Mumbad Cycle

Is Erik the guy that put together the last draft set?

If you use it with Komainu instead of tollboth, it should also get a second batch of subroutines…

Or you could just, you know, break with it?

EDIT: never mind, read it as 3 subroutines, not subtypes.

I don’t find Sadyojata all that impressive. It’s important to realise that it doesn’t beat any of the basic gear-check ICE (Enigma, ICE Wall, Wraparound etc.) so even with Kit’s ability or Paintbrush or similar you’ll still need a regular breaker suite. Since its stats are the same as Corroder and Gorgian I don’t really see the point of running it when you’ll be able to beat everything anyway for the same cost with your regular rig. As such, Sadyojata will be good only if at least one of the following is true:

  • The other Deva programs are worth using and the $2 ability to swap is worthwhile
  • We see a significant number of playable ICE with three subtypes that fall outside the regular CG / barrier / sentry structure, i.e. a regular rig won’t be any good against them
  • There is playable support tech that isn’t complete jank.

On Facebook someone made the point that Tinkering guarantees three subtypes… yeah sure, but it also guarantees it’s a barrier, so Corroder does the same job in that situation for $2 less to install.

I am so hyped for Mumbad even if the cards are bad, Cyberpunk world tour is basically everything I ever wanted!

I wonder if they’ll include pronunciation guides?

Remember that old Stimhack article about the Japanese of Jinteki?

Time for a follow-up!

Happens, since ONRs’ agendas in general gave more points for the advancements needed. Quite a few 3/3 were there, too. Most prominent was Corporate War (12 credits instead of 7), I think.

Mumbad Virtual Tour will be great in Industrial Genomics! Ronin? Agenda? Nope! Free “trap” that drains all your credits.

Improved Protein Source has some of the best art and–dare I say–flavor of any card yet  Also, a 4/3 is very interesting, I wonder what the ability will be, hopefully not one that protects itself!

But with IG you can price yourself out of the market - if you’ve boosted up to 9 or 10 and they can’t pay the trash cost they skip it entirely. It in IG will force the runner and the corp into a weird little dance.

I think it comes across as an upgrade that turns any agenda into a (better) NAPD.

Which is fine, of course, because as we all know NAPD is sorely underpla-…

Not quite, because they can still steal the agenda. It doesn’t help as agenda protection the way NAPD is useful in RP or Blue Sun Bootcamp (where you hope to drain them below 4 credits and then they can’t take the agenda) but it IS better than NAPD for a Midseason deck, since you actually want them to take the NAPD and they can’t choose not to lose the money.

Like other people have said, he was the lead for Lord of the Rings LCG, Call of Cthulu, core set Conquest ,and appears to be the new lead for AGoT 2.0, so he is more than likely not touching Netrunner.

I just double checked and yes Nate is listed as the lead for AGoT 2.0. He’s been the one writing the FFG articles too. For some reason I thought I had heard somewhere that Damon was doing AGoT as well so I just figured that meant FFG was moving Nate to ANR.

Just going based on his LotR LCG stuff, which I have more experience with, I thought his ability to mix design and theme were spot on.

Yes, very true, it’s worse at protecting agendas but better at hurting a runner’s wallet in preparation for a kill (either SEA Source of Midseasons).

It’s going to be clinically nuts with Explodapalooza, is what’s it’s going to be. 10 credit swing right as you turn Midseason on? Yes please.

Plus, with a Midseasons deck, them not having the money to trash it is not a drawback, means you can still land the kill; if they have <11 creds, they’ll end up on <6 creds. Swapping NAPD straight over to Cool Guys Don’t Look At Explosions then grabbing a couple of these for a scoring server seems like a fine variation on Butchershop.

I think NAPD > Explodapalooza is definitely the right call, especially with Haarpsichord where your ID can provide you some of the protection against multiaccess than NAPD provides, even without Mumbad. Adding Mumbad is just extra pain.

EDIT: It makes Dirty Laundry nicer, though, since you can use it to spend down below 5 credits and immediately gain back up.

if you have a jackson on the table you can pull yourself back into range to some extent.

also allele suppression can be used to tack on a few more credits to the virtual tour trash cost.

Well, gods help us.

I feel pretty confident about whatever team FFGs finally settles on for ANR. Their first release is so far away that it’s probably not worth worrying about.

I’m sure it will be beautiful, and very strong thematically.
