMO, the best reason to play Sunney is the bunch of influance she gets. I know Adam and Apex have 25 as well, but you have to play a very narrow play style with those runners an you canāt experemant with just lots of good cards from all factions.
Another problem I see with lots of Sunny decks is the lack of draw. I normally see that three Earthrise and two Massanori/Baby, or something of the sort. Because she has such a giant deck, you have to include a massive amount of draw to combat the speed of NBN. Currently I am running 3 Apartment, 3 Drugs and 3 Earthrise, as well as 3 Peddler. It accelerates your game greatly, and combo with 3 of each of her breakers, you can get set up pretty fast.
Thoughts?
Jak is pretty damn good, honestly to the point that Iām almost considering running Globalsec Security Clearance solely because of how good Jak is (particularly with Nexus). Until they multi-ice R&D you lose a click to know if the run is worthwhile or not, then get the Jak run either there or elsewhere depending on what you see⦠coming after you get any start-of-turn money triggers.
Still not doing it, but Iām definitely tempted. If she had an easier time splashing/finding Chronotype Iād definitely consider it, though.
Overall Iāve been really enjoying her, though my play has been incredibly sloppy the last few weeks so I donāt know if the deck Iām playing is even an optimal Sunny deck let alone good overall.
If I were a young man, with the whole world and all its fruits in front of me, Iād consider making a crude joke about this.
Iād agree with Chill - Jak and Nexus are the only real reasons to play Sunny.
The other mini-factions have even less reasons to play them, for sure, but that says more about those mini-factions than it does about Sunny.
Jak has been good in my playtesting, too. Iām not playing Security Testing, though. Iām playing DaVinci to flash in breakers/Interfaces/Hotels. Itās been really good; you free up two influence that can be used for a better breaker or another interface.
Jak is easily Sunnyās best card. Not only is he great for general click compression, but heās awesome with Sec Testing, Datasucker, and Bank Job. Heās also really good at putting pressure on the corp to rez ice early game while leaving the runner with a full 4 clicks of setup.
I agree with the point about draw. I get by on just 3 OCA, 3 Earthrise, and 2 Peddler, but I also play The Source for the NBN MU. I think itās pretty much nuts not to jam in as many OCA / Quality Time / Peddler / Career Fair as you can fit influence for, because Sunny desperately needs the acceleration and all those options are pretty efficient at 1 inf.
However, I agree with the others that Jak and Nexus are really, really good and that any Sunny build without them is pretty much kneecapped.
With Nexus, certainly. It gives Jak a really powerful late-game transition.
While this is true, Iāve found Nexus is generally too slow for an already slow deck. Jak is still amazing without it.
Agree here. I find that if you can build Sunny to just have a ton of draw to find breakers (John M., Peddler, etc.) you probably can leave out her console altogether. Nexus is cool, but it suffers the Toolbox curse. It costs a metric shit ton to play.
That said, I havenāt found a better alternative. There are times when I do end up installing it (against glacier), and it does some work (or I end up taking a tag), and other times when itās just a waste of a slot (against FA, rush, butcherstuff).
I feel like Iām taking crazy pills; I win a non-trivial number of games with no breakers at all because Nexus is that insane, and I donāt think Iāve ever not installed it.
Nexus usually gets installed for me before any breakers also. I donāt understand why you would play Sunny without it.
I think I need to start doing that.
In a world where everyone plays slow-ass glacier, itās the best thing.
Itās not as slow as you think.
If Kate SMCs for Gordian and Lady, sheās paying 10. My Faust / Nexus rig is 11.
Took it to a tourney last night (with NEHFA, so a nice fast corp); realized the other downside of speed. half the games she timed lost because I was behind, but had my rig up and was going to win, just a question of when.
Also: Jak+sec testing+john M.+a data sucker or three is probably the best drip engine in the game.
Sunny needs nexus, but she also needs her breakers. Beyond the way they both benefit from +link, they target different builds. vs ice light rush/kill decks you may well be able to get by on just nexus. On the other hand single remote glacier can easily double ice everything nerfing jak late game), but her breakers will chomp straight through them (with nexus acting as a hold-out for the one you lack/canāt/donāt want to break).
I understand, and Nexus can be insane if you get it + a few link cards installed. Iāve been doing it with Access to Globalsec and thatās been preferable to Rabbit Hole. The problem is this: if the corp is rushing, or senses youāre slow (which they will, because youāre Sunny), and you have Nexus in hand, installing it and running and hoping they canāt out-trace you is basically a huge āworks sometimesā play. If the corp is sitting on about 4 creds, then, it can work. If they have about 10+, probably not.
If they dump money into the trace, Iām generally pretty happy to bounce out clear tag and enjoy the tempo shift, which can give me more time to set up.
You donāt always have to get the adgenda (unless its the last one) just try and punish the corp for trying to score by making him/her dump money into a remote or even better a trace they get very little return for (compared to spending that same money rezzing ICE)
