Post MWL NBN FA

3 CVS seems correct right now. Without Quality Times firing off of Pads, Kate has a harder time winning a Clone Chip vs. CVS war, so it seems like less of a rockfight-in-a-glass-house now. Before you could commit to the strat and Kate would still be likely to find enough Clot recursion and then you say, “man, I wish I spent that money just going for a Tollbooth remote and some neveradvance shenanigans.” That’s a bit less likely to happen now, and of course the main reason you’re slotting so many is for Noise

Then against Noise they’re just great, and against the other Anarchs they’ll do things.
I don’t know how cvs is against that Criminal minifaction thing people keep talking about but I assume it’s not that bad against them, you can still install it and draw a card and waste time checking.

I feel like Team Sponsorship is a little less exciting now that you’re not trying to beat Prepaid Kate, who can’t quite afford to trash it or the Sansan you loop it through. Whizzard and any Anarch running Imp threatens Team Sponsorship enough to make it a great 1 influence card instead of an amazing 1 influence card. I think another influence usage might be better, not sure which. Or a little of each.

You didn’t raise “Does Mumba Temple suck or not?” as a question, so I guess that means you’re sure it does.

disclaimer: not actually good at netrunner

I’m almost certain that 3 CVS is too many since there will be a lot of decks where it wont do anything except draw you a card and perhaps help you duck Siphon. Still you do want it vs anything with medium or clot so 2 is still a good call.

I’ve been playing around with this and I’ve felt pretty good about it:

NEH
Agenda (12) :
3x AstroScript Pilot Program ☆☆☆
3x Breaking News
2x Explode-a-palooza
3x Project Beale
1x 15 Minutes

Asset (9) :
1x Daily Business Show
3x Jackson Howard
3x Marked Accounts
2x PAD Campaign

Upgrade (5) :
2x Cyberdex Virus Suite
3x SanSan City Grid ☆☆☆

Operation (9) :
2x Biotic Labor ••••• •••
1x Fast Track
3x Hedge Fund
3x Sweeps Week

Barrier (3) :
3x Wraparound

Code Gate (9) :
3x Archangel
2x Enigma
2x Pop-up Window
1x Quandary
1x Tollbooth

Sentry (2) :
1x Archer ••
1x Rototurret •

Archer has been great so far. Normally you stick it on R&D to lock them out late game. Taxing out Anarch player’s D4vids is a lot easier now since they generally play fewer clone chips. The ICE is set up to tax D4vid very quickly especially if they are trying to be cute and make due with no Corroder (or Noise just doesn’t draw his single copy for instance). If you’re sitting on 3 or 4 points with an Astro token, suddenly, the runner is going to be very keen on getting into your R&D, you can easily get them with an Archer they aren’t expecting, or just hoping that you don’t have.

Archangel is awesome and all NBN deck should be running at least 2. Putting one in front of a cheap ETR Ice is a quick and easy taxing server. Even on it’s own it’s almost never bad. Don’t rez them too early against Noise or else you are looking at recurring Caches, but after a certain point, they will have too much stuff that they need in play to make that a viable plan.

I have more Marked Accounts than PADs atm because there is a lot off Whizzard in my area, and MA is way more likely to pay off against him. Either way, I see the 2 as pretty much equivalent, so you can easily switch one for the other.

Roto Turret sort of sucks, but you need another sentry and it’s fine. I could run something like Guard over Roto and use the influence elsewhere, but I haven’t found anything that compelling. Swordsman is a card I was thinking about, but the ICE is already pretty good vs Faust and I picked Roto for it’s more generally usefulness. If it turns out I need more help vs Faust after more testing, that’s switch #1 .

Right now I’m not sure if I want 2 Fast or 2 DBS or 1 of each, so I’m taking the split right now to see which one is more useful.

Edit: Since this has pretty much turned into the NEH FA thread I changed the title to reflect that since there are threads for the other NBN decks out there.

I’m no Fastro guru, but I’m not sure the influence is as locked up as you suggest. I’ve been dropping to one Biotic and running 2 Architect, because Noise and no one respects it right now. It seems to be doing well enough.

Architect at 3 influence cost is in a big rock paper scissors state of limbo. If it gets respected, it’s not worth the three influence. If it gets disrespected, it’s well worth the 3 influence. If it gets respected and it’s not actually there, then putting a zero influence ice over R&D and having that Ice function as a Curtain Wall until a Mimic or Faust is installed is unfair good.

Running 2 Architect seems like a great way to win the Swiss and lose after the cut, as much as I wish the Swiss and cut were the same Netrunner.

Not a fan of going down to 1 Biotic. It’s useful at all points of the game, it scores your first astro early, it lets you never advance a 4/2 and it finishes off games with fast track + astroscript token.

Have you thought about -2 Pad/Marked +2 DBS?

I run 3x DBS and if I can get 1 to stick, it’s hard to lose. Being able to send agendas you don’t want to the bottom while making sure that operation economy gets to your hand is amazing. If you’re only getting cards from mandatory draw, you’ll see twice the number of hedge funs and sweep weeks if you have a DBS running.

Edit: I should probably post my own list

There’s talk of 1 Biotic, to keep other pre-MWL aspects, and I get that. Personally, it’s not my style.

I have loved Special Offer since it came out, and it easily replaced Pop Up in my builds. I want creds to finish the games ASAP, not have a slugfest v. Siphon or Parasites while clicking up Marked Accounts.

My current build. That last INF can be Roto/Lotus/whatever. I had -1 TS, -1Lotus, +1Ichi 1.0. Do what you like. I’m trying Lotus, as there’s a shit-ton of Parasite around, more than ever, it seems. Roto forces the Killer, which is nice. I do miss Architect.

(@Basoon - I like the build, but, with all those 2/1s, I think TS would be nice, no?)

Instead of cutting Parasite for MWL, everyone just switched to the faction that can run it for the least influence.

Biotic seems like a 2 or 0 card. Either you want 2 and the rest of your build assumes the presence of Biotic Labor to kickstart the Astrotrain, or the ice and assets in your deck are designed to support scoring the first Astro without a Biotic Labor, and you want the influence so they can do that even better (or gum up HQ and R&D for however long that takes)

Not sure if it’s going to change after MWL, but in the olden days, one Biotic was perfect IMO.

@Spags - Is Special Offer/Sponsorship synergy as good as it seems?

I’ve dropped my 1x Mimic for a second Corroder in my Noise list, it respects Architect less but there’s anti-Ichi/Archer/Roto tech in the form of Sac Con. Getting David taxed out early will still suck a lot, particularly when there’s so much annoying ice that’s competing for your precious few tokens.

Damon is probably going to be a little buttfrustrated when he sees the meta dominated by NEH FA, you just can’t kill it, astro2stronk

Your build is a lot lighter on (real) ICE than Calimsha’s. How has the second Archangel been? I understand your point about Special Offer, but I think Pop-Ups can actually tax a lot of credits against Runners who can’t Parasite them. Even those that can sometimes want/need to reserve Parasites for other ICE (myself included, generally).

Is 1 Fast Track enough? Lotus Field seems better versus Anarch but worse versus Criminal. Roto has been getting me a lot of breaker snipes against Criminals. Not sure it’s valid to run an ICE that’s better versus Criminals over one that’s better versus Anarchs right now.

Does anyone think there is any value to ELP in NEH Fastro? The list I am going to try testing today is based on Calimsha’s, but cuts the second Roto and Swordsman for an ELP. I’m probably just trying too hard to do something different. A well-timed ELP seems like it could put yet another vector of pressure on Runners, especially with less run events in the meta.

Here’s the list for those interested: http://netrunnerdb.com/en/deck/view/556876

I do think NEH is the strongest ID in the game right now. No other faction can put as much pressure on the Runner as NBN. Every unchecked remote could be a SSCG, and once an Astro counter is available, HQ and RND are actively threatening. NBN is the only faction that threatens from every remote, HQ, and RND, almost from the first turn. Glacier only threatens from the scoring remote, and horizontal decks either don’t threaten enough from remotes to make central assault sub-optimal, or don’t threaten enough period to prevent you from checking and/or trashing every single remote. NBN is truly oppressive, and don’t even get me started on News Team & SYNC.

I really like the 2x Fast Track. People underestimate how damn good this card is in NEH. However, I think 2x Breaking News is probably better than 15 mins, so long as you’re only running 2 1-point agendas. The shenanigans you can do with killing resources I think is well worth the less protected agenda in the deck. Anarchs run almost 100% resource econ these days, and most non-Nexus Kate builds are on ProCon. Killing any of these can often slow the runner down enough to win the game.

I agree. I am always terrified of BN when playing against NEH; however, shuffling 15 Minutes really helps break RND lock, and being able to put the Runner back down to 4 points from 5 is pretty good, I think. It’s a tough call.

Special Sponsorship sounds like a ton of fun. And I think you’re right on the Offer > Pop-Up, at least in a 2 Biotic list. With out you probably want to durdle a little more. I’ve been loving the Grim in Calimsha’s build. No one sees it coming.

I ran 3 Grim/3 Roto ETF FA at Worlds 2013. I do love that card, and will catch fools off guard; a severe gear check. However, I hate giving up a bad pub. Trashing those remotes becomes a tad bit easier with it. It’s a nice, INF-free surprise, for sure.

Yup. People are just doubling-down on Red.

I like SO even without TS. The latter is just gravy, when you put it right into the path of resistance.

No clue. As noted in a recent BadPub, once nice thing about the MWL is that lists will look a bit more different. My and @calimsha’s lists are ‘quite different’, and yet are essentially pounding the same strategy. Variety is good.

I will note that teching v. Crim is prob. not the thing to be worried about currently.

Yeah, me too. It was in my build last week. I’ve tried about 10 variations on this build since Worlds. Not sure if zero, 1, or two is correct. DBS is really good, too, as you can dump Siphon into it, and can bury problems (like Explodes).

Little Engine is probably worth a slot, as well. It does a lot of work against Anarch.

Little Engine has won me a number of games against Shapers partial to Study Guide.

I’m not sure that Fastro needs help against them.

Thats fair. I was overly specific but my main point was that in my experience its been good (and cheaper than tollbooth) ice to Never Advance behind when clot starts to get overwhelming.
